Two weeks from tomorrow for me. :dance3:

I've been working with the DISboard WebMaster and Creative Director and will be bringing nametags that they designed. :thanks:

I'll have plenty of extras on my cabin door in my FE (Cabin 7538) if you don't make it to the DISmeet. If we wear the nametags those who didn't make it to the DISmeet will be able to spot each other durng the cruise!

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

That's a nice looking family you've got there, although your mother does look a bit like a card shark;)!

Two weeks from tomorrow for me, and that's not soon enough! With all the year-end reports I've had to do, my hands ache from typing, my head is full of number that no longer make any sense, and all I want to do is sit somewhere in the sunshine and think about absolutely nothing for a little while!

How fun! Thanks:woohoo:

We leave 2 weeks from tomorrow and my husband just got back to the States today. He's been in the Persian Gulf for almost 5 months and we can't wait to see him! I got the phone call at 6am this morning that his plane had touched down. What a relief! Now just a couple more days till we can all see "Daddy". We are so excited about all being together again on this cruise. So really no excursions for us---just enjoy the ship and having the family together. He will return to Tampa after the cruise but at least over the next 5 months until he retires we will get to see him monthly. I'm very tired of taking care of everything by myself! I really don't know how single parents do it. I am ready for a break---and some warm weather ---and the ship! Have a great night all. we are due for some SNOW! Debi

What great news! There's no better way to relax and spend some quality family time than on a cruise.

We're expecting snow, too. Of course, how much is a mystery. Predictions are anywhere from 3" to 12+". I would be just fine with no snow at all, thank you!

Someone tell me what Skipbo is!!! We love to play games...rummikub is a fav as well as spades now...though we are newbies at that. So what is Skipbo?

I hope to be busy relaxing and/or doing the many activities the ship offers.

DebM I know you are going to be so excited to spend quality family time together...that is wonderful! I admire you for being so strong to take care of your family while your hubby was/is gone! :)

Sounds like Donna and I are the late-comers...we fly in on the day of the cruise. Too bad I can't change our tickets to arrive on Friday...please hold the boat for us if we are late! :scared1:

Leaving two weeks from today!!! I'm staying at the Hyatt MCO, but actually planning on spending the afternoon in DTD. Can't wait!

Someone tell me what Skipbo is!!! We love to play games...rummikub is a fav as well as spades now...though we are newbies at that. So what is Skipbo?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You'll Need:
Skip-Bo cards
Two to six players ages
seven and up
Skip-Bo is a competitive solitaire type card game for two to six players. It is based on a game some call "Spite and Malice"
or "Spit on Your Neighbor." The object of the game is to get rid of all of your cards, while preventing your opponents from
discarding their cards first. It is fun for all ages and can be played by anyone ages seven and older. Read on to learn how to
play Skip-Bo.

Get Started
Make sure your Skip-Bo deck contains 144 cards and 18 Skip-Bo wild cards for a total
of 162 cards in the deck.

1. Shuffle the cards and have each player draw one card. The person with the highest
card deals. Non-numerical Skip-Bo cards are wild cards and do not count when selecting a dealer.
2. Deal 30 cards face down to each player when there are two to four players. If there are five or more players, deal 20
cards face down to each player, who then stack the cards face down in a stockpile.
3. Turn over the top card of each stockpile without looking at any of the other cards in the pile and turn the top card over to
face up.
4. Place the remaining cards face down in the middle of the table in a draw pile.
5. Make room for four build piles next to the draw pile in the center of the table. These piles must begin with a Skip-Bo or a
one card, then add cards sequentially numbered to 12, as play continues around the table. Remove build piles when they
reach 12 to start a new one.
6.Allow space in front of each player for four discard piles. Each player will
add to these piles at the end of his hand to
signal they have finished playing and it is the next player's turn.

Play Skip-Bo
7. Begin play with the person sitting to the left of the dealer. This player draws five cards from the draw pile in the center of
the table.
8. Look at the player's top stock (#) pile card. If the player's top card is a Skip-Bo or a 1, he can start a build pile. If the
number is higher he can play cards from his hand to help him reach that number. The turn continues until the player turns
over a card on his stock pile that he cannot play. The player discards one card from his hand to begin one of four discard
piles in front of him and play moves to the next person.
9.Continue play around the table until all players have had a chance to play
one hand.
10.Begin each hand by drawing enough cards to have five cards in your hand and end that hand with a discard into one of
four discard stacks on the table.
11. Win the game by being the first player to get rid of all the cards in your stockpile.

Leaving two weeks from today!!! I'm staying at the Hyatt MCO, but actually planning on spending the afternoon in DTD. Can't wait!
We'll be at the Hyatt too, but not arriving until mid/late afternoon. Maybe we'll see you there!

I'm sitting here in the office waiting for the snow to start. I live on a small street which is usually THE last street in the city to get plowed (there are only three houses). When they plow the main street which crosses it, there is usually a five-six foot snow pile, so I can't get out. My boss is piling me up with things to do at home on Monday! This way I won't be charged for a sick day if I can't get here. Of course, I have so many sick days that I can't use them all, but what's one more, right? I can take them before my "official" retirement date, so, as of right now, I can stop working a bit more than a year before my official date. I can't afford to retire because I need the benefits, but it's nice to know that I can go any time now!

Almost have my Fish Extender done (I've used more disposable types in the past - finally made a real one since we have this cruise and 3 more on DCL booked). I have the main fabric with pockets attached. We are going to use t-shirt transfers to put our names and some clip art on the pockets, so hopefully it will be complete by the end of the weekend.

Shinez: I'm pretty sure we'll make it to the Dis-meet if you want to add us to your list
me, DH, DD(12) (who had been chatting with your DD on Facebook), and DS(10) from NH. My mother and grandmother are joining us for the cruise but I'm not sure if they'll make it to the meet.

We've got a really busy couple of weeks (Girl Scout cookies are coming; gymnastics meet, etc.); I'm soooo looking forward to getting on that plane on the 19th! We're staying at the Hyatt at MCO and taking a limo to the port on Saturday a.m.

Congrats, Debi! I, too, don't know how single parents do it - and I admire how well it does get done by them.

As for Skipbo, it's much easier than the instructions make it out to be. I only know this because I'm a new player and tried to follow the directions. It took an experienced player to teach me. :yay:
I have a travel Scrabble board and will lug it along if it fits.

I wonder what board/card games the ship has. Do I need to bring an Uno deck? Or even a card deck? :worried:
I'm packing my kids clothing. How many t-shirts and shorts are the kiddies really going to wear? Are they ever going to take off their bathing suits and put on shorts? How often will I drag them to dinner in the dining room? Oh, the insanity of it all :scared1: :lmao:

I went to the Disney store today and bought $1.00 bags/totes. :woohoo: I'm thinking of embellishing them. They also had a bunch of t-shirts on sale if anyone is still looking for that perfect Mickey Mouse shirt.

Two weeks from today we'll be in Florida (assuming Mother Nature cooperates) :cold: We're staying with my SIL for the night and then they'll take us to the port first thing in the morning. I may get there before they disembark :rotfl:

-Hillary, who can't get out of town fast enough!!!:lovestruc

I wish we had a Disney store near.:sad2: Can't believe it is almost time.
Seems like I still have a million and one things to do!:scared1:
Six more 12 hour shifts to go then its off to paradise. Sure can't wait.:woohoo:
