favorite apple?

Empire appples are the house favorite. I like mine ice cold!

Honeycrisp but they are really expensive so I don't get them too often. Otherwise anything crunchy.

I saw a headline today that Gala apples passed Red Delicious as the USA's favorite apple. What is your favorite type of apple?

I like Gala, Pink Lady, Honeycrisp, and Fuji the best probably. I never get Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, or Granny Smith.

Sometimes in the fall I like to get several different kinds, slice them all up at once, and compare the flavors. Kind of like a wine tasting, but for apples.

We went apple picking one year, 20 miles away, took almost 2 hours to get there with one lane road traffic. The next year, I took the kids to our very well stocked grocery store, took pictures, and had a taste test at home. I’m a Granny Smith fan, we also get gala and honey crisp.

Love Red Delicious or Gala mostly for eating outright, but really not too picky except don't like Golden Delicious or tart apples. I do not eat 'any' mealy apple no matter the variety - must be crisp and juicy. For cooking, prefer Granny Smith.

Granny Smiths are my fav all-purpose apple. Cooks nicely and can be eaten out of hand.

Yesterday we made paninis on sourdough bread with turkey breast, Granny Smith sliced apple, Brie and honey mustard. They were so good!

My kids and I have talked about buying lots of different kinds of apples and having a blind taste test. Maybe we'll do that this year. Our tradition every fall is to make applesauce. I make big batches with my family's help and freeze it. It's gotten a lot easier now that I have one of those apple peeler and corer contraptions and a food processor. My kids are in charge of the peeler and corer machine.

Granny Smith is my favorite. I like tart apples.
DH likes Fuji and Braeburn (I like those too if eating a red).
DD is in the honey crisp fan club (a lot cheaper this year than past)
Not fan of the delicious. That was the main ones when I was a child and I remember them tasting better

I have no taste for fresh fruit. If you want to cook it or include it into pies, cakes, ice cream, muffins, jellies, jams, then we can talk. Just like I'd rather not eat the raw ingredients of soup.

Aren't those apple peeler/corer 'thingys' great??? I love mine and make apple butter in the winter. My dh even gets into the project when he can use the 'machine' to peel!! I use the crockpot, and oh, do those spices smell good when it's cold out!!

I like jazz, gala, fuji, pink lady, hone criso. Basically any that are crisp, juice and sweet.

I despise a mealy apple which is very common with red delicious IMO.

I have a tough time finding apples I'll buy because most are just way too big. I want snack size ones not ones big enough for a meal in itself.

Wegmans and Trader Joe's have kids lunch box jazz apples that I usually buy. They're nice and small.
