Favorite and Not Favorite Favors

I think we're going to have the Disney caricature artists at our reception and use that as our favor. I wanted to do a candy bar too because I think it's great decor as well as being a nice favor, but I'm pretty sure that will be the first thing crossed off our budget!

Ditto to the edible treat! Nobody needs another tchotchke laying around the house.

We are from PA and love Hershey's, so we are probably going to do an assortment of Hershey bars with these covers:

We just had a wedding and the only favor we had were the caricature artist prints. The process of watching them was very entertaining. I couldn't believe how often guests commented on what a great idea. I don't expect everyone to keep their prints forever but I feel it was money well spent.

I was to a wedding a couple of weeks ago where they had hard candy sticks which were individually wrapped. They had a bow tied to the top with a little card that said "So Sweet of You to Come" and signed by the bride and groom.
For each table, these were arranged in a vase which also doubled as the table centerpiece - (the candy sticks were striped and was also their wedding colours). At the end of the reception, each guest took one.

I thought it was a great idea and too bad I hadn't seen the idea 25 years ago (yes - we DID have candy back then:lmao:)

This is one of my hardest things! My wedding planner suggeted umbrellas... cute idea but impersonable. We are having immediate family so i wanted something more intimate. I was thinking about the mickey ear ornaments, or some sort of disney figurine?... Any thoughts?

We are doing custom lanyards with Disney trading pins. We have fifty guests and were able to buy five pins per person off of ebay and lanyards from a fellow Disney lover for about $400.00. I havent showed them to my guests but my wedding party and family love them!

I figured its a great way to leave a little Disney magic with a touch of personalization from our wedding. Our Lanyards have our wedding date and they lived happily ever after on them!

Tell us how that goes over with your guests afterwards.

lots of interesting ideas... keep them coming though. Still would like to know thoughts on what you had seen at other weddings and what you havent liked. I know everyones opinion differs though.

To answer your question...I haven't been to very many weddings. I have had seeds that I didn't plant but thought it was a cute idea, coaster that were lovely but didn't fit our decor, jordan almonds which I do love to eat, and probably other types of candy. I think the Mickey head treats make a great favor with a Disney touch.

I actually don't think the umbrellas are a terrible idea especially if you could find a fun print and cute saying. I love to have an umbrella that matches my clothing but that isn't my reality. I recently received an end of the year present containing an umbrella. I thought "oh". When it was pouring the other day and I couldn't find my other umbrellas lucky the new one was handy. Umbrellas are something I can never have enough of (one in each car, one lost in each car, one at work, one by the door etc). Coasters...we actually don't even use.

bumping up.... more info can sometimes be good :goodvibes

Favorite: anything edible, especially premium goodies (quality candy, decorated cookies); potted herb plant; packet of seeds

Least favorite: a tiny (1 1/2") fake potted plant with the bride and groom's names on it. I appreciated the gesture, but it went straight in the trash when I got home. The last thing I need is more tchochkes and knickknacks ("decorative" items that are never my taste, little photo frames, etc.)

Favors are a very regional thing. When I got married in San Diego, I gave everyone little boxes of See's Candy and many people said they had never been given a favor at a wedding before!

Once the bride and groom get back, maybe I'll be able to get a digital photo or two to post...they're away until mid-August I think but promise I'll remember to ask (my batteries in my camera quit during the ceremony...so that's why I don't have a photo....)

We are doing mini liquor bottles in tulle bags... my friends like to drink ;)

Also, personalized lollipops matching the wedding colors... Nothing major, but simple enough that I think it'll be used :)

I've only been to a couple weddings... can't think of anything I didn't like, but I have been to one that didn't have anything....

I think an excellent favor is the little "Wedding Day" candles from Yankee Candle....only $1.99 each!
