favorite little 'extra' something to do for kids...

My fav thing that I did was I just did a quick stop into Mouse Gear while the other 11 were on Spaceship earth. So at the end of the trip I gave them the little stuffed animals like a Donald Duck for Cole our two year old goofball. And Minnie mouse for 3 year old Erin. A Mission Space Pluto for our fearless 5 year old Casey. A little Animal kingdom Mickey for our little Mr.Factual (You gotta love him!)Chase our Dino animal Kingdom Lover at 4 years old. And for Baby Calvin (10 mos.) we got him a baby mickey mouse The look on their faces were priceless!!!

:wizard: Have a Magical Day! :wizard:

We'll be down the week my youngest turns 4. We've already got a special breakfast that she knows about. I've got a local scrapbooker putting together a journal/photo/autograph album for them custom with their names. Each page will have a spot for a picture to go with the autograph that was taken.

These will be brought out once we get to the park. I'm going to look around for a special pen for each as well.

Have someone travelling before you (query the resorts board) send your children a post card from Mickey saying how excited he is to know they're coming.

I read that someone had sent a postcard, already written out, addressed and with postage, in an envelope to their resort with a note asking them to just stick it in the mail. That way it had the postmark from down there.

Every trip to Disney requires a special present from "Mary Poppins", my DD's favorite!

When my DD wakes the morning of our trip, she runs to the window to see what Mary Poppins has left for her on our rooftop. "She" leaves things such as Pal Mickey, Disney Park coloring books, Princess P.J's., a new autograph book...etc...It's usually things that we picked up during our last visit.

DH and I always play it up by asking her if she heard Burt and Mary dancing on the roof in the middle of the night.

She really looks forward to this each trip. :earsboy: :earsgirl: princess: :mickeybar

Does someone have the address to order postcards to be sent from the favorite characters?

This is a great thread. Thanks!

I loved the ideas of having little surprise gifts for them "appear." I just went on Disneydirect.com and found three cute Tink items (cami/panty set for sleeping; swimsuit; sunhat) ON SALE that will just make it before we leave, and I'm sure were much less pricey than what I'll find at WDW. Great idea!

I printed the kids journal out for my 9 year old, and also some find a word puzzles. Then I printed out some disney coloring pages for my 2 and 3 year olds. I am preparing each of them a disney travel folder to keep them entertained on the plane and such. I went to the dollar tree and bought some disney stickers i'll add some pencils pens crayons etc.

We'll find out in a week if it helps, I can't wait!!! :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

For our trip this July, I am putting together goodie bags to give both children (12 yr old niece and five year old son) on the drive to WDW. I've been gathering items for them; things like a personal fan, a clear poncho, a disposable camera for our five year old son, some lip balm with sunscreen, some gum, snacks etc. Onthe last trip, I wrapped up gifts to give periodically during the trip, but the wrapping paper made a mess in the van! The goodies were a big hit though!!

A couple of weeks ago we made a stop at the closest Disney Store (1hr&1/2 away but sooooo worth it) Anyway, since we're going in July, we picked up 2 pairs of boxer shorts (buzz and stitch) to leave on our 4yr old DS' pillow.
he likes to think he's s big boy-mom just doesnt like to admit it! ;)

For the past two trips I've packed some "bath dye" tablets and bath confetti. When it was time for DS's bath, we'd run the water, and then DH would distract him for a minute while I dropped the bath dye in the tub, then sprinkled the confetti on the top of the water.

When DS went into the bathroom, he was delighted to find that Tinkerbell had sprinkled pixie dust in his bath water!

I'm planning on doing this again for our upcoming trip, but I'm pretty sure he'll be onto me this time. ;)

Love this thread as well...where do I buy bath dye? I found the confetti, but am yet to find the dye.
thanks..

Go to the top of the Disney for families page and look for "Pay it Forward". I did it and my DDs received postcards from Pooh and the Princesses saying they were looking forward to seeing them! I was so floored by the fact that a total stranger would do such a thing. Then you add your name and do it for someone else when you go!!

As for me, I have been collecting things all along for the past 6 months an dnow have 2 ridiculous amounts of "stuff" for the girls (5 and 2) as we trek from MD to FL. I also joined Disney DVD Club and have 7 new, wrapped DVDs that they have no idea about to play in the car as we drive. Lets see...oh and I bought a Princess Baby doll for each girl (including my DNiece), wrapped them and wrote out cards "from" the princesses welcoming them to WDW. I plan to stick them on their beds the first night and have them find them in the morning.

Everyone thinks I am more excited than the kids but you know what? I think they are RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! lol Thefact of the matter is, the KIDS have NO idea what they are getting in to! I DO!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday at Target I saw some "Bath bomb" fizzie balls. They had one per box and your choice of Nemo, Pooh or Disney Princess. After it disolved it had a little figurine in it. They were in the aisle where the playdoh and other art stuff was (in the Toy section). They were $2.99 each. SInce 4 kids are going this trip I decided to skip them. But for 1 or 2 kids it would be fun to sneak it in the tub as a little surprise~

I don't know about an address but I did this myself and mailed them to my dd's. I downloaded some pictures - printed them on the postcards and "copied" the character signature.

Since they don't yet understand postmarks that wasn't an issue!

i bought one little tchotchke for each night (a compass, a lightstick, a ball, etc.) "from tinkerbell". I bought everything at target in the $1 section

You can wake up Tinkerbell at MK castle if you're early enough. Only one person per day can wake Tink and you get a certificate. Also Barber Shop on Main Street is reasonably priced and can get colored mousse, etc. in hair as well as mousse that only shows color under certain lights. :cheer2:

Over the past two years I have also sent my own postcards to my 2 granddaughters (now 6 and 4) from the princesses and Mickey. They are also too young to recognize postmarks or my handwriting, but that will change soon. If I run out of postcards I usually know a friend that is making a trip to Orlando and they purchase some for me.

I saw those light necklaces at Target on the weekend and I'm going back tonight to see if they have some left -- that is a great idea to keep them for a DW trip. Also the bath confetti and dye. Keep those ideas coming!
