How far in advance will the discounts for Feb be out? I really would like to stay at the Swan/Dolphin which is where we always stay but right now the rooms are over $300 a night! I may have to go to a moderate and stay.

Thanks!

if you keep your date before Prez weekend, you might be able to book during value season. If there's a discount, which usually happens for early Feb during this slow time, it will be good since it's low season. I paid $49 a night for Pop last Feb 2-4.

I am also going in Feb. This will be our 1st time as a family to Disney World (took our dh to Land when she was 3)

We are super excited! I had no idea this or any of the other "helpful" sites out there existed, so I appreciate any advice. We are going Feb 1-7, with our 2 girls, ages 2 and 5 (the 5 year old will be 6 on Feb 8).

What is the best place for us to stay, and are there any special things to do if you go to WDW for your birthday?

THANKS!

We are taking our Disneymoon in feb. As far as special things I heard it's like 1 out of every 5 people might get a cupcake or something during special occasions like birthdays, honeymoons and such. You can let your hotel know it's her birthday and get her a birthday button and some sit down places may bring her a cupcake or something, but to be safe I suggest like others told me when asking about my honeymoon to book special things myself if I want to ensure having something. I guess cause so many people visit and so many are having birthdays/ weddings/ honeymoons and such it's hard for them to do something for everyone. :bride: pirate:

Thanks for the advice. I was mainly talking about things I could book, not really what they would "do" for us...I am sure it would be impossible to keep up with everyone there for special occasions.
Disneyland had some sort of "birthday party" celebration that happened daily, if I remember correctly. You had to book reservations, and it costed extra. I didn't see this on WDW website, so I assumed they didn't have it...just thought I'd ask in case anyone else knew of it!
Thanks!
I'd also take advice on staying close to a monorail vs. not. We are deciding between POFQ, or doing a Deluxe if we can get a discount...

You can book a birthday celebration at most of the restaurants, I believe. Our family trip last fall included both my grandson's fourth birthday and my fiftieth. We celebrated Sebastian's birthday with lunch at Crystal Palace, and told them in advance and arranged for a birthday cake. When we arrived, the table was decorated. The characters made a fuss over Sebastian (who was wearing his birthday button, of course - get that at Town Hall when you go in, and you'll also get a phone call from Goofy wishing you happy birthday), and then led the kids in a parade around the restaurant. At the end of the meal, they brought out the cake with four lit candles.

We celebrated my birthday with a breakfast at Boma (and a large group of friends and family - more than 50 in total). We had not ordered a cake (it was breakfast after all) so I was surprised when at the end of the meal, our server brought out a cake with a single candle on it! (Well, that was better than 50 candles!) It was a small cake just for me. (Actually, I shared with some of the kids.)

Thank you! That is what I will do, we are planning a couple of the character meals, so I'll just pick one and let them know about her birthday!
Thank you for the advice!

I'm sure your girls will love it! If it were me with 2 little ones. I would stay at the CR (Contemporary). I'm guessing by the age of your girls you will be spending a good deal of time at the MK. Staying at the CR puts you right on the monorail path, you can walk to the MK. Did I mention that "Chef Mickey's" is in the CR. Not to mention the Cali Grill and the most under-rated restaurant in Disney.....The Concourse Steakhouse.

We have stayed at both the CR and the POFQ. Although we prefer the CR I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Have fun........... :thumbsup2

THANK YOU!!! I am so concerned about where we stay, and being sure it's the right place for us. It seemed to me the CR would be the best for location, but I like the price of the POFQ better. Being that it's during the value season, I'm hoping some kind of code will come out, because I'm going to book the CR.
Thanks so much for the advice!!!!

Don't get me wrong. The POFQ is beautiful. It is the smallest of all the moderates. So all buildings are close to everything. It has really beautiful grounds. There is a boat ride that takes you to Down Town Disney. There aren't any restaurants though. The big difference between the CR and the POFQ is the location. Oh and the CR has 2 queen beds and a daybed.

Keep searching these boards. You will definitely find what you are looking for. I wanted to ask you if you were going to do CRT? If so that would be an incredible B-day present for your daughter. When we took our daughters to that breakfast. My wife cried when they met Cinderella.

I do plan on doing the CRT. I haven't looked at the price, but this is a must-do for my 2 girls. They are both Cinderella (my 2 year old says Cinderelly) fanatics. Crit, you seem to have lots of good suggestions...so should I go ahead and book my room NOW for Feb 07?
Also, how fast does CRT fill up? Once they start selling 07 packages, should I be booking CRT?

CR shouldn't be that hard to get in 02/07. I would book now and hope for a code to come out. I think the deposit required is $200 if you ca swing it go for it. I just tried to book the CR for Jersey week 11/8/06 - 11/12/06 and they are sold out. I think there may be a convention going on there then. Conventions can really fill the Contemporary up.

I think you can book CRT 6 months in advance now, if you are staying on-site, which you are. You can call the Disney Dining to get more accurate info. Have you thought of using the dining plan? We found that to be a very good option. I'm not sure with your 2 little ones it would be worthwhile. If you do book CRT make sure you get the earliest possible seating. That way you get in the parks earlier then everyone else. You may even get the chance to wake tink in the Tinkerbell's Treasure's store.

One more thing - Have you signed up for Tourguidemike? If not check it out. For $20 you can't go wrong. He has alot of great info on how to maximize your time in the parks.

Might be worth buying a AAA membership if discount rates are available for your dates. Folks are getting great rates!
See THIS THREAD

Click on SWANDOLPHIN and check your dates with AAA rate. You can reserve without the card, and purchase one b/4 your trip.

Happy planning!
