FCC votes to regulate the internet

"The FCC's Christmas week Internet grab points out how important it is that we pass this bill quickly," she said in announcing the bill. "The only sector of our economy showing growth is online. In these times, for an unelected bureaucracy with dubious jurisdiction and misplaced motives to unilaterally regulate that growth is intolerable. The Internet is more than a communications platform with modems, fiber, and e-mail. It is a marketplace; one that should be kept free."

If we start shifting our television watching from cable to online streaming, then broadband internet should cost more... a lot more! ... ISPs surely have the right to start charging more if people are getting more value out of their services. Again, there is nothing conspiratorial about it. It's Apple Pie and Motherhood American capitalism, nothing more.
Following-up on this thread: AT&T plans to impose monthly usage caps on wireline broadband customers starting May 2. Analysis expect cable ISPs to do so as well. Verizon, so far, has indicated that FiOS won't follow-suit, though that could change.
