What are your favorite door decorations? We have an ocean view room on the Wonder and from what I understand, it's a metal door. I've been thinking about some ideas we could do as a family. I've also been saving some fun ideas on Pinterest. But since this is our first Disney Cruise, I'm curious what you've seen or done. Any cute or funny ideas you'd be willing to share?

Have you looked at the custom DISigns that are made on this site? People do the work for free then you can print them to make magnets for your door. Super cute and very personal.

I've not! I'll go check them out. Thanks for the suggestion!

image.jpeg image.jpeg This was our doors on our last cruise I made the Mickey/Minnies with our names on them, the ears around the numbers I found online and printed them out. The square one my mom bought us on etsy. My favorite ones I've seen on other doors were like a whole character and they used the number as their face, I'll see if I can find a picture. Another thing I liked was one cruise someone printed a picture on a sheet and laminated it and then put instructions on it so it would get passed around the ship and come back to their room on the last night. So when someone put it on your door you were suppose to put name, room # and where you were from and then put it on another random door. I think that would be a neat memento from a cruise and to see how many rooms it would get passed to.

You will see all sorts of decorations on stateroom doors, from nothing at all to so many that you can hardly see the metal anymore!

Some of the most popular ones are a pair of Mickey (or other character) ears (and sometime other accessories too) that go around the circular stateroom number near the top of the door. I think these are really cute, and you can even buy sets of these on the ship now. Some people also make personalized magnets, often including family names, their itinerary, the ship name/logo, etc. The sky is the limit!

My upcoming Alaska cruise is our 4th cruise with DCL, but this will be the first time I will decorate my door. My parents are coming with this time, and I want it to be extra special. So far I've designed a few things. One is a rectangular cruise magnet, a bit smaller than an 8x11" piece of paper, that has our family names, the year, and the ports of call on a background photo of the ship in Alaska. The others are a Mickey Head for each person with the DCL logo, their name, and their favorite character on it. I also plan on deciding on some Mickey ears and or other character magnets just for fun.

I'm having a lot of fun doing the designs myself, but there are multiple people on this board that will personalize items for you as well.

Hope this helps!

Aby

We had one on our door and did not see another one on the ship. I DIYed mine, but it looked the same.

We also had ones specific to our cruise that were on the cruise meet up board as well as some custom ones from LadyB on DIS.

Where do I find those custom DISigns? I am trying to learn...

Barb and Lady B both have threads in this forum with links to their work.

There is also a creative DISigns forum on the main page.

Each person has their own guidelines for how to make a request, so just make sure to read their first posts and you'll be good.

We went on our first Disney cruise in January. To let the kids help out (6 and 4), we made characters out of perler beads and then i put magnets on the back. The kids loved them and they were something different that we didnt see anyone else with.

Here was our door I did last week. We saw some pretty cool ones. This was our first time so wasn't really sure what I wanted to do.IMG_7511.JPG

This was our door for our first ever cruise. I think we may add to this next time with personalized Mickey ears or something along those lines. We saw lots of decorated doors and got some good ideas. I ordered this off of Pinterest, but truthfully, it couldn't be that hard to make. Laminated cut outs with magnets affixed to the back.

This is my plan. My kids (3 & 8 now) I think would like to pick out their favourite characters and make them.

We really enjoyed our door decorations! We had 2 rooms so we even strung battery powered lights between the 2 rooms.
