I voted for the one-and-only longhouse I stayed in: Aotearoa. We were on the monorail side and it was great watching the monorails zip by our room. I also requested Figi and Tokelau when I made my reservation.

Here are some pictures:

Robin, The one thing I thought I knew was that I did NOT want a monorail view. Your pictures were so awesome (probably the best I've seen of Poly) that now I'm not even sure of that! I guess the moral of the story might be that, "you'll be happy with any longhouse..so quit trying to micromanage!" But I'm hoping to get more responses... because micromanaging gets me from one WDW trip to the next.

 Aloha! PaulaJ...I know what you mean...I need help waiting until my next Poly visit, too! And it's only 7 days away!!!!

Now...how will I deal with my next episode of POST-POLY-DEPRESSION???;)

I've stayed in two longhouses...garden view..and I enjoyed both of them. I truly don't think you can go wrong with a location at the Poly. It's a beautiful resort. I voted Tokelau for its central location, although the best for me would be Samoa because I love the volcano pool!

Hi Robinb,

We are thinking about choosing Aotearoa. I am concerned that the noise from the luau is going to be loud. We go to bed fairly early so we can get up early. Let me know.

I have to say that our first room at the Poly in Tokelau was nicer than our second room in Rarotonga.

The Tokelau room seemed bigger, newer, and the bathroom was bigger, two sinks as opposed to the one in Rarotonga.

It also had a balcony with a quiet pool view--and it was still considered garden view.

We were on the non-Luau side, so we didn't hear the Luau at all. But even if you're on the other side, I don't think you would hear much of it unless you had your door open. The Figi Longhouse is much closer to the Luau than Aotearoa.

Does Tokelau have nice views? I know it's possible to get a garden view that's a waterview, but what are the other views like? Does it have good access to the beach?

LOL! Thanks for the compliments :). If you want to see some really nice pictures, go to Tikiman's Polynesian Site . He has a lot of really great information and I used his site extensively when I was planning.

I narrowed my choices to 3 longhouses, requested a patio or balcony and then let the Room Gods do thier thing. Honestly, Aotearoa was my last choice but I really did enjoy the monorail. We were on the first floor and we would sit on our patio and wave to all the people going by on the monorail. When we were inside, the privacy sheer kept out prying eyes but let in the sun. Most of the time we didn't care and kept the drapes and sheers open so we could watch the monorails all the time, calling out their colors :).
