Feather hair extensions

oh , so basically they are the roach clips of the 80's but braided!
will be at every flea market this summer!

I don't think it's mean. Some trends just look silly past a certain age IMO :confused3

Actually in your previous comment you said stupid and silly. Maybe that is what they are considering mean. :confused3 I don't know about you, but I've taught my kids that stupid is a mean word to say to someone. I hold adults to the same standards.

oooo! I may just let the dd's get these for the summer! They've been bugging me forever to die their hair in purple or pink. These would be cute and removable.

this is why i'm letting my 9 year old daughter get them. she's wanted her her colored pink for a long time. LOL this is a nice compromise.

I didn't call anyone stupid. I simply stated that I believe a current trend looks silly...and yes stupid for women over a certain age.

And again, what age? See someone else said over 18, is that "the age"? And at 58 I am stupid? Yes, you are telling me you think I am stupid, which is mean. It isn't an opinion. I am actually pretty damn smart, smart enough to know that I would never paint anyone "of a certain age" with a broad brush as you have done. You can think it to yourself, but say it here, you are going to get asked about it. Don't presume to tell people they look silly and are stupid with out making some of them a tad angry.

Forgive the link I don't know how to use Photobucket yet, mostly because I haven't tried ;)

On this page scroll down to the Rolling Stone cover. See the small feathers that are trailing down on his finger? That's what I have and only the three just like he has. Yep there are three in this pic, they're so small that sometimes I think I've lost one.

I am an Office Manager for a Dentist and neither my boss or a patient have even mentioned them, I've had them about a month.

I think the trend is stupid...get over it & move on...seriously.

I think Steven Tyler is making them popular, I noticed he had something in his hair but just assumed they were roach clips like we used in our hair in the 80's to get the same look:rotfl: .

OMG did you bring back memories!! I remember Spencer's sold me and my friend the roach clip feathers when we were in 6th grade. I didn't even know what they were really supposed to be used for! I came home with one in my hair and my mom flipped out. She forbid me to enter Spencer's again.

As for the new trend in feather extensions, why not? If it's something you think is appropriate and your place of employment does not care, go for it!

:rotfl:Apparently after 18 - no fun for you! I never did care what others think. I have already checked it out and will be donning the look next week! Will post pics when I do! :thumbsup2

No you think any woman "of a certain age' is stupid, you already said it, you can't change it. You can ammend it, but you own it.

I, on the other hand am going to rock my bright fuchsia and Turquoise feathers, I will be moving on and looking good.

I made an appointment for June 2 to get some, so after that I'll be added to the list of ridiculous people well over 20 who have a few of them!;)

I'm 42 and I want them now. Age is just a number.

I'm 35 and have had them for a few months. I'm absolutely professional, and appear professional. I got neutrals that blend in with my highlights. They are tucked under a little, so they kind of have to catch your eye, to see them. Three of the four of them, in the grouping, have horizontal stripes, like in the picture, but given the neutral coloring, it just looks like a different highlight grouping. Pretty cool.

I'm not sure I could *do* multi-colors for me, but I know a gal who is 28 with them, and she picked LIGHT colors, and they look fairly nice.

I don't think I could do the thick Steven Tyler style. WOW.

You can get them like extensions (what I have), which are put in and stay, then get moved up as your hair grows. Or you can get them in small, hide-able hairclips. My 6 yo DD wanted one, so this is what I did. We have a nothing permanent rule at her age. lol.

My hair gal, and several in my area charge $18 for a set of three, unless you're getting your hair cut or colored, then it's only $12.

I say if you love it, do it. If you don't, don't. I don't think you'll miss out by not doing it, but it should be affordable enough to try it, at least, if you want.
:thumbsup2

Work those feathers! :thumbsup2
My sister and I just ordered some feather extensions, can't wait to wear them in a week when they arrive in the mail (no salon near us has them).

Hey, when MY kids are asked about the silly, trendy things they did in the 20teens, they will have something to talk about, lol.

As a PP said, I let dd11 get her extensions last year because she had been begging to dye strands of hair pink and purple. The extensions gave her the look without damaging her hair.

I think silly age rules about who should or shouldn't do things are stupid. Plenty of people think it is stupid for adults to love Disney like I do. Always amazes me that people on a Disney board can be so uptight.:confused3

Wow! Good price. Even with Cut & Color I paid $25 for a set of three

*That's* what those are! A colleague's 7yo granddaughter had a blue one in her hair today. I thought it looked really cute on her.
