Fearing Everest

The part where it goes backwards can confuse you because its in the dark and the track is actually on a "decline twist."
:

Pay attention to this. If you are at all prone to motion sickness, this will tip you over the edge. I have no problem with drops, and usually love coasters. However, I can't ride Teacups --I get sick; (I also can't read in a moving car) This section of Everest really made me queasy for the rest of the day. There is a point where it stops and goes backwards, then does a bizarre turning dip in the dark. Just so that you are aware of it. The details are fantastic, the theming can't be beat. Just be cautious if you suffer from motion sickness.

For those who have problems with the backwards part of Everest. Have you tried sitting towards the front? I used to have problems with feeling very queasy after the backwards motion. Sitting in the front helps me.

My personal opinion is to just not attempt to fight it and I feel okay, I used to pull my head against the force and it hurt my neck the first few times I road it.

Never thought about the front of the train. In most rollercoasters the back of the vehicle is the fastest which is so ironic since thrill junkies want to sit front row. When Everest reverses the front of the train is the fastest but I couldn't tell you why it makes the backwards part bother you less!

Interesting, because I can't do Teacups if anyone spins the cup, but I can do EE several times in a row with no problems.

Thank you all for these posts! I was terrified to go on EE and was sure this was going to be on my list of "attractions to skip" but from these descriptions I am pretty sure I can handle it! I have ridden, and enjoy, all the mountains, but I am still the family ride chicken cause that's about as intense as I get. They're gonna be shocked when I'm game to ride!

It's not the speed which bothers me. It's the gravitational pull and the "shaking" which feels worse in the back seats  To me it feels like there is an incline at first as it's going backwards, but people say it's a decline....all I know is that I do much better when I sit in front.

I am the same way and I didn't think Everest was bad AT ALL!!!!

Our last trip (last Thanksgiving), DD BEGGED me to ride TofT with her. DH and she would ride it over and over and over and over.......so I agreed to experience it with her since I didn't want to "miss out" on anything with her. Well, I did it and I was TERRIFIED......like seriously terrified, could NOT stop screaming until the ride was over terrified. I was embarrassed when it was all said and done.......especially when everyone on our car told me how I made that ride for them more fun with my hysterics (I think they thought I was being silly, but I was seriously THAT scared!!!!!).

So, when DH and DD decided to do Everest, I was like NO WAY.....then I grabbed an adult beverage and waited for them to get off. Once I was relaxed, lol, I decided to ride and it was NOTHING! It really is a calm ride imo!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

What is it about that blasted ride? I was so terrified on that ride that I couldn't make a sound. All my concentration was going into NOT crying. When I got off, I did cry, a lot. WHO DOES THAT?! DH, the one who made me go on it, felt SO bad. He's never pushed me to go on a ride again. I hate that thing! :sad2:
