After reading the Wayback Burger thread, I got to thinking about decent burger joints throughout my city. (we don't have Wayback Burger here)

I don't mean McDonald's.

We have a few popular burger joints where I live:
Five Guys
The Works
Dick's Drive-Thru and Dairy Dip
Hintonburger (a local place)
Prime Burger Bar

My home town has a place called Truffles Burger Bar that sells a $100 burger with gold (real) flakes in it. They promote local farmers by buying locally grown and bred food.

When I was in Sanibel, we tried burgers at Cheeburger Cheeburger, and were really impressed. They also made a really good malt milkshake.

What are some of your favourite places to get a REAL hamburger? Local? Chain?

Oh man... I could really go for a burger now...

Locally, there's a place not too far from where I live called "Whitey's" (Clevelanders will recognize it :thumbsup2 )

Local, but a little more "chain-like", is Michael Symon's places called "The B Spot" -- they're especially good during their Happy Hour. :)

Chain-wise, I like Five Guys the best (of the ones we have around us). :)

Of the nearby chains, I like smash burger the best but I don't really go there.

My favorite favorite burger right now is at a bar local to my home. It's grilled, perfectly seasoned & served on a slightly toasted roll.

love a good burger. I'd say my favorite in my area (within a reasonable drive) are:

five guys
shake shack
bobby flays burger palace
tasty burger

i heard shake shack and in n out are very close...

in n out is still one of my favorites...
for premium burgers, i love slater 50/50...

some few places that i still need to try, Habit Burger, Unami Burger, Smash Burger...

These are local Nashville burger płaces:

The Pharmacy in East Nashville has amazing hamburgers. They are so good that you think about them for days after eating one.

Rotiers in the Vanderbilt area makes a fantastic cheeseburger on French bread. So good!

I've been meaning to try Hubert Keller's Burger Bar. Locations are sort of odd - San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Beijing.

When I was in Houston in April, my friend from Waco drove up to visit me and he suggested Smashburger on 4 separate occasions. He said their fries were amazing.

Unfortunately, we simply never had the time or stomach space to try Smashburger.

I'm sad that Rochester, NY doesn't have one. Because I really do want to try it, and that's our next trip.

in n out burger is by far my favorite. I am glad I do not live anywhere near one(only go when I travel for business or vacation) or else I would be in trouble

Around here there are quite a few chains and independents. Mostly these are started by trained chefs who wanted to branch out to something basic.

There are names like Trueburger, Super Duper, and Umami Burger (from Southern California).

And don't get me started on food trucks.

It's a tie for our family we have never had a bad burger from either BT's Burger Joint or Five Guys although I prefer the BT's fries but they both have excellent burgers.

OMG...

One of my favourite things is chip truck fries.

I just ate at a food truck last night. The one I tried said "Sliders" on the truck. However, their beef burger was listed as 4 oz of ground chuck. So a quarter pound burger is now a "slider"? I had a BBQ brisket sandwich. I thought it was too big to be called a slider. It was good though. The sauce was sublime although I'm not sure what was in it.

Bobby's Burger Palace.

We have nearby Cheeburger, Cheeburger, Jake's WayBack, and 5 Guys and I haven't tried any of them.

We have Topher's and Mug Shots. Don't have any idea if they are regional, local or national but their burgers are great. Many different kinds. DD likes the Big Kahuna with grilled pineapple and bacon. I like the Old McDonald which has a sauce similar to Big Mac Sauce and just a great burger. DS likes the Peanut Butter Burger--uhmm, yeah, won't be trying that one.

And if you have ever heard of "Ward's" which serves Chili-cheese burgers, they started here with "The Frosty Top". Chili Cheese Burgers and Root-beer in a frosty mug--Yummy!! Wards is on every corner around here.

The Burger Bar in San Francisco is amazing. I went there a handful of times in 2010, and tried something new each time I went, and was impressed each time. So delicious. Be prepared, though, the burgers are quite large. I had a hard time biting into them, so I had to cut them in half and kind of squish them down before I could take a bite. The Kobe beef burger was my favorite (though I recognize it's not 'real' Kobe beef). The sliders are good, too.

Le Tub in Ft Lauderdale, FL has some pretty stellar burgers. They're GINORMOUS, though. You could probably split one between two people, lol. Plus, you can't beat sitting outside at a picnic table along the Intercoastal Waterway.

My favorite burger on the planet is In-N-Out. If I were on death row, I would ask for an In-N-Out double double with animal style fries and a chocolate shake as my last meal.

I can't stand Five Guys. Their burgers are WAY too greasy. Five Guys burgers taste like heart disease to me.

The best locally -
Chain-5 guys. Our 5 guys here is awesome and not greasy. The one i ate at in FL was aweful-but they are franchised so...
Local chain-Larkburger but i go there for the wasabi tuna sandwich and the truffle fries not burgers. Smashburger was 'born' here but the only thing i like there is the tempura veggies.
Local place-the Skirted Heifer-cheese burgers with extra extra cheese allowed to melt into a 'skirt' and carmelize a bit
Best burger ever-The Diamond R Store and Cafe in downtown Zephyr Texas.

We have a local chain that is really good. For chains I usually go with steak and shake or Culvers. We are sort of limited where we live and don't have any of the chains listed in the earlier post. There is a 5 guys not far, but since there are other places I would rather eat at when we are in that area, I don't go often.
