One thing we enjoy doing each year is driving a short drive to Winter Park community. They have a pontoom boat trip that takes you to 3 lakes through canals from one lake to the next. The Driver narrates. Beautiful homes and grounds. I think it is $7.50.

We are going December 4th to Orlando. Plan to do it again.
Restaurant.com has a pizza place with a coupon. Looks like a nice place for lunch in Winter Park. Good sandiches, salads, pizza. Anyway use the code 45665 and the have it recalculate. We are going with another couple. Read the certificate because you have to spend $30 to use it. We won't have any trouble with the 4 of us. Have a great trip!

We like to take a walk around the lake at boardwalk, and lay in the hammock at beach club, get an ice cream at beaches and cream, then you can sneak between swan and dolphin, across the street, and there's fantasia golf, which is usually where we started from.
Or you can ride the boat from DTD to POR and walk around over there, then you can walk from there over to POFQ, and get some binyaas. (i don't even know how to spell that, it's those little french doughnuts.)

Didnt go there... but on the monorail coming from Grand Floridian to MK there was a long stretch of walkway along the lagoon that looked so beachy and romantic. I didnt see anyone walk there though, so I wonder if it was closed.

That walkway goes from MK behind the POLY/GF boat dock, to about half way to GF. It ends with a park bench at the end.

It's nice......but there are mosquitos over there..... "we" didn't stay over there for very long. :(

Thanks for the great ideas. We are very new to the whole Disney Experience. Where is Beaches and Cream..and how late are they open??

DH and I LOVED riding the boats from DTD around the canals. We could smell the night blooming jasmine growing and the whole thing was so romantic. Coming back towards DTD was beautiful all lit up at night.

where do you get on the boats at DTD? I watched them last year at night I thought they were running peeps across to westside. Is there a way to get to westside without the walk? Also what does it cost for the boat ride? I am leaving Friday Morning

the boardwalk is a great place to go to. during our trips, we just roamed wherever we felt like it. we try to go hotel hopping during our trips. we like to explore places we haven't been to just to see if it's worth spending more time there, like resort hopping and checking out stores we haven't been to in DTD. that's what we do.

Yes I agree, I stayed at the Grand Floridian with my boyfriend for a whole week. It's beautiful! All the architecture, free decorative food in the main building(If you stay in the concierge suites), perfect view of the lake, and right next to the Wedding Pavilion (which is always perfect for a hint to your boyfriend when you are not married).

But I must say the Contemporary Resort looked the best, view into the park if you stay on the Lake/Park view. Perfect for firework viewing at night (also a walk away from the park, not that you see anyone walk there).

Stay safe :earsgirl: hope it doesn't rain!

Romantic horse drawn carriage ride thru Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside: $40 w/ tip
Romantic boat cruise from Port Orleans resort to DTD: $0
Delicious dinner for two at Wolfgang Puck's Express in DTD: $25
Having a moment or two of romantic adult time while vacationing at WDW with your family: PRICELESS

:rotfl:

The prices I listed are estimates but it's definitely alot of bang for your buck! Have a great time! :goodvibes

We loved to roam the World Showcase, espically Italy and Morroco. Shortly before Illuminations the pavillions are somewhat empty and great time to stroll around checking everything out.

This year we are planning on checking out the beach at the Poly for Wishes.

We got on the boats near the Rainforest cafe area. There is a dock there. They are meant for the guests staying at the hotels that are on the canals, but if they aren't busy they will let you ride them. Just walk up and get on. Free. DH and I certainly didn't abuse them, we just got on and rode around the canal once. It was so nice and relaxing and the boats weren't full at the time we were there.

We love going to the boardwalk and grabing a corn dog. The boardwalk is just a really nice place to hang out and people watch.

Too funny...i like the " Priceless" Quote by QueenOfCelts too funny.

Thanks everyone for the ideas..I am going to run them by DH tonight!

Karla thanks for the tip. In fact I would like to go check out the Boatwright resturant on Port Orleans. Im sure that is reason enought to get on the boats. I never new they docked near Rainforst Cafe. Cool tip.
