I am curious as to which seats people prefer on rides? I know on most of the Fantasyland rides it doesn't really matter (but are the yellow tea cups still the fastest?!), but what about rides like California Screamin' and Big Thunder Mountain?

Oh! And what about the new Luigi ride? Is there a color of car that has a more fun ride experience than others?

Just thought it would be a fun topic. Love to hear what everyone thinks!

I've never thought about what seats I like other than those that are driest on wet rides.
I'm looking forward to what others have to say.

The back on BTMRR, the front on Space mountain and California Screamin'. Though the back of CS is also really fun.

My kids prefer the back on BTMRR, the front on CS, Matterhorn, Splash, and Space. On Soarin, we prefer the center, front row.

For luigis I was trying to figure if certain cars always had the same "role" in the dance routine. It did not seem like it, and seemed to be on random rotation. But I did not get to fully look into it. RsR I liked the front "drivers" seat. Also IJ the drivers seat is pretty cool too.

YESSS!! That's actually my first memory of Disneyland - being 6 years old and riding IJ for the first time, sitting in the driver seat. My family went for the 40th Anniversary. That's why I'm putting Indy at the top of my list for first rides when I get there next week!

For sure the front on Screamin' and the back on BTMRR!!! Oh and we think BTMRR runs faster at night! LOL

Well, let me ask this: which rides actually have a different experience in different seats? Tiki Room, JC (maybe), Indy (that skeleton creeps me out), Splash (I hate sloshing around in the back), BTMRR (biggest difference), Casey Junior (what kind of animal do you want to be), Gadget's, Matterhorn (FL or TL), SM, ST (oh, gosh, I'm sick)... am I missing any others?

Rides in CA!

Soarin', RSR, Luigi's.

I'm just curious to see what peoples' preferences are, and if anyone has a tradition of always asking to sit in the front or back of a specific ride :)

Soarin' get's distortion, but RSR and Luigi's are the same ride no mater where you sit, right?

We always wait for the first 4 rows on splash, since it's too dry in the back! The first time I rode, DD and I shared the back seat in the log and a man that looked like he could have been a football player sat in front of us - we were completely dry when we got off!

We choose our seats based on where the kids will show up in the photos. For Screamin' it's the front, or the front section. For RSR it's the back, since the bar on the top of the windshield blocks their faces when they sit in the front. We also prefer to ride in the red or burgundy coloured cars on RSR because DS thinks they will win because they are Lightening's colour.

I have a funny story about IJ and the front row-drivers seat. In 2010 I went with my son, dil, DGD-5 and DGS-8 to DLR for their first visit.
On IJ my DGS was in the driver's seat and had his hands on the steering . As we're going through the wild and bumpy ride my DGD kept telling him to slow down and not to drive so crazy. She was convinced he was really driving through the ride.

If given a choice, on fast rides I like the front or last rows.
For rides with photos the front row. Or sitting behind a smaller person.

I have read on another forum that Luigis is set by position not which car.
"If you face the cars in the queue about to get on, there are two chunks of cars, left and right. On the left chunk of cars, the car in the back middle will be the middle dancer. On the right chunk of cars, the car in the back left will be the middle dancer."
I haven't had a chance to check it out and confirm though.

Definitely the back on BTMRR, you really get whipped around. I like sitting on the right side of the boat on JC, I feel like most of the show scenes are on that side. Oh, and for sure front row on ToT, at night, is the best!

We like the back of Splash so we don't get soaked. I also like the back of Pirates because the boat pops up as it drops down and I think the thrill is greatest in the back. Last time we rode they weren't letting groups bigger than 2 sit in the back though. Bummer!

I'm just a front lover! The front on Matterhorn because I like seeing everything without anyone in front of me. The front of Splash because it adds to the thrill factor in the drops. And I actually like the front on BTMRR. I like being right behind the "engine" and kinda dangling down the drop as the rest of the train is cresting the hill before the drop. (The engine blocks one's view, but adds to the theming of the ride at the same time for me.) Now, when it comes to Indy any seat is a great seat for me, I just love the ride that much!
