FEB 20, 2010 Western MAGIC Cruise

Beth,

Can't tell you how odd it felt to hear about a storm anywhere on the Eastern Seaboard and not get hit twice as hard as anywhere else. It's still cold (16 degrees) but it's sparkly sunny outside. Sorry you guys took the hit on this one...:duck:

Kathy Q
My SIL lives in northwestern New Jersey, up in the mountains. They haven't had more than an inch of snow all winter. This is our second major storm this year, bringing the total to a bit under 40". We haven't had that much snow in the last four years combined!

I can't WAIT to get out of here!

Beth

So much for me living in the great white north. You guys are doing pretty good. We only have about 6 inches on the ground today. It is beautiful and sunny but very cold. The temp. is 24 F and my therm. is in the sun.
Can't wait for warmth!!!:cool1:

Does anyone else go through this before a trip?

Dreams (or really nightmares) about loosing passports, being separated from my family and I'm sure the one were I get to Florida and realized that I've forgotten my suitcase is coming. (I always have versions of that one before every trip.)

Anyone else? Or am I the only crazy one on this voyage?;)

My favorite (or worst!)....

Just before my last cruise with Jim (Dec., 2007) I dreamed that I couldn't find my ID, but Jim had his. They wouldn't let me board the ship, but I had to swim along behind. I'm an OK swimmer, but by the time I got to Nassau I was feeling a bit winded!

Same trip...it was the first time we reserved a GTY room. Not long after we got our room number, I dreamed that they took all the room numbers off the doors. You just had to walk all around the ship trying your KTTW in every lock until you found the one that would open.

Before my cruise with my friend in May, I dreamed that there was a big storm, so the captain steered around it. We wound up cruising to Bayonne, NJ. And it wasn't to the nice cruise terminal that exists now, but to the Bayonne waterfront of my childhood, which really wasn't a place that you would want to go on a cruise!

I've been OK for this one so far!

I love this one... having to swim behind the ship! :rotfl2: Glad it's not just me.

Updated on 2/8!

Hi Everyone,

I can hardly wait to leave this cold weather behind. We are supposed to have more snow Tues night into Wednesday here on Long Island

Deb - congratulations on your DH safe return home, we appreciate what he is doing for our counrty.

We are arriving in FL on the 19th and staying at Bay Lake Tower. Our family is looking forward to meeting everyone

Okay!!
How crazy am I for being jelous of the midatlantic for getting all this snow while we get ziltch!?! :sad2:Hey, if it's just going to be freezing, :cold:we might as well get a ton of snow also, right? Yikes!!
I am soooooooo losing:crazy2: it over this cruise- Daughter was going to recycle a drink carrier that we got at McD's and I snatched it out of her hands and put it with our cruise gear, simply because I read that it could be handy on the cruise...WHAT!?!
Now I am making iron ons for some pillowcases I am going to try to get autographed...Man, life was simpler before the dis!! 12 days till we touch down in FLA!! Can't wait!
:thumbsup2

Hey Dis-ers!
Where are my 2nd dining people?? :confused3Who's dining European time? Fill me in!

Late diner checking in! I would have been here before, but...we were having dinner!

We eat late at home because of everyone's schedules, so late dining for us is just right!

I wish I could send you some of our snow. My walk from the station to the office was quite an adventure this morning. I guess some people just can't quite figure out how to operate a snow shovel since we very rarely get this much snow. Now they're predicting possibly another foot and a half for tomorrow night into Wednesday. The good part about it is that I will probably not have to go to the office on Wednesday, and if that's the case I think I'll work from home on Thursday. That will give me a six-day weekend to get ready for vacation!

Beth

My kids 6 days of school left just turned into 3 days!!! School is canceled for the rest of the week. How crazy is that? Yikes...now all my vacation packing time is turning into keeping us all busy while we're stuck in the house together!

I have a question...how are you guys packing weather-wise? I can't figure if it's going to be warm, warm...just warm in the middle of the day or something else. I have mostly summer clothes packed with one pair of long pants and a windbreaker. Do you think I should pack more warm clothes and leave out some of the summer outfits? The other cruise I was on was May, so I have no idea about February.:confused3

I'm going with layers. Starting with camisoles or tank tops, then a light-weight cotton shirt, and a blazer. I don't wear shorts very often, but I'm taking a pair or two, a pair of jeans, a couple of pairs of lightweight pants, and lightweight crepe pants for evening/formal wear. And, of course, swimwear! This way I can add or subtract what I want. I may throw a flowery skirt or two in the suitcase if I have room. I plan on doing laundry mid-way through the cruise, and then mid-way through our WDW stay. Of course, the only thing I've packed so far is swimwear. I doubt I'll need it here for the next few days :sad2:. I don't like winter, I don't like snow, I don't like being cold, and I'm so glad that we decided to wait until February instead of following our original plan which was to cruise in November!

Beth

Shauna, I too am jealous of all the snow the mid-Atlantic is getting. Seeing grass in Feb. is so unnatural. :cold: :crazy2:
I'm very impressed with the way everyone is packing.:thumbsup2 I'm taking every t-shirt my kids own (and isn't stained) and putting them in a space bag. As for me...two dresses, a few pairs of capris, a pair of shorts. some t-shirts, a bathing suit or two, and a sweater. Oh, and 40 pairs of flip-flops. :cool1: Hubby is on his own. Which is too bad 'cause he'll have no room to pack.
Have a warm day everyone!!!!
-Hillary, who is in serious countdown mode

The current temp in Key West is 74 degrees... lower temps tomorrow. I think a variety of stuff.

It's official! My office is closed tomorrow and probably Thursday. We're scheduled to be closed Friday and Monday for Presidents' Weekend. A six-day weekend! I love it! Then three more days of work, and I'm done! All of my projects, reports and other governmental nonsense are complete, I have no meetings to attend next week, so before I know it, it will be playtime!

Now to finish out this rather long day and get myself home before the snow starts!

Beth

Sorry, I'm new to all of this, but myself (Dave) my wife (Susan) and our 3 boys Matthew(10) Adam(9) and Jacob(5) will be joining everyone!! We look forward to meeting as many people as possible. We are from Illinois

Welcome Dave! Did you see the get together Shauna's coordinating at 3 p.m. the afternoon we board? It will be at the Prominade Lounge. Her post should be at the top of this page.

Look forward to meeting you and your family!:cheer2:

Well folks I am in Maryland and getting hit hard with the snow. My office has been closed for the past three days and I don't think I will be working the rest of this week. The weather people are calling for 20-30 inches of snow for us now. Please mother nature STOP SNOWING!!!!

Hubby just checked the weather forecast up through the 19th and it is showing mid 70's for all of our cruise locations.
I hope this helps everyone with their packing. I will be doing my packing this weekend, once I dig out of the snow.

Both DH and I can't wait for the cruise.
I want warm weather!!! :cool1:

See you all in 10 days!

Tina
