Yes! I just bought that book a couple of weeks ago and read it in one night! It cracked me up! Good advice too! :)

I forgot to add that my niece's name is Marissa Rose. I think it's such a beautiful name.

I love the name Caleb for a boy! I would have used that but I am having a girl.

DD's are named Emily Nicole and Hannah Marie

If either was a boy, he would have been Nicholas Jon - but I don't really like that name anymore.

Other names we liked were Alicia, Hayley, Mallory, Samantha, and Danielle for girls; and Matthew for bous (we had a really hard time with boys' names)

Congrats and good luck!

That was the first book I bought when I found out I was pregnant. One of DH's coworker's said that "Belly Laughs" by Jenny McCartney is good too. :)

And don't forget "What to Expect When You're Expecting". My MIL bought me that and the pregnancy diary that goes along with it. That really helped me keep tabs on my weight, blood pressure and other important info throughout my pregnancy. :)

Hoping magical names make for magical children.

PS - im 20, and single with no kids. So those are future names!

A couple suggestions--the Social Security Administration keeps lists of most popular names. Parents.com had a link to it--fun to look at for ideas. Plus, a name you absolutely love may wind up being one you hear way too often--DD was almost an Emily, and I'm SOOO glad we didn't go that way!

I would strongly caution you against unisex names and funky spellings. This may seem cute and unique to the parents. But believe me, the kids get so tired of having to spell and/or pronounce their names to everyone! You also have to watch out for nicknames that are unflattering--for example, I love the name Daria, but DH thought it sounded too close to diarrhea. I had to give him that one!

That said, I have Jocelyn Noelle, Robert Dayton (Dayton being a family name--Robert is after his dad, we thought we'd actually call him Dayton, but Robert is just Robert), and Celeste Gabrielle. A fourth would likely be Naomi or Luke, but Luke is really moving up in popularity, so possibly not. I also like Larissa and Danielle.

My favorite baby name book is "Beyond Jennifer and Jason, Madison and Montana". Instead of your typical lists in alphabetical order, they divide up into "feminine", "Classic", "overdone" and other type catergories.

Congratulations!

For a girl, I love the name Esme (pronounced Es-may). I also like Mackenzie, Camille, and Isabella (Bella for short)

For a boy, I like Nathan, Alex, and Noah.

I'm sure my future children will have one of these names.

That makes me smile :goodvibes ! I was sure one of my children would be named Danielle, Alexandra or Matthew. They are Hannah and Emily! :flower:

We just found out we are expecting, so I am loving this thread!

My top choices so far (DH doesn't necessarily agree with them though):

Lilly (but I already named the cat this, I like it more and more though)
Avery (we both agree on this, so that will most likely be our girl name)

Brady (I LOVE, DH isn't crazy about)
Adam (We both like, but not LOVE)

I agree with BuzznBelle'smom! I have a different spelling for my name AND I have two middle names - it is a complete pain in the rear!
I even had one lady ask me if I was sure that was how to spell my name! Crazy lady! haha

We have some ideas on names but are still looking....I think naming a child is one of the hardest things to do!

I always have names in waiting in case I have one more!!

If I have another boy he would be named Tyler James. I like the name Elizabeth Patricia for a girl but now that my kids are preschool age and I know what a pain it is for them to learn their name I wouldn't name them something that long.

My two kids are named Annie and Nathan, both of which are names I still love.
