thanks eve

we went to disney in June(still depressed!!) and both my husband and my sister-in-law wore fcuk t shirts and I carried a fcuk umbrella cos boy did it rain!!!!

We never got any strange looks or comments, in fact I noticed quite a few people wearing them around the parks.

To be honest I think if everyone's the same as our family, you are too busy looking at the great things around you and soaking up the atmosphere to look at what other people are wearing!

I don't think they are appropriate for a family resort such as Disney
Just as a matter of interest, where would they be appropriate ?

These would be most inappropriate, especially at WDW, but to each his own. I really would think someone either couldn't spell or was trying to be funny by not spelling that foul word backwards.

FCUK men's tees .

I looked at some other the other surf inspired tops, and they're not as bad as the ones found by following the link provided.

As somebody who's worked in advertising in the past, I personally think that the FCUK logo is very clever. It was intended to appeal to the anarchy of the youth of this country and also make the most of the fact that our lowered standards now allow us to wear Tshirts with dyslexic profanity emblazoned on the front. - What a coup for French Connection!
I can only imagine that other designers are now desperately trying to to jumble their own logos into anagrams of other four-letter words.
The 'South Humberside Institute for Technology' should be notified immediately!

Maybe I'm getting old but I dont see why advertisers being 'clever' should need to involve near-to-the-knuckle logos, etc. Its just a case of advertisers wanting the get the product noticed - if it was truly a good product we would all know about it already and what better example is there of consumer recognition of a top product than WDW?

Advertising is too sexual/aggressive/childish and I much prefer to go for brands which have a healthy and mature image. Sorry to rant but this stuff doesnt get challenged enough IMHO!:p

Trashy, I agree with you entirely.
The 'clever' part comes with them being able to exploit a rather wide loophole within Britain's (increasingly) morally-bankrupt standards. - Unfortunately, ethics seldom play a part in today's advertising.
Steve.

Everyone now knows the brand name of a relatively minor, unknown clothes distributor.

Advertising is about promotion of a brand and greater public awareness of the product.

Whoever thought up the campaign and logo is probably considered a genius among his peers!

I think it sad that people jump onto "moral" bandwagons.

The initial question was... (paraphrased)....

My son HAS fcuk Tshirts...would you class these as unsuitable for Disney.

She was not asking for anyone's opinion on the fact that he'd bought them....(to each his own, in my opinion).... but whether they were suitable for Disney.

I had personal experience of such a scenario last year, as I've already said on this thread. I lent her my experience.

Another thought.....
America is considered the land of the Free, especially Free Speech.
I've never seen anyone accosted by others because of their attire or dress when I've been out there.

Perhaps we should think before we try to impose our standards on others, as it is sometimes our standards that may be considered to be naive.

I agree up to a point, - providing that it cuts both ways. - The wearing of a logo in public that's liable to cause offence, is in effect, also to impose a particular standard on others in a far more extrovert manner than merely that of holding an opinion.
Maybe the fact that this thread has digressed somewhat from its original query is evidence of people's pent-up frustration on this issue?
Steve.

I think that the original poster's question has indeed been answered and that the argument for and against this brand can serve no more constructive purpose on the Trip Planning board - it is now closed.
