Favorite cocktails?

Big +1 to the Fun Wheel, though I do miss the old (stronger!) version at Cove Bar. Ingredients: gin, vodka, rum, pineapple juice, X-Rated Passion Fruit Vodka, and blue curaçao. I feel bad ordering it these days since they clearly put a lot of care into the new Lamplight menu so often I'll just get the Open Ocean With A Splash which is fun because it's a frozen cocktail.

Other +1's to the Honey Buzz at Pyms and the Blood Orange margarita at Hearthstone. Haven't seen mentioned so far, my other two favorites: Cinnamon Toast Crunch cocktail at Lamplight Brunch, and the new Hurricane at Blue Bayou! I like sweet drinks, in case that wasn't obvious haha.

I did not know you could get Trader Sam's to go! I wonder what the wait is like for that these days? The walk up list situation looked nuts but if you aren't wanting a table maybe it is more possible to get a drink without a huge wait?

It's interesting reading this thread,, that no one has listed anything from Oga's. I guess the atmosphere is the bigger draw there than the drinks.
I have tried so hard to find a drink I love at Ogas and I just haven't. Jedi mind trick was probably the best of the bunch but Hearthstone has probably 10 drinks I'd rather have than anything at Ogas.

Carthay Circle “Vodka martini with olives”. Not a fan of sugary sweet drinks. Love the ice sphere that they use here. The Hearthstone at GCH makes a pretty good one too but not as good as CC. 🙂

This is definitely one of my faves as well! I also had an awesome cocktail at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, but I don't remember what it was. They seemed to have a good choice of cocktails, though, and I believe what I had was a special of the day. Maybe it was the Cat-5 hurricane?

I really love a good Bloody Mary. Anyone know who makes a good one at DLR? JK has a Cajun one but I've not tried it.

Oooh… if you like beer *and*bloody Mary’s maybe try a very baja drink and try a Michelada. There are a couple places in DCA that serve them - Cocina Cucamonga for one (also have an alch Horchata I want to try.) But if you go to Cocina Cucamonga you must promise to try the BeefBirria tacos with your libation. I dream of these beauties… and their consommé. Mostly the consommé. 😆

Oh man, I will definitely try these!! Thanks for the heads up. In all my many visits to DLR, I've only gone to Cocina Cucamonga once and I got a kid meal :D

I am intrigued. I checked out the menu and everything looks delish. Question though, is one order 1 taco or 2? Just so I know how much to order with my michelada :drinking1

2 tacos, no sides other than the elixir-of-life consommé. There has been some discussion on the boards as to whether you can order extra consommé to dip some lovely (local) sourdough in…. Not that I’m above just slurping that salty cup of goodness. ;)

Have you tried the birria toasted cheese sandwich at Jolly Bakery?
