favorite doughnut??

My favs are hard to find in my current spot but they are French Cruller, blueberry cake, and chocolate cake (in that order).

Old Fashioned

Way back when my best friend owned a donut shop. Hands down, THE best I’ve ever had. He’d get off work and drop off fresh, warm donuts on my doorstep any time I asked. Came in handy when DD needed cupcakes for school. I rarely eat them anymore, nothing compares.

My standard/favorite is vanilla cake with vanilla frosting & sprinkles. When we get to go to Voodoo Donuts, I love the Marshall Mathers. Even better is when we get to go to Legendary Doughnuts (Seattle area) - their lemon coconut old fashioned is amazing (as are all their donuts).

Lemon filled. My local grocery store makes really good ones but I recently discovered the ones at The Donut Man in Glendora, CA and they are hands down the best.

What is your favorite type of doughnut?

I will take a good jelly doughnut any day! The kind that is sugared on the outside is best, but glazed or powdered sugar will work as a backup.

French Cruellers, glazed.
2nd place: Hostess Raspberry Jelly filled, the ones withpowdered sugar. IDK if they make them anymore (I haven't been able to find them in decades) but oh, that is the only raspberry anything that I like.

Beiler's (local to me) - Hard to choose from.
Krispy Kreme (local to me) - Original Glaze or Chocolate Ice Custard filling
Dunkin Donuts - Boston Cream

I do not seek out donuts, but when the opportunity arises I will get just regular glazed. Yes, I am that dull.

I also love just a regular Krispy Kreme glazed.

I just don't get Krispy Kreme, expensive and not all the good, even fresh out of the fryer. They about got run out of this area by the better/cheaper mom and pop donut shops about 10 yers , but they have started coming back. Still not as many as they used to have.

I also think, TV guy, that you have to have been raised on them. I grew up in South Carolina where we had a Krispy Kreme shop in the late 60s that’s still going strong.
On the other hand our Krispy Kreme shop in south jersey closed after barely a year around 10 years ago.
For me Krispy Kreme is a part of my childhood. But don’t get me wrong, I think they’re vastly better than Dunkin but not as good as local bakeries’ donuts.

I think they first came here about 20 years ago, so I get it, not a tradition here. We had Winchells, but basically with soooo many independent, wonderful donut shops here, I avoid the chains. Not that I NEED any donuts. When Krispy Kreme first came here, they used to drop off dozens of donuts at the TV and Radio stations, so I have to admit I have never paid for a Krispy Kreme donut

We have a local donut place that has the best donuts I can remember...there I enjoy cronut, strawberries & cream (almost like a strawberry shortcake but on a yeast glazed donut), and maple bacon bar

Before donuts got so fancy, I would say, boston cream, maple frosted, apple fritter, or chocolate creme would be what I would order

I agree, I am a fatty and I am not really tempted by Krispy Kreme unless they are hot.

Chocolate with chocolate frosting. I love, love, love donuts! Bakery ones are best. Krispy cream are crap, Tim Hortons are crap and Dunkin Donuts are crap as well. They make a better donut at Kroger than those 3 places lol!
Love boston cream, lemon, apple fritters, plain, powdered - love them all!!!

Love cream filled, regardless of the bakery.

And there is something about a glazed KK when you're at a store and they're coming right off the conveyor belt. They really do melt in your mouth.
