You're definitely going to get a huge variety of answers, but just like real-estate, one huge thing its about is location location location! If you have any idea which park you'll spend at the most (i.e. most families with little kids visit MK the most, hence it would be convenient (if profitable) to stay on the monorail line or at WL.) If you have any idea of which park that you would visit the most, this would help greatly. Here's a list for you...
MK Deluxe: Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge
MK Moderate: N/A
MK Value: N/A
EPCOT Deluxe: Yacht & Beach Club, Boardwalk, Swan & Dolphin
EPCOT Moderate: Caribbean Beach
EPCOT Value: N/A
AK Deluxe: Animal Kingdom Lodge
AK Moderate: Coronado Springs
AK Value: All-Stars
And then not near any of the parks...
DTD Moderate: Port Orleans
Wide World of Sports Value: Pop Century
So just as some preliminary work, I'd try to decide in what area you'd like to stay the most and then start to focus on those. If there's multiple levels of resorts in that area (Deluxe, Moderate, Value) then I would look at which ones are in your price range and then start more in-depth searching!
