I just bought SSR and am very excited about it. I was just wondering what is your favorite and least favorite dvc resort and why?

Ugh. Are you absolutely sure you want to go there?popcorn::

I haven't stayed at any resorts yet because I just became a member, but my predictions are:

My favorite will be Boardwalk. Followed by SSR.

My least favorite, hands down will be the contemporary if that really is what it is. I just don't like monorail resorts. Well I don't like the monorail period, and many people think I am weird.

My least favorite that is already built is a tie between wilderness lodge and animal kingdom even though we bought there.

We are people who really don't care where the room is as long as it will be dvc. I am sure I will love the animal viewing at AK and will grow to love it but we just don't like AK park for some reason.

And here's a disclaimer just in case I need it, these are my opinions, I know all the resorts are great, and I will probably try to stay at them all at some time. Even comtemporary if and when it is built. These are my predictions for mnyself. Anyone else on this board is more than welcome to love whatever resort they want to, that is their opinion and I respect that they like that for whatever reason they want to.

I've stayed at all of them except BCV. We've never had a bad visit or disliked a resort:

My favorite overall DVC is Disney's Vero Beach Resort. I love it because it's so secluded and beautiful that it feels like being on a private island somewhere. The entire place is just friendly - CMs and guests all seem especially happy and family-like - and everything is laid back. I grew up in Florida, so spending an entire day (or days) in a swimsuit is my idea of :cloud9:

At WDW, my favorites in order would be:

1. AKV - there's not much that can compete with the savanna-view, IMHO. The rooms are stunning (I love the dark interior and African decor). Animal Keepers and savanna guides work 24/7, and the pool is staffed till 10pm in the summer - so there's lots to see/do at night after dinner or the parks.

Tie for second - with the two resorts that are, IMHO, the most polar opposites! :rotfl:

SSR - I love the decor and grounds here. SSR has my favorite CS restaurant anywhere at Disney (including in the parks) and one of my favorite pools. Easy access to DTD means lots of diverse dining options and evening entertainment. Peaceful and quiet. SSR feels the most elegant/upscale (as in - it reminds me of Four Seasons/the Ritz) of the DVC resorts to me - more of a "resort" than a "theme park" vibe.

BWV - I love the boardwalk view and the boardwalk at night. It's also fun to feel like you are living inside a theme park. I don't love everything about the resort - but it's by far the most whimsical and I spend most of my resort time on the balcony and BWV has my favorite WDW view.

Least favorites:

VWL - it's a beautiful resort with great dining but it's just too quiet at night for me.

OKW - I grew up in Florida and so, ironically, OKW just does not "feel" like being in Disney to me - it "feels" like visiting my Aunt Susie! But for the vast majority of owners that did not have an Aunt Susie that lives on a golf course and decorates her house just. like. that. - it's so perfectly Florida! :rotfl:

HHI - I am not a big fan of the beach at HH & I wish they had dining at the resort (I've yet to find a restaurant at Shelter Cove that was not overpriced). I think the resort is really cool and beautiful and has great CMs. That said - the beach itself at HH is much gentler for kids (and has lifeguards) than the one at Vero, and I'd absolutely go back with the family.

I just don't like monorail resorts. Well I don't like the monorail period, and many people think I am weird.

I don't like the monorail at all - but I do think the fact you can see and walk to the MK will make CRV a very nice place to stay!

Here's hoping for a zero-entry pool, AKV-style sleeper chairs in the one-bedrooms, and big balconies!

We have not stayed at too many of the resorts but have seen most. My favorite is AKV mostly because of the animals which I would never grow tired of watching. (Even better than people watching IMO) Next would be a tie between VWL and OKW. I love the rooms at OKW and the very large porches. I love the grounds and lodge at VWL and the lake. My least favorite is probably SSR. I actually grew up in Saratoga NY and SSR does not remind me of home at all. I do like the easy walk from Congress Park to DTD though.

With that said, I have not stayed at BCV yet and I suspect that I will really like that one. Also have not stayed at HHI but I think I would rather stay at the Marriott GO there so I'm on the beach.

In all, you really can't go wrong with any of the DVCs because the units are reasonable sized, the service is of high quality and your in the place of magic which makes you all tingly inside.:3dglasses

We haven't stayed at them all, but have visited them.

My favorites in declining order are:

OKW -our home resort; love the atmosphere, the size of the units, and the way you can pull your car right up to the unit

VWL - I love the atmosphere at this resort, the launch to the MK, the main pool and the quiet pool. Don't like schleping groceries from the parking lot.

HHI - love the atmosphere, the Beach House, walking to the restaurants at Shelter Cove. It's on a wonderful Island.

BC - we haven't stayed here, but I think I would like the location, the atmosphere, SAB, walking to the Boardwalk.

