Favorite things about Animal Kingdom?

if you can, go to kil safari as early as you can as the animals are much more active ( hardly saw anything in the pm)

lion king is excellent.

take time to drink in the surroundings, look around at all the details, they are amazing

the gorilla exhibit is wonderful so take your time to wander the trails and talk to the cms they know a lot about the animals.

i thought planet watch area was interesting. we went late in the day and the cm was preparing food for the animals and had an interesting conversation with her. however i think the vets work early if you want to see that( there may be a schedule not sure,)

Kilimanjaro Safari - get there first and get a fast pass; Jammin Jungle Parade; Conservation Station - characters & a petting zoo area; Camp Mickey-Minnie for characters; Lion King show; Dinosaur dig. Don't forget to take time on the trails to see all the animals.

The safari first thing in the morning and the Festival of the Lion King are by far our favorite attractions. But please take some time to really enjoy the lush and varied landscapes that make up the trails and backdrops of AK. They are a hidden gem!

Our favorite things about AK were, seeing DeVine, watching and participating in Flights of Wonder, Festival of the Lion King, Dinosaur, on the Maharajah Jungle Trek, my dd3 saw "Tigger" and "Bambi", everyone loves Kilimanjaro Safaris, and we liked eating at Restaurantosaurus and Tusker House.

You should keep you eye out for DeVine, she blends in with the scenery!

We love the safari, Lion King and watching DeVine.
We took a Safari once in a light rain in the late afternoon and the animals were super active. It was GREAT!

Festival of the Lion King....THE BEST !! :flower:

Festival of the Lion King
Kali Rapids
Tarzan Rocks
Safari
Tough To Be A Bug

Beware of the very strong smell of fresh cookies by Lion King :dog2:

The Festival of The Lion King --BEST show in all of WDW in my opinion!!!!
Safari ride--Try to do it first thing in the morning to get lots of animal activity
Dinosaur--this is a little intense for young riders but it is SO MUCH FUN!
It's Tough To Be A Bug 3D show -- again a little intense for young ones but GREAT!!!!

My very favorite thing at AK is "It's Tough To Be A Bug". I skipped this the first time because I am very spider phobic. Once I actually saw the "spiders"
I felt kind of.....stupid. I told myself ...."Awww Come on - I am an adult, and these spiders could not possibly be more cartoonish".

The one thing that really bugs me (excuse the pun) is parents who underestimate how scared their children really will be. Some of the screams of really young children sound very real.

Kali River Rapids is great - bring ziplock baggies for stuff that don't need to get wet. There are closable storage bins on each raft but after the first few rides even these have quite a bit of water in them.

It's Tough to be a Bug is really good.

Festival of the Lion King show is a favorite of ours - sit close to the 'stage' if you want your kids to potentially be part of the show. Sitting higher up is better for videotaping/photos though.

Primeval Whirl is a very fun little 'crazy-mouse' type roller coaster.

The Flights of Wonder bird show is pretty cool. My son is an avid birdwatcher so this is always very high on our list.

Tarzan Rocks is supposed to be really good - we haven't seen it. It will end soon. When we were there last week (Sat.) it was delayed indefinitely. According to the Cast Member directing people away, something died under the stage and they couldn't get the carcass out. She noticed all of our shirts (Univ. of Tenn. & she was from Nashville) and told us what was going on. Some of the characters and dancers were doing meet 'n' greets so it wasn't a total bummer for us.

'Wandering' attractions:
DeVine is really cool. We lucked into her in the heavily forested trail between Africa & Asia. What tipped us off was the 'unattended' character handler. The African band that plays sometimes outside of Tusker House is good.

Eats:
Donald's Breakfastosaurus is good - character meal so it can be crowded - buffet serving.

Pizzafari is a great counter service that has pizzas (d'oh) and an excellent chicken caesar salad.

Tusker House is also a great counter service that has excellent savory rotissery (sp?) chicken halfs. They also have a good looking turkey wrap / corn chowder that we didn't get ('cuz we were noshing on the chicken).

By the way - We were just at Animal Kingdom last Saturday (10.15.05). I was walking across the bridge into Africa and I overheard a Cast Member saying that 'soft' opening for Expedition Everest would happen in February. See some of the relatively recent Mission:Space 'soft' opening threads for strategies to get in for the 'soft' openings. Depending on your visit timing that may work out as an option.

I'm 22 years old and I am going to be honest with all of you here... I had to hide my face when the spiders came down. I was scared. However, since we are on the topic of AK favourites... it is definitely on my list!

I also agree with the Lion King... Tarzan Rocks is fun for the little ones... I didn't get on Dinosaur yet 'cause it was shut down when I went last and the Safari is great!

I LOVE all of Animal Kingdom--it's my favorite park! :goodvibes

Like everyone has said, don't miss Kilimanjaro Safaris! If you can do it early in the morning, you will see lots of animals. If you get a chance, though, go back and do it again around lunch time. Sometimes there are different animals who are awake/active then.

There are lots of characters in Camp Minnie-Mickey, so don't miss that if you like characters! ::MickeyMo

In addition to Donald's Breakfastosaurus, Pizzafari, & Tusker House, Flame Tree BBQ has excellent food!

Don't miss Tarzan Rocks! We love this show and they are taking it away soon! Festival of the Lion King is also great!

Make sure to see the Maharajah Jungle Trek--I love the tigers, and the fruit bats are my favorite!

AND, last but not least, don't miss the Jammin' Jungle Parade! It is my favorite parade in any of the parks! :cool1:

I would have to say my favorite is the lion king show, it is what made me go to broadway. Kil safari and the gorilla path are also great. If you have young, (but not to young) kids the 3d bugs life is great. They recommend you don't take to young of children and i did take my youngest when he was 2 or 3 and we had to leave. :earsgirl:
