In all of our DVC years we have never pool hopped. We may try it this trip with 2 kids, ages 5 and 9. What pool would you recommend? TIA

We've never done it before but I noticed a paragraph in the Disney files magazine that was trying to promote it, but then followed it by pool hopping is never available at AoA, BLT, DCR, AKL, DWL, BCR, YCR, Poly (apologies for any wrong acronyms). They also mention that it's not available during peak times.

Doesn't really feel like a perk :(

It might be easier for them just to say where it actually IS available ;)

The only pool I could ever see us hopping to is BWV, just based on the proximity to both EPCOT and DHS. It seems like it would be easy and a nice break. Otherwise, I would just use the pool where I am staying.

BWV is the one with the freaky clown? Yea that would be good. Aside from that, to be honest I think I would just go to the water parks instead :)

What about a day at Magic Kingdom and then hop over to the Grand Floridian to swim. I've always found it strange their pool is not on the no hop list.

My favorite pool is the Paddock Pool at SSR, but I wouldn't make a special trip just to swim there.

My kids just enjoy the pool. Not enough to hop to another resort for. I we were looking for something other than our own pool we would go to a waterpark. Not sure why people would take the time and effort of hopping. My daughter still talks about the piano pool at ASM more than SAB so that is why we dont even think about hoping. My two cents

My favorite used to be the Poly, but that's no longer allowed. My kids liked the sea serpent slide at POFC when they were young. We also visited and enjoyed the pool at CSR.

It doesn't appear that DVC members can legitimately pool hop to non-DVC resorts.

    Amber from AB Asked“
I read that you could use pools at hotels that were similar, (ie. port orleans French quarters guests at port orleans riverside). We are staying at pop century in October. Can we visit any other hotel pools?”
Hi, Amber! In Disney terms, this is called "pool hopping", and generally, it is not permitted. The exceptions to that rule include, as you mention, guests staying at Port Orleans French Quarter may use the resort pool at Port Orleans Riverside - and vice versa. If you are staying at an All Star resort, you may use the pools at any of the All Star resorts. Members of Disney Vacation Club may use the pools at most of the other Disney Vacation Club resorts (there are blackout dates and some exclusions).

The resorts that allow pool hopping are kind of like "sister" resorts - they are in very close proximity to each other. Guests of those resorts can usually walk between each other to access the pools. Pop Century stands on it's own, and there aren't any resorts that allow park hopping with Pop Century.

My gang loves the Pop Century Hippy Dippy Pool! I hope your family feels the same way!

I agree, Kathy. I looked all over the DVC site to find pool hopping info but the only thing I can find is the winter issue of Disney Files, which lists the excluded resorts but allows hopping to all other resorts, DVC or not.
Thanks to all for your ideas. We really don't want to do a waterpark this trip because it would pretty much burn a day. The kids both like BWV pool slide but they have been to BWV so many times (no one ever seems interested in trying another resort) that we thought it might be fun to let them try a pool somewhere else. Maybe if they have fun they might consider trying a different resort for some future trip!

I haven't been but always thought the main pool at Coronado Springs looked fun and it has a longer slide. Apparently the pool is second in size only to SAB although it doesn't have all the same features like the Lazy River. Otherwise SSR offers the 2 featured pools. Close to the MK park would be the VGF pool or the main pool at the CR.

We didn't pool hop there technically, but we did the SSR pools when we were staying in a THV, so we drove over to SSR. We made a day of it (non-parks trip) and enjoyed checking out different parts of the resort. Kids loved the Paddock and Springs pools. Our favorite pool in terms of activities is the main pool at OKW. You could eat at Olivia's while there.

The Contemporary is on the pool hop list. BLT is not available for hopping. GF, both pools, are available for hopping. OKW and SSR are available for hopping, as is POR and POFQ. CBR and CSR are both available. No YC, BC, BCV. No Polynesian because they only have one pool, same as WL. Maybe it will change when those other pools are open again. No to AKV/AKL pools (neither of them). Yes to all the Value Resorts except for AoA. Yes to FW.

Mom's Panel is crazy and is often very very wrong. As they are here.

We have hopped to Coronado's pool, and apart from it being high lovebug season there that day, the pool was very pleasant.

Not sure why I haven't thought about going to POR's pool. That's definitely on my list. :)

And honestly? The value resorts have nice big proper pools for swimming, and I like them a lot. :)

I agree with prior posters about the pool at Coronado Springs -- love that Jaguar Slide. The hot tub is also the largest on property, unless a rehab has changed that. Plus the dig zone is fun for children.
