I'm trying to estimate how much it's going to cost to have faux wood blinds installed. We are building our house now and I need to budget money. We installed blinds ourselves one time and DH refuses to do it again.

That will depend on the company you choose. When we were shopping for blinds, we knew we needed cordless for some rooms (our infant son's bedroom, the living room, the play room- places he might potentially be alone for any length of time). Cordless are extra. For all the other rooms, we wanted the ring pull so there were shorter cords to deal with. The lady that was placing the order for us failed to inform us that the only want to get cordless is real wood. The only way to get the ring pull is with real wood or composite. We thought we were ordering all the same kind of blind... We weren't. We only ordered about half of them the first order (6 windows) and it cost near $1600. When we went back to order another one, we explained what we wanted (faux wood with a ring pull in xxx color) and it didn't exist. Never had. So sure enough we got back home and looked at our blinds a little closer and we don't have all the same kind of blinds. For such a huge purchase, we were IRATE that we weren't told there were differences beyond the cord type!

We bought Faux Wood Blinds at Lowes last Dec. for our new home. They installed them for something like $108.00 or $118.00 for the whole house!! It was well worth the money to us! The guy that installed them was good and fast! The blinds we bought were not custom order, they were off the shelf and we are happy with them. They did have to cut them and that was free! If they are to long, they will shorten them for a fee, forget what since we didn't shorten them.

DH could have hung them, but between working and moving he needed a break and we didn't think that was a bad price at all!

Good luck, hope that helps! :)

I love Just Blinds. I don't know if I can post the link, but just google them and you'll find it :) They are an online blinds store. I have ordered from them several times and their customer service, shipping and products are fantastic.

The great thing is, if you provide them the measurements and the type of blinds you are interested in, it will give you the exact pricing. So it's a good way to help your budgeting process. You can also order several samples ahead of time and they are free.

Good luck!

When we bought our new house I used Budget Blinds. They came out and measured then delivered and installed them. It was all included in the price.

We went with real wood blinds as they were the same price as the faux. I have loved them. They have held up really well, no warping or yellowing. (they're 10 years old) The reason we chose wood over faux was because the real wood is much lighter (in weight) so it had fewer cords running through the blinds. I have a couple of big windows and I didn't want the blinds to be super heavy and hard to pull up.

We are finishing our basement so I will be having them come out in the next few weeks for those windows. I've been really happy with them.

We did this too. The promotion they were running we moved into our new home was $99 to install the whole house. Totally worth it.
