Tom Baker, it kills me that he's not a "modern" doctor, damn I feel old.
But in the resurrected series, I'm a David Tennant fan. DS16 likes David Tennant and DH says Matt Smith is growing on him.
Me too.

I agree with the rest of your post too.

David Tennant for sure, but Matt Smith is good too. Though, I think I like him more because of the Ponds. I'm rather new to Doctor Who, so I'm thinking this year I'd like to see some of the original series on Netflix.

when you watch them, remember they were made in the 60's, and it was BBC television. not much of a "special effects budget";)

Some of the ones I rented, had little extras, like interviews years later of people that made the series, and so forth.

really made it interesting!

. And when eleven gets angry, I feel like it radiates, and I can really believe it, I never felt that way with Tennant.

I agree. Matt Smith is excellent at speechifying and booming out dialogue. 'Ameilia Pond! Get. Your. Coat."

Love him. ::yes::

The speech from The Eleventh Hour and The Pandorica Opens (I think those are the right eps) give me chills every time I hear them. The emotion in them is amazing.

as "the face of boe"?

or, have his daughter Jenny show up!!!

Funny that David Tennant married Goergia Moffett. And that she is the daughter of Peter Davison, a former Doctor Who. What a weird world.

I will admit to not watching Doctor Who yet, although it's on my list (after finishing Buffy and watching Sherlock). I believe my daughter likes David Tennant the best and my son likes Matt Smith the best, but I can't say for sure.

The only think I know for sure is that whenever I hear someone talk about Doctor Who, I visualize Tom Baker. I don't know why, but that's the Doctor I have seen when switching the channels in the early 80's.

I still think Tennant did anger the best :goodvibes. I loved him at the end of Water From Mars. Very scary Doctor ;).

I'm starting to feel old as well. My first was Peter Davison (although I started watching when Tom potrayed the Doctor), then it was David Tennant. Now their in-laws. Both are still my faves.

For DH, it's also Tom Baker. His mom even knitted him a scarf similar to Tom's. He still has it and wears it every winter and DH is 42.

Yeah, I kind of lean toward Matt Smith, simply because he seems to bring an energy to the part.

then again, the writers are really starting to get some good story arcs going.

Really? I've been finding the latest ep's seem to be missing the action it once had. For example, this past weekend's episode. I thought it was very anti-climatic how the Doctor defeated the cubes. A little re-routing with the sonic screwdriver and that was it and it was pretty much over. Matt's first and second seasons seemed to have more action and kept me on the edge of my seat (to the point I was telling DH to hurry up and fast forward through the commercials). So far, these last few haven't done that at all. Which has been very disappointing to me. It seems to have gone a bit flat.

This weekend is the fall season finale and the final ep with Amy and Rory. I'm hoping that it will be filled with more action than what I've seen so far. There is also a new companion coming in, IIRC, with the Christmas ep.

This is me admitting to being a bad Whovian, but I haven't watched Water From Mars yet. When Rose first left I stopped watching most of it, up until this last series, when I had to play catch up. I think that's the one special that I have in my Netflix queue that I haven't watched yet. I'm obviously going to have to!

I think the ones with Tennant and Catherine Tate are a lot of fun. You'll have to give them a spin.

I always get nervous when they switch up the characters but I usually wind up loving them. Except for Martha. She was just meh.

My favorite current Doctor os Tennant. A good guy who you don't want to see his bad side.

My first Doctor was Baker. I enjoyed him but he wasn't my favorite.

My favorite is Sylvester McCoy. Sure he was often a clown but he was a scary clown. He always seemed to be on the edge to me.

I LOVED Donna, I wasn't aware she was in Water from Mars though. For some reason I thought she wasn't a part of it, but now I will definitely have to go watch it. :hyper:

That's my thought as well. I've been texting with my dd who's in college..she got me hooked on Dr. Who. I've been complaining about Matt Smith lately..I just can't warm up to him. There is just something I can't put my finger on. Dd tells me that it's the writing...Moffat isn't writing anything truly meaty lately!! She could be right.
I do miss Tennant though...he is my favorite. So dark and brooding.

I agree! I was expecting so much more, esp. with the build up. Hopefully this week's will be better, despite being very sad, I'm sure.

I don't think all of these Fall episodes were written by Moffat. I'm sure the last one wasn't written by Moffat. I kind of like to hate him (the whole Rory and Amy thing), but he can write a good story.

You're right...the last episode wasn't written by him...I remember seeing another writers name.

My bad, she's not in that one. Didn't mean to imply that. He's on his own in that one.

Still, I will watch that one tonight! :3dglasses

I do have to agree, The Power of 3 was very anti-climatic. I felt like it should have been a two part episode, so they could flesh it out a bit more. I was also kind of disappointed in the series premier, with the Daleks. I can't even pin point why, because they had some great funny moments, and I love the new actress, as much as I hate to see Amy and Rory go. Something just felt off to em though.
