I think the ones with Tennant and Catherine Tate are a lot of fun. You'll have to give them a spin.

I always get nervous when they switch up the characters but I usually wind up loving them. Except for Martha. She was just meh.

Love, love, love Donna. I hate that she changed back to her shallow self at the end.

I watched the Agatha Christie one today and Donna was hilarious.

My favorite current Doctor os Tennant. A good guy who you don't want to see his bad side.

My first Doctor was Baker. I enjoyed him but he wasn't my favorite.

My favorite is Sylvester McCoy. Sure he was often a clown but he was a scary clown. He always seemed to be on the edge to me.

I've met Sylvester. He has a very comedic side to him.

I'm starting to feel old as well. My first was Peter Davison (although I started watching when Tom potrayed the Doctor), then it was David Tennant. Now their in-laws. Both are still my faves.

For DH, it's also Tom Baker. His mom even knitted him a scarf similar to Tom's. He still has it and wears it every winter and DH is 42.

My mom made one for my brother too. I bet he still has it.

They play off of each other soo good. They're a great comedy duo. You can find some You tube clips of them on other things together that are hilarious. Not that I looked Tennant up on You Tube or anything. Ahem. :rotfl2:

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who thinks these last few episodes were lacking something. Although I didn't pay attention to who the writer(s) were, which definately explains a lot now that it's been mentioned.

I'm just wondering how long we will have to wait before the next set of new episodes. I can't stand waiting a year before a new season starts as with some shows (like Falling Skies).

when you watch them, remember they were made in the 60's, and it was BBC television. not much of a "special effects budget";)

Some of the ones I rented, had little extras, like interviews years later of people that made the series, and so forth.

really made it interesting!

Maybe that is why I haven't taken the plunge yet, I can't help but compare it to now.

I also loved Donna, I missed her no nonsense style until Amy Pond, who is now my favorite.

I love all three, but I love David Tennant the most. As for the classic Doctors, I love Patrick Troughton the most. :)

Honestly, the classics didn't have great special effects, but darn it did they have a great storyline... for the most part. They also were creative with their special effects. Yes the Cybermen back then had plastic outfits, but if you used your imagination you could thoroughly enjoy it. :)

As for companions, I prefered Rose when she was with the 9th, I felt she was too clingy with the 10th. As for Martha, she was a smart cookie, but not very uand seful as a companion. Donna on the other hand was funny and could handle herself. I like Amy, but honestly I hate what they do with her character, it's like they didn't know what to do with her.

Really? I've been finding the latest ep's seem to be missing the action it once had. For example, this past weekend's episode. I thought it was very anti-climatic how the Doctor defeated the cubes. A little re-routing with the sonic screwdriver and that was it and it was pretty much over. Matt's first and second seasons seemed to have more action and kept me on the edge of my seat (to the point I was telling DH to hurry up and fast forward through the commercials). So far, these last few haven't done that at all. Which has been very disappointing to me. It seems to have gone a bit flat.

This weekend is the fall season finale and the final ep with Amy and Rory. I'm hoping that it will be filled with more action than what I've seen so far. There is also a new companion coming in, IIRC, with the Christmas ep.

I think the last episode was really more about the Ponds and their relationship with the Doctor than the blue cubes. Amy and Rory are torn between their regular life and their Doctor life. I think they are torn about what direction they want their lives to take. A lead up to this week,s episode I guess.

Eccleston by a hair for me; he was my first and favorite Doctor. I like Tennant almost as much.

I put up with Smith only because I'd rather have DW with a less-than-ideal Doctor than not have it at all. He just seems to lack the "badass" quality that both Nine and Ten had. There have been several different super-climactic episodes where Smith is going on an "I'm the Doctor, fear me" kind of rant (like in The Pandorica Opens), and it's just NOT believable in the same way that it would've been from CE or DT. I mean, really, just from the writing, it should have been epic:

"Now the question of the hour is, "Who's got the Pandorica?" Answer: I do. Next question: Who's coming to take it from me? Come on! Look at me! No plan, no back-up, no weapons! Oh, and something else I don't have: Anything to lose!"

But with his delivery...it just wasn't.

BUT.....

How can you NOT like a doctor who gave us fish fingers and custard?:rotfl2:

They also took about 5 episodes to finish a story arc where now it's done in one hour long ep. IIRC, the episodes back then were only a 1/2 hour long. Not sure on that though. Believe it or not I still have all of Peter Davison's ep's on VHS that I had taped back in 1985 or so. One of these days I'll have to pull out those tapes and watch them.

I was going to say Jon Pertwee but he's not exactly a modern Doctor. LOL

Out of the 3 on your list, I've been enjoying Matt Smith's Doc - much better than David Tennant I think.

I am looking forward to Amy and Rory moving on. I am tired of both of them although I've been enjoying Rory's Dad. He's a hoot.

One thing I did notice about the last episode was that amy was doing a "past narrative" on the whole cube invasion.

I like how they seem to put "clues" in the story arc's. (bad wolf, etc.)

and I also noticed that they mentioned torchwood when the police and UNIT were approaching amy's flat. maybe Captain jack, or another torchwood office will show up?

Gosh I would love it if jack or Martha and Mickey came back! I thought I read that Martha and Mickey were making an appearance but that might've been wishful thinking!

Is it pretty long? My MIL knit one for DH when he was a teenager. He has to loop it around his neck about 4 times. At least it keeps him warm.

My friend has one that is roughly 14 feet long. It's made out of pure wool and is beautifully made. It's very comfy. :)

I never measured his scarf. Looks like it's something I'm gonna have to do. I'm curious to find out how long my MIL made it.