SSR - location was nice; ability to walk to DTD was nice; liked parking right in front of the building

BWV - I don't like the distance of your parked car to the unit, or the long hallways. I also didn't like the balconies. I do like the location and all the activites on the boardwalk.

AKL - we haven't stayed here but have eaten here a few times and walked around. No offense, but I just don't get the attraction people have to this resort. The lobby is pretty.

I agree. I do not like the monorail either. I'm also not big on spending all that money to sleep in a train station. However, the MK view side of BLT would be nice at night. Also, there was a floor plan on another thread before and it really looked like there maybe a stacked washer/dryer in the studio part as well as the 1 BR. If this is true, I could really get behind BLT for week stays when it is just DW and I. :cool1:

In order of 1 is my favourite, 5 is my least, these are my preferences for the WDW DVC resorts:

  1. OKW (beauty, many pools, space, lush planting, theming and low points usage)
  2. SSR (many pools, space, landscaping, walking paths)
  3. BCV (beauty, location)
  4. BWV (location)
  5. VWL (location)
  6. AKV (no quiet pool, little walking grounds)

Oooooooooh. If this becomes a reality I would be so happy. Forget the king size bed and jacuzzi tub - all I really need is a washer and dryer! I hate damp towels and swimsuits!

I like Boardwalk because I have little kiddos so I love the easy ability to push the double jogger to MGM (now HS) and Epcot. Of course the same can be said about BCV but I've never stayed there.

OKW is awesome because of the room sizes and the relaxing atmosphere but we felt it was rather spread out and that made it hard to get to the main pool and little grocery store easily just for quick trips

SSR is new and beautiful but is also rather spread out. The pool is awesome here as well

I can't say anything about the other resorts because I've never stayed there but I have had a chance to visit each of them (except HH and VB), love what I saw and am excited to stay at them!!

My favorite resorts are BCV #1 and VWL #2. I love the theming of these resorts, the pools and the proximity to our 2 favorite parks (MK and Epcot). We really feel in the center of things and yet away from the parks when we need some relaxing down time.

My least favorite is SSR. This doesn't feel like a resort to me, more like a condo complex or a gated community. I'm not a fan of AKV's either because it feels soooo far away from things and we're not big fans of AK park. We spend 1/2 day there and that's enough for us. The resort is very beautiful , however.

That would be awsome:thumbsup2 Last trip we were in a studio at OKW. I had to drive my rental care to wash cloths at midnight til 1:30 in the morning. The security guard must have thought I was crazy. If it was in our room just load the washer relax. :worship:

My favorite is BWV.

I have a hard time saying anything bad about any of negative about any DVC's. I love them all so much. I serriously can't find anything bad about any of them. I stay at them all each is great.

Favorite - BCV

I hate to pick a "least favorite" at all, because we love them all...but I guess we love SSR the least of the three we've stayed at...AKV, BCV, & SSR.

We have never stayed in the Contemporary until we tried it out as our "crash and burn" resort. We received a YOMD upgrade to the Tower and Concierge. If this is the view from BLT, then I can see an add on in our future. Now I have to get goofydad on board.;)

Favorite: OKW. We like the neighborhood feel to it. I already think the BLT villas are going to be our second faves, since we love the CR.
Least Favorite: BWV. Just don't care for anything about it. We also don't like the idea of the mini Jambo AKV villas, but are looking forward to trying Kidani someday.

How fantastic!!! Made my day hearing that. Lovely.

Hmmm. DVCs. OP, sometimes your mind - what you think you'll love - doesn 't match the vibe when you actually stay there. Strange but true.

I thought I would dislike AKV. I love "light". And it's so dark. But loved the resort. Soothing interiors.

Thought BCV was it for me years ago, the be all and end all, when I was dreaming of DVC. Stayed there a couple of years ago - nice - but just felt that, nice.

We've stayed at all - except VB. I hope to stay there soon.

It depends on the vacation. I do a lot of non-park vacations. So I'm at SSR and hang out a lot at DD etc. etc. And I like them all.

So my list would be:

1) BWV - location, ambience - especially at night on the BW, love the standard points and front area. Standard views are very peaceful.

2) VWL - aaaah, location, relaxing, main lodge, food court (prefer CS sometimes) secluded - feels that way anyway ( I can't wait for Contemporary but I hate that you can see the new building from the WL/VWL beach. Hate that. The main building was hidden so that you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere)

And then it just becomes what kind of vacation I want - no order:

* HHI - just love it, those trees speak to one's soul, beach house

*AKV - a new love, nothing like a savannah room, soothing interiors

*OKW - balcony - forget all the other lovely factors - that balcony gets me every time.

*SSR - like hanging out at DD, food selection b/c of DD, and direct buses to other resorts so close to SSR - at DD

*BCV - SAB, close to BW

AND I'm sure VB will wow me one day - hopefully soon.

I'm so glad I really enjoy all of them for different reasons. I wouldn't want to worry about getting one resort.
