Favorite No Bake Holiday Desert?

Whats your favorite no bake holiday desert/treat? I have nothing against baking.. .do it all the time, but we have a large family (extended) and when we all get together to make treats, we seem to run short of oven space...

My Families Favorite is
Ritz Crackers
Peanut Butter
Chocolate Melt (or Choclate candy coating... something that melts, then hardens back up)
We make peanutbutter sandwiches with the crackers & Peanut butter, then dip them in choclate, lay on wax paper to harden and then package up.

Super Yummy! and since it's messy to make, the kids of course LOVE to make these :) by the way, calories never count in holiday cooking right ;)

Ok, just why did you feel the need to share that recipe? ;)

Off to store to buy Ritz crackers, have peanut butter and buy Chocolate. If I gain more weight, it is all your fault. lol

Anything with peanut butter and choc and you don't have to bake it, is trouble waiting to happen for me.

most of the suggestions are for candy type desserts which all sound very delicious, but a no-bake we grew up on ,and my kids like is what we call Pop-Pop's dessert. ( because my Dad made it and not my mom lol) anyway recipe is as follows:

1 box graham crackers ( any variety)
12 large bananas
1 tub milk chocolate icing

In a 9 X 13 in pan, alternate 1 layer of graham crackers with 1 layer of sliced bananda until you have 4 layers of graham crackers and 3 layers of bananas. Icing the top layer ( which should be graham crackers) with the chocolate icing. Refridgerate overnight so the graham crackers will soften.

This is something even a young child could do alone or with a friend. Bananas can usualy be sliced with a plastic knife or even a table knife. And it wouldn't matter if the crackers broke as once they soften they become like a cakey texture.

Buckeyes/Peanut Butter Balls: Peanut butter, melted and mixed with melted butter and confectionary sugar and dipped in melted dark chocolate/chocolate chips.

US TOO! I do crushed graham crackers with the peanut butter~ they are heavenly and I try not to make them too often.

I AM SO HUNGRY NOW!

Wow, these are some great ideals everyone..... Thank you!

(I think after just reading these suggestions, I need to do some more :yay: exercise)

Caramel wrapped pretzel rods dipped in chocolate and drizzled with white red and green candy melts. Festive and delicious. We cut carmel apple wraps into strips and wrap the pretzel rods in them rather than dipping in melted carmel. Just b/c it saves time. After all the candy sets up we wrap put a half dozen in a clear cello bag and tie with red and green curling ribbon.

Could someone pretty please post the receipted for the buckeyes. I remember these growing up. I think that is why I love Reese's.

Cut Glass Pie also known as stained glass pie - it's really pretty for Christmas or Easter: This one is time consuming to make as it's several steps over several days to make and does require some stove top cooking but amazing to eat. My kids love it. It's various colors of jello jigglers cut in small blocks folded into pineapple whipped cream gelatin served in a graham cracker crust and topped with graham cracker crumbs.

This is a really good idea. I'm going to watch for the carmel apple wraps to go on sale after the fall season.

We do the dipped pretzel rods too, but instead of carmel, I push the pretzel rod down into a jar of peanut butter and then into the chocolate. Roll in chopped peanuts. Delish!

We like Reese's Peanut butter dessert, peanut butter and chocolate melted over top of it in a cookie sheet then cut them in squares.

Also cornflake wreaths, these are cooked over the stovetop. Marshmallows butter and cornflakes with green food coloring and shaped into wreaths, even my 4 year old loves these.

Yeah, I'm not very crafty anymore, but what I do for the "family" meals is I'll take a box of Jello No-Bake cheesecake and I'll make individual "pies" in muffin cups. That way I won't have a really big serving.:goodvibes

If you like s'mores...

Melt one bag of marshmallows in 3 tbsp of melted butter. Stir in a 14 oz box of Golden Grahams and 1/2 to 3/4 cup of chocolate chips. Press into the bottom of a buttered 9 x13 pan. Cut into bars and eat.

I love to make no-bake goodies at Christmas. Some of my favorites are Hello Dollies(some people call them 6-layer cookies), Chocolate Butterscotch Krispies, Haystacks, and People Chow. :cool1:. Yum yum!!!

CHOCOLATE ECLAIR DESSERT

1 box graham crackers
2 (3 oz.) boxes French vanilla pudding (instant)
3 c. milk
1 (8 oz.) Cool Whip

Butter sides and bottom of 9 x 13 inch pan - line bottom with whole crackers. Beat pudding with milk until thick - fold in Cool Whip. Pour 1/2 pudding over crackers. Place second layer of crackers, the second layer of pudding, then final layer of crackers. Pour frosting over crackers (when hot). Refrigerate 24 hours.

FROSTING:

3 tbsp. butter
2 oz. cocoa
2 tbsp. white Karo syrup
3 tbsp. milk
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar

Melt butter with cocoa, add all other ingredients and mix well.

Buckeye's:

1 18 oz jar of Peanut butter - I melt it in the microwave for 1 minute for a smoother blend but you don't have to.
1/2 lb of butter melted
1 lb of confectionary sugar

Blend together peanut butter and butter until smooth. Slowly add confectionary sugar until well mixed and smooth. Cover and set aside/refrigerate until completely cooled.

Melt in double boiler over low heat a 12 oz. pkg of Semi-sweet Chocolate; you can use the melts, or Nestle chocolate bits - I prefer Dove. The recipe calls for the waxed chocolate to get a better set, but I hate the taste so I omit and refrigerate when not being served.

Roll the cooled peanut butter mixture into 1/2 inch to 1 inch balls - to taste. Using a toothpick dip 3/4 of the way into the melted chocolate. Set on wax paper to cool.

Cherries in the snow
Store bought graham cracker crust(set a side)

I make my own graham cracker crust and make individual desserts. I also make some with blueberry pie filling.
