what is/are your favorite christmas songs?

traditional, non-traditional, whatever, i need titles and artists people :rotfl:

:santa: :santa: :santa:

(i also realize there are probably like half a dozen old threads that contain this info, but as you can see this thread specifically states that this is the 2008 edition;) :p)

I love anything by Trans- Siberian Orchestra.

i'll be home for christmas (i think of all the service men and women around the world when i hear it).

As I have gotten older I have learned to really appricate the religous songs much more so than when I was younger.

my favorite is O Holy Night, but it needs to be someone with a big voice, such as Reba McEntire In fact, I just looked, I have 11 different versions of the song :)

My husband and I both really like Christmas music. We have a pretty tall stack of Christmas CDs. Bing Crosby and Dean Martin is a must have CD for us, because both our parents had it when we were growing up. That and Glenn Miller's Christmas concert. I also love Mannheim Steamroller Christmas. I have an Irish Christmas CD that I love...traditional Christmas hymns played on bagpipes and flute. I think it's just called "An Irish Christmas." Another favorite of mine is a set with 1940s artists doing Christmas songs. I think you can probably see a pattern here with most of these. :rotfl:

Breath of Heaven - Amy Grant, hands down. She tells the story of Mary's perception of her pregnancy and Jesus's birth. It is wonderful!

I must say I love Alabamas Christmas...
and kids singing Christmas is always cute...

Classics like Rudolph and Frosty are great...

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree is always my fave...so upbeat!!

The Christmas Song- Nat King Cole.

Just sound of his voice makes me feel all warm and cozy. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes I love Christmas songs, but this is the one that really makes me feel like Christmas. It makes me want to drink hot cocoa in front of a fire, and I don't even have a fireplace.

For a more upbeat song I like Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives. It's toe tappin' and I aways love to shout the last words of the song "Oh by golly, have a holly jolly Christmas this year!!!"

I love "River" and "Song For a Winter's Night" by Sarah Mclachlan.

I also love Kendal Payne's version of "O Come O Come Emmanuel", and actually most of the songs on the CD "Christmas Songs" (various artists). :goodvibes

Is River a Joni Mitchell remake??

I love White Christmas, I think that is my all time fav! Let it snow, All I want for Christmas is you.

One that I listen to OVER AND OVER is Christmas Wrapping by Waitresses:rotfl: I don't know why but I just love it. I'm so excited for Christmas music, countdown till Nov 1!!

My favorite traditional song is Carol of the Bells, and my favorite newer one is As Long As There's Christmas.

ETA - Also there are a lot of songs a like depending on who's singing it, but when other people sing the exact same song, I can't stand it!

My faves are "O Holy Night" -- the version by Josh Groban, "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by Andy Williams, "That's What I Want For Christmas" and "Jingle Bells" by SHeDAISY, and everything that's Christmas-y by The Ray Conniff Singers. It's just ain't Christmas without Conniff! :thumbsup2

Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth by Bing Crosby and David Bowie. That is the all time favorite! :santa:

My favorite Christmas music is George Winston's "Winter", and Vince Guaraldi's "Charlie Brown Christmas". I guess my favorite "song" would be "The Christmas Song", sung ONLY by Nat King Cole.

One of my favorites, too! :thumbsup2

Also, Judy Garland's version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", it has such a bittersweet feel to it. I always think of my mom when I hear it, and think of the last Christmas we got to spend with her before she passed away.

Also love "The Christmas Shoe" even though it's so very sappy. Even at work if it's played, I start crying. :sad1:

My DD 6 favorite is Hark the Herald Angels Sing ever since she was little and saw Charlie Brown's Christmas. We used to have to sing it at bedtime all year long! :goodvibes

I love, love, love:love: christmas music. A local radio station starts playing it here Thanksgiving day and doesn't stop till Dec.26. I never change the channel. Religious, non religious I love it all!
My #1: "Mary's Boy Child" ... If you don't know it, check this out (the video is totally cheesy, but the song...:cloud9:) a carribbean, island feel. I'm a (pacific) island girl, but looove this.

#2 Band Aid " Do they know it's Christmas"...reminds me of 8th grade:goodvibes
Love the classics too. I love "Baby it's cold outside", but NOT the Jessica Simpson version!

Baby Its Cold Outside - Margaret Whiting & Johnny Mercer
Baby Its Cold Outside Rod Stewart and Dolly Parton

I love both of those versions. Also anything by Harry Connick Jr.
