So my local (Sacramento) friends and I were out and we were discussing my upcoming trip. We usually all like suites, in my case generally we have about 5-8 people with us and suite is cheaper then 2 rooms usually. This time we chose the DLH and I have to wonder how all 5 of us are going to fit in there comfortably, granted two are 3&2 but the 2 year old isn't in a crib and the last time I tried to put him in a pack and play the drama was high in that one.

I learned that most people will find a hotel and stick with it. For us? we like the staybridges 2 bdr suite. Another mom likes the portofino inn with the kid suite.

I see a lot of talk of the HoJo on here.

Which hotel suite, do you like and why?

We like the staybridges due to the cleanliness, often times even though we're there to have fun my kids need down time, but hubby and I don't. The breakfast (hot buffet) was GREAT there. The pool was nice as well. Hubby and I had a king bed, kids had 2 doubles in their room.. we had a full kitchen. Which no I didn't cook but I LOVE having a fridge for my milk addicts.

When it comes to suites, I like...

The 2 Bedroom/2 room suite at Residence Inn Anaheim Resort Area/Garden Grove because of the kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, living room, spaciousness, buffet breakfast, evening reception, kids' Disney movie theatre and kiddie pool.

The suites at Embassy Suites Anaheim - South because of room set-up, breakfast and manager's reception.

The 2 queen beds/1 bedroom suite with kitchen at the Hampton Inn & Suites Los Angeles/Anaheim-Garden Grove because of the spaciousness, buffet breakfast and the Hampton's On the Run breakfast bags.

(My only dislike about these hotels... the distance from the park.)

We really like the following:

Embassy Suites South - great rooms and a great hot breakfast and appitizers and drinks in the evening. A little too far to walk IMO.

Hilton Suites - great rooms and a great hot breakfast as well although Embassy breakfasts are better. Too far to walk.

HOJO suites, they are a little harder to come by. There is only 1 King suite and 1 queen suite otherwise the have the kids suites with bunk beds. They are nice but no breakfast. Can walk from hotel.

There are several others that are closer that have suites but not as nice as the ones listed above IMO.

We are going to DL for the first time in June. We will be traveling with our 6 month old and 3 year old. We wanted a suite because that way we can put the kids to bed and still have a little time for ourselves too.

I booked on the DL website and used the instant message tool to speak with a DL representative. We decided to stay at a good neighbor hotel called Homewood Suites by Hilton. It was recommended to us because it has a full kitchen (stove, fridge, microwave), there is both a free breakfast and an evening reception (which includes soda, beer and wine), there is a shuttle to the park and free wi-fi. We debated between this one and the Embassy Suites. The deciding factor for us was the free evening reception and the wi-fi.

While I haven't stayed there yet the DL representative really made it sound like a great place to stay.

Good luck. I'm sure you will find something great.

Thank you very much, that is very sweet of you :)
This time we're actually at DLH :) I was just wondering what everyone's favorite was because, we often get comfortable with what we like and we might miss a better option :)

We like the RI maingate, about 1/2 mile away. Hot breakfast, managers specials, free grocery shopping, full kitchen, nice pool. Worked well for the 6 of us.

We stayed in the kids suite in Portofino for a few nights and I was not impressed at all, it was so dirty (pizza crust on the floor, garbage in the couch when pulled out the bed, toy in the sheets of my bed, phone didn't work, toilet clogged etc.). I complained but luckily we were only there two nights and moved to the Residence Inn Maingate, it is on Clementine and we walked to and from the park twice a day with three little kids. It was a little long at night but sidewalk is nice and much faster than shuttle or driving, you can take the shuttle if you want it comes to the hotel, we just hate folding stroller all up and loading up kids for such a short distance (1/2 mile at most)

We LOVED the full kitchen, pool area, breakfast and on weeknights they have snacks (nachos, cookies, hot dogs/hamburgers). Would have loved to get the two bedroom but the one bedroom suite with two queens worked for us, we stayed one week. Staff was awesome with everything, I highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed there (Homewood Suites) a few years ago and loved it. At the time, we had a three-year old and four month old. We brought my DM along to help out, and it was just perfect. We needed a little extra space, and having a small kitchen was great.

Which of these hotels has a dedicated shuttle? I'm finding that most use ART, right? Which you have to pay for each day. Do any suite hotels have a free, dedicated shuttle?

We are Homewood veterans I guess you could say. It is our hotel of choice if when we can get a good deal. It also has free grocery shopping service same as Residence Inn, manager's reception, etc. They have tried to up the ante there to be competitive with RI. And your DL rep was correct, it is a great place to stay.

The only hotels that I know of with their own free shuttle would be Hyatt - they have suites and Candy Cane which doesn't have suites. Hmmm there is one other, but I can't think of the name....Anaheim Plaza?

Edited to say It is the Sheraton.

Hyatt Orange County. They have amazing Suites on Sale rates. We stayed there at Thanksgiving and were completely blown away by the service we received there. LOVED the decor and the HUGE room we got for an amazing price. LOVED IT! They have their own shuttle bus which ran like clockwork. I want to say it is at the corner of Harbor and Chapman.....it is very close to Homewood Suites.

I recommend it highly.:thumbsup2

We really like Staybridge. We have stayed there before (once, the other time was Grand Californian) and for the price it can't be beaten! We are going back in August, and we initially looked into renting a house in Anaheim, but the house would have been $2400, whereas the suite at Staybridge was only $1300. It has always been clean and comfortable, with enough room, and free breakfast. I think its pretty great!

I'll vote for the Residence Inns - Garden Grove is usually cheaper than the Maingate, but the rooms at either are nice and spacious with full kitchens, the breakfasts/snacks are always decent, and we don't mind driving since its so much cheaper than on-site.
