Any ideas of a great Father/Daughter dance song? What songs did you use? Please post your song choices.

We are playing "I loved her first" by Heartland.. I cry every time I hear it...

My dance with my dad will be to Barbar Streisand's Evergreen. It was my parents song and since my mom past away a few years ago, it is going to be our father/daughter dance to honor her.

I've been having a lot of issues with picking a song to dance with my dad to. All of the songs I find are about how wonderful and beautiful the daughter is. I want something that shows my appreciation to my dad for everything he's done for me. I originally was going to use "Lullaby (Goodnight my angel)" by Billy Joel because it's a beautiful song and I know my dad would cry if he heard it, but ultimately it didn't have the right words in it for what I'm looking for.

I've decided to dance with him to "Kind and Generous" by Natalie Merchant. It's sort of paced a little strangely, so I'm sure we're going to have dancing issues with it, but it has the meaning that I was looking for. I'm nervous about picking a more upbeat song than what is traditionally used, but I hope he'll understand the reason I picked it when he hears it. For a little fun before the song plays, we're going to have the DJ play "Wooly Bully" when he announces our dance. My nickname since I was a baby was wooly bully and my dad used to always sing the song to me when I was younger. I think it'll lighten the mood a little.

Sorry to hijack! Good luck finding your song, there's thousands to choose from, I'm sure you'll find the perfect one! :goodvibes

I loved Celine Dion's "because you loved Me" but I went with "A Song for my Daughter" that I found online after hearing it at a friend's wedding. It's a real tear jerker but it was perfect.
My dad suggested "Butterfly Kisses" (it was still popular at the time) but I just cannot stand that song!

I'm using butterfly kisses by micheal bolton, tear jerking and its the song mom my and i have talked about using this song since i was little.

I am also dedicating Taylor Swifts "Best Day" to my parents at some point in the reception, another tearjerker. It would be the mother daughter dance but at this point, i'm forgoing the M/D because my friends moms wont be there might be a little akward.

I let my dad pick the song and he decided on Tim McGraw's "My little girl". Its kinda overused but it makes my big tough daddy cry every time he hears it so I wasn't about to get in the way of that. And its a beautiful song!! Good luck, I know if I was picking it out I would be lost! Did you ask your dad for his opinion? You may be surprised! I never thought my dad even thought about it!

My sister did this and boy was everyone in tears. Her hubby always jokes when we look at pictures and says "Niagara Falls!" It was a very emotional few minutes!

Me and my dad are doing a very non-traditional father-daughter dance, Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond. I am very close with my dad and know I am going to be a mess if we do anything sad or mushy, so instead I picked a fun song that is very special to us and our relationship. I grew up watching the Red Sox with him, and we are both huge fans and watch the games together, and for anyone who doesn't know, Sweet Caroline is something like the Red Sox Anthem, so I picked this.

I love all these songs that everyone has posted! .....at my dads wedding I danced with him since my stepmoms father passed away when she was little. We danced to Tough Little Boys by Gary Allen. I still love this song.

I did "once upon a dream" from sleeping beauty. My dad used to pick me up when I was little and dance me around whenever we heard that song or watched the movie. It was a sentimental choice and he cried. Afterward he actually went into the bathroom and cried. My dad is a softee :).

I love "butterfly kisses" but it only works if you and your dad gave each other "butterfly kisses" when you were little. Those are kisses with your eyelashes for anyone wondering.

My FAVORITE especially for a cinderella/princess wedding is "Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman...you have to watch his video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLYxtuC0oRk&ob=av2n

Major tear jerker. The daughter that he wrote the song about was later killed in a car accident. He didn't know how true this song was when he wrote it.

I'm not sure if we're doing one--- but if we do, it'll be to "There Goes My Life" by Kenny Chesney. My dad watches the music video all the time and cries, so it's perfect :)

Some other songs...not necessarily father daughter...

My favorite for during the wedding or first dance with your husband:

I saw your thread and I just HAD to comment. I got married 13 years ago, but if I was getting married today, I would chose "Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman..... without a doubt! This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it and it is a song I hope my DD will chose for her daddy-daughter dance :).

We will probably be dancing to one of these four:

"Sweetheart" by Jont...... such a pretty song.

"My Wish" by Rascal Flatts

"Wish For You" by Faith Hill (we played this one at my grandfather's funeral so it has a special place in our hearts)

"In My Life" by the Beatles (my dad loves them)

It's gonna be a tough choice but at least we know we'll be happy with whatever one.

I'm dancing with my dad "My Girl" by the Temptations and then the DJ will ask guests to grab their girl and hit the dance floor. :thumbsup2

I used "little Wonders" by Rob Thomas. It always chokes me up.

My father in law heard "Stealing Cinderella" by Chuck Wicks the day it debuted on the radio, a little over 3 years ago, and chose that to dance with my Cinderella!!

someone had on their PJ/TR that they danced to "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story with their dad. I got teary eyed thinking about the lyrics and thats what I think I am going to chose for me and my dad's dance together.

"Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton. My dad and I have an understood love for Clapton and its kind of our go-to song for everything. I cant listen to it ever without crying. Its our special song!
