Favorite Crew Member?

Alain was our head server(guy in the white jacket), but Alain is a very common name.....I'm sure there could be 2 Alains from France...it was great, because I could talk to him in french about things I didn't want the rest of my fam to understand! What did "your" Alain look like?
PS - I can't believe no one else has mentioned Iso & Rudy....or maybe they were all noDISer's who had them!

Alain had blond to slighly reddish blond hair. Maybe mid 30's but I am so bad at descriptions and ages.

I don't want to get too repetitive- I definitly fell in love with all the cruise staff that have been mentioned, but I felt the need to post here because not many have posted DJ LA. I know its easy to forget him since hes often hidden away in the DJ booth, but I got to chat with him here and there and I thought he was so great! He even thanked our family at the end of the week for participating in the activities, citing that we make his job a lot more fun! I also thought his explanations for the word 'fard' in the 'Captain's Tale' game were a riot! He pointed us out and said "those girls fard all the time" we were rolling on the floor laughing! (For those who are curious I think to fard meant to put on make-up)

And I've mentioned before how much we adored our Canadian server, Beckie! We took more pictures with her by the end of the cruise than with the characters! We even lead the dining room in a special Happy Birthday song to her at the end of the week!

PrincessGoofy81......You are right....we do always forget to mention the great DJLA!!! He really has the most busy job of the cruise staff. As he puts it...he works 27 hours a day and then some!!!!

Check out the 1/4 trip report....I will add our pics over the weekend!!!!

Glad you were able to come with us and experience the Magic of a Disney Cruise first hand with us!!!!

When can we all go again....let's see....last week at this time we were on Castaway Cay enjoying the sun and wind!!!!!

Much better than these -degree temps in NY this week!!!

Hey PrincessGoofy....what is the captain's table game?

princessgoofy is talking about the game show Sailor's Tales in Studio Sea....three panelist give different definitions for wacky words and you have to guess which one is telling the truth!!! One of the words was Fard....and you can just imagine the jokes were making with that one!

MJ

Thanks for sharing, I don't remember that one but it sounds like fun!!!

Our servers on 1/11/03 Magic were Nicu from Romania and Paula, and they were amazing. Nicu is an amateur magician, and he absolutely mesmorized the kids (and adults) with his simple slight of hand and calm manners! If you are lucky enough to get Nicu and Paula as your servers, no worries. There were lots of hugs at the end of our travels last weekend.

Just returned from the Jan 11th Magic sailing. We really had a great time with our dining room staff, Stipe and Agus. As far as entertainment we just loved the Dueling Piano venue, Fidelo & Jeff. I have heard alot of positive comments on Robin (Bingo Guy), well....lets just say he wasn't my cup of tea sorry to say. So I didn't do the Bingo thing this cruise. Candance who is new to the crew and does the onboard cruise booking was a sweetheart. As a Castaway Club member I had not received my gift in our cabin. After talking with her within 2 hrs the gift was in our cabin with apologizes. It was a wonderful Beach Towel and pins. Darren who was part of the entertainment officers was wonderful too. So much fun to talk with.

Have a Disney Day!

Fidelio is back! Ohhhhh, my DS will be thrilled to pieces~! We saw him and Tamara on the 9/28 Magic but heard he was gone for a time.
When we saw Dueling Pianos on the Wonder, my son was very disappointed because he had such fun with Fidelio.

I can't wait to tell him this - thanks for the info and the GREAT news!

Rae

dianedisney...glad you had such a good, as we did on the 1/4 Magic.

Just curious....what did you not like about Robin, as we found him charming and funny!!! Yes his jokes are corny....but that just added to his charm!!! We also loved the banter between him and April from the cruise staff. I guess to each his own.

Thanks.

MJ

Wish I could tell you exactly what I didn't like about Robin, he had a great sense of humor and full of energy but.....for some reason he just gets on my nerves. I guess some personalities just don't click. No ones fault, just happens. But I know alot of people on the cruise really liked him and thats great. I think I just like people a little more laid back and not so hyper.

Have a Disney Day!!

I have to agree that Dueling Pianos is great! When we were on board in December, it happened to be Greg's last week on board. He had his toddler son on board and his kid is a riot. He's 2 and if you ask him who are John, Paul , George and Ringo are he replies, "The Beatles!" Greg and Jeff were terrific together. I've never heard Ozzy's Crazy Train before on piano, but let me tell you, it was memorable. If Fidelio is half the pianist Jeff is then I'm certain he's great too.
We heard a rumor that Dueling Pianos may be eliminated during the refurbishing this year. I hope not. We need to let DCL know how much people enjoy it. We found it a wonderful change of pace from the extremely loud music coming from Rockin Bar D, not to mention, less smoke. That's important to me as an asthmatic.

I hope we can keep it open!

It was 3-0 in favor of Dueling Pianos (Fidelio and Tamara - Magic - 9/28/02) being the absolute best entertainment on the ship in our group - Mom (73), me (47) and DS (7). Now where can you get three age groups that diversified to agree on entertainment?

ONLY ON DISNEY!

Rock on Fidelio!

Rae

We also thought Fidelio and Jeff were terrific, I was pleasantly surprised how they effortlessly integrated their act with the children in the audience! We sang and laughed too hard (the drinks helped), and I hope that they stay on board for a long long time.
The Bingo guy was witty but it can get old in a hurry. His assistant April was really ripping him for being a 30-year old bingo number caller, and I thought that he took the humility well.

Hey guys, I know this is a stupid question but....what is Dueling Pianos? I never went to that the whole cruise and I have heard alot of positive things about it.

Thx all for the great updates on the CMs.

It is held in the Off Beat Lounge and on the stage are two pianos and two players. They "play" off each other and get the audience involved as well. They ad lib alot and add their own versus or words.

Many people love the act...but I am not that fond of it. Maybe I caught it on a bad night.

MJ

We have only gone to the Family Show that they do. The kids get up and one of the pianists leads them in some very active and silly songs (like the Unicorn Song, the Tree Song). Every night was different and the word must have spread because it got more and more crowded.

I haven't been their adult show but heard it was also very good.

Rae

The adult show was enjoyable but it really depends on the temperament of the group your with. They CM's are very good at reading the audience and I've seen them change from kind of racy with some swearing (it is still Disney for heavens sake) back to a regular early evening show when things weren't going over well. There's nothing too shocking about it but it is kind of suggestive. All in good fun. It really seemed mild compare to the adult scavenger hunt that takes place in the same room. We didn't catch the program but did see that they ended up closing the doors and when it was all finished men came out wearing their wive's bras. Uh-huh.
