In OCtober I will be visiting with my parents (70/68 yrs old) and I do really think they will love spending a bit of time around the resorts for strolls etc even though we are off site.

What are peoples fave walks around the resorts, eg I enjoy the Boardwalk and hope to stroll over to Beaches and Cream in the Yacht club from there (sure i read that is easy done?) over an afternoon and return to the boardwalk in the evening.

I would definitely agree with the walk around the boardwalk, it brings back memories of early (very early) morning walks with my son in his pram for croissants from the bakery. :woohoo:

The only sounds seemed to be from my son = and the keen joggers trying to avoid being run over by a highly caffeinated and sleep deprived parent :rotfl2: In fact, I enjoyed it that much that we are returning with our 10months old daughter to do the same thing!

My next favourite would be a slow walk round the world showcase on a warm evening - usually followed by a beer from the rose and crown!

Walking from the GF to the Poly is really nice, have a Dole Whip and then catch the monorail back to the GF.

There is a lovely, if quite long, walk between Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge - loads of wildlife and flowers/plants etc. to be seen.

Get the boat from Downtown Disney Marketplace to POFQ for a stroll around that resort before walking on to POR where you can get the boat back. Lovely views over the Sassagoula River from both resorts.

There's always the walk through Downtown, and then round saratoga via the lake - its only around 20 mins so not too bad, even in the heat.

You can also walk along the canal from Saratoga to OKW which is also very relaxing

Hey fella,

The walk around the Boardwalk, with the Beach Club, Dolphin & Swan is great and perfect for photos.
I actually prefer the walk around the Polynesian and Grand Floridian though, based upon the fact we hope to stay at the GF next year we got off the monorail after visiting Magic Kingdom in April.
Had a look around the Poly before heading off to the pool area and walking over to the GF from there, the views are stunning, beaches, all the resorts and the castle in the distance.
I would highly recommend it and hopefully next summer we can do that walk again.
To be honest after many trips to Florida we couldn't believe or fathom why we hadn't had a look around here before. :) Too many villa holidays I guess.

Having 2 deluxe hotels close to each other is an ideal location for a stay, especially with Bay Lake opening soon too.

Bay Lake Tower opened yesterday, but that's one resort where you won't be able to take a recce. The only way of gaining access to any part of it (including the lobby and the pool) is with a room key.

This may sound really stupid but can you drive into these resorts without staying there to have a walk around? Can you get the boat from DTD? I would love to have a look round but have always been under the impression that you have to be staying there.

I think you can use the transport with valid tickets if you are not staying onsite

Hey Mr Sharp.

Great stuff there especially the mouse steps site.
Thanks all

ah ok didn't realise that, though it could be a possibility for our first few nights to stay at BLT though the Grand Floridian is looking a better bet through Julie's AAA card thingy, and having had a good look around we really want to stay at the GF.

To be honest when we went passed Bay Lake Towers in April on the monorail I didn't like the look if it but the more we looked into everything about it, location especially it seemed for us to be ideal next to our favourite park and 2 deluxe resorts closeby.
Just having seen some photos of the pool on the resorts board, I am kind of thinking it looks a bit 'cold' can't think of another way to put it really.

You can yes, but you can only park there for 3 hours. In addition and it can depend on the security guard at the gate but you may need to present ID, passport and driving license for example.

Does the walk from the Polynesian to the Grand Floridian go on the beach (i.e. in the sand), or is there a 'proper' marked walkway ?

There is a proper walkway Hilary that leads eventually to the main pool area and the reception entrance. With the monorail on your left.

It starts close to the volcano pool at the Polynesian.

Thanks :thumbsup2 I'm making a note of it on our 'to do' list :)

me too! we stayed at POFQ and loved the peaceful walk between POR and POFQ and the boat ride. There are so few crowds it's almost like you have the place to yourselves.(rare in disney) And seeing the villas and shades of green etc from the boats is lovely :cloud9:

you should be allowed entry to any resort if you ask at security gate, just tell them you want to look around/use the shops/or eat there.they will gladly let you in.Am surprised there not letting people into Bay lake towers Deb as i am planning to have a look ourselves in a couple of weeks. Will let you know how we go on

I stand corrected you do have to have a key to gain entry to to BLT but think they will have preview rooms in the lobby so will look at them when we eat at the wave
