Favorite Magic Servers

We will be sailing on the Magic this December and would like to request a server. We had hoped to request the Assistant Server that we had on the Wonder, who told us he would be moving to the Magic. However, my dh emailed him and he is at home right now. When we returns, he will be on the Wonder. (So if you are going on the Wonder and would like to request a wonderful assistant server, ask for Roberto Savanelli from Italy. Also, our main server was Aaron Lonoy on the Wonder and he was amazing too!)

So now we will be on the Magic and would love to hear your thoughts: Do you have a favorite server?

Just a curious question, but why do people want to request servers? I could understand it if you have had a server in the past that you had a great experience with, but to go into a cruise specifically to request a server you have not ever experienced, based on other people's opinion...I don't get it. Why not just take the servers you are assigned and maybe they will wow you?

I mean my favorite server may not be someone you like.

Some people just like to have "all their ducks in a row". Many of us don't request specific servers. Mostly because we've had good service from all the servers that have been randomly assigned to us.

I will point out, however, if a returning cruiser requests a previous server, it often shows in their record as a good thing. It can be helpful for promotions, scheduling, extra time off.

We had Brandon from South Africa on two Magic cruises this Fall and he was awesome. Nary from Italy was his assistant server. Simone pronounced (Si-moan-e) from Italy as head server and he was fantastic.

We had Simone has our head server this summer on the British Isles cruise. He was the best head server we have ever had on a Disney cruise. Very hands on and helpful! Our server Joe was terrific!

We had the most amazing servers on our Magic cruise in March. Ricky and Darma. They were phenomenal, made us feel totally comfortable and helped us play a fabulous joke on one of our group on the last night.

We had Richard and Joy as our servers last month.They went above and beyond and Joy truly lives up to her name.

Wow, thanks so much for the suggestions! Since Brandon & Nary (and Simone as head server) are mentioned twice, I think I should make Brandon as my first request....but the others listed here sound really awesome too!

Jose Luis can not be beat! He is the best on board with children and we dont even have children!

I'll just point out - when making specific requests (for servers/dining rotation) it's best to have only one request. Unfortunately, DCL is notorious for, if you make more than one request, not granting either since they say they don't know which to grant if they are not compatible. Even if you put a preference order.

For example, if you request XX for main server and YY for asst server, they may not be a team any longer (promotions, just splitting the team, whatever), or one has gone on vacation, or is no longer with DCL, they historically won't give you either. Or if a specific server you want isn't a rotation that you also request, they won't grant either request.

I think most f not all servers do a wonderful job. I don't thin they would last log if they were not great. In our experience they have all been great.

I agree. We've never requested a server, and in 11 cruises (20+ servers) the only one that there were any issues with was one assistant server, and it really wasn't that big of a deal. It was only her 2d cruise as a full assistant server, and she had a little trouble getting all the drinks sorted out at the start of the cruise. She was much better by the end.
