Fat Profiling

I wonder if they couldn't install a few sets of seats to accomodate larger passengers. Instead of having 4 on the row, have 2 or 3 wider seats, or something like that. It would be somewhat comparable to the special boats on small world or POTC that accomodate guests in wheelchairs. That way they wouldn't have to totally redesign the ride and retrofit all of the seats.

^ Knowing Universal, they'd probably label those seats, The Wizarding WIDE World of Harry Potter !

How are those Disney rides at accommodating overweight guests? Can someone who is 5'10" and 230lbs comfortably ride all of them? How about someone who is 6'5"? I'm asking seriously. I'm sure TOT isn't a problem as there is no shoulder harness. Same with Star Tours. But what about RnR?

DH is 6' 7" tall and weighs 230....so he's slim but VERY tall....he fits on every ride at WDW.....(as another poster wrote, his legs sometimes get scrunched, but he's been on every ride, including RNRC)..

on the other hand, he had a problem on dueling dragons....his head was above the headrest and as a result he had no support at all....he thinks he got severely nauseated for that reason (he never gets sick on rides, but he got really really sick after riding dueling dragons)....

anyway, WDW rides have never presented him a problem, but that's for someone who's just excessively tall...

No, I didn't pass the 'red light/green light' test on the seats located outside the attraction, so it didn't make sense for me to try and ride. I'm glad I decided that because I would have been mortified if I'd been pulled out of line during 'fat patrol' and refused entry.

This is the real problem!! The fear of being pulled out is much more than the disappointment! People won't even try to go because of the fear of being dragged out of line or have the red light of doom.

Not good, not good at all!!

i can't think of anything more humiliating....with everyone's eyes on YOU as you're pulled out.....geez.....how incredibly embarrassing.......

Not just humiliating (though it definitely is that), but imagine what that will do to guests once the WWoHP is open to the general public and the wait time is 3-5 hours long. It's my understanding that they don't pull people out to test seats until they're near the front, which means there could be people who tried the test seats out front and fit those and then spent half of their day in line only to be denied ride access. Considering how much it costs to get into a theme park, that could be an incredible cost of time and money for a park guest. There are lots of people who only allot a day or two in their trip itinerary for Universal. That humiliation could come with the price of half a day's park admission. That's a real insult over injury.

DW (parrotheadlois) and I listened to the podcast on our way home from work today. Maybe it's because of what I do for a living, but all I could think of was, "Which line is longer: a) the one with Universal execs and designers applying for unemployment benefits, or b) the one with lawyers looking to sue the company?

What idiots decided this was a good idea?

Wide shoulders - check
Big Chest - Check
Gut - Check
Universal Orlando - Not going.

And neither will my wife and kids. I just prefer to not deal with it.

We were gong in Sept but neither I (weight issues) nor my DS (broad shoulders, big muscles) want to take a chance on not being able to ride. Keeping ourselves and our money at Disney.

i told DS about the height restriction - you can't be taller than 6'3" and he was in SHOCK!!!

he cant' believe someone would build a ride that limits height that severely..

he was really annoyed to learn that he won't be able to ride it...

Tell me about it!!! 6'7 on Rock 'n Roller Coaster makes sense but 6'3 is ridiculous!!! There is a significant percentage of the Male population in this country that are within that 6'3 - 6'5 range....Not that I would be able to ride it anyway I am 6'4 250 lbs with football shoulders, I can barley fit in the shoulder restraints of the rides that offer the larger third row seating......

I'm a big guy so I am used to it, I just feel bad for people who are average or not obese being singled out and denied....That's why I stick to Disney because even if I can't fit on Space Mountain I can always enjoy a Dole Whip :thumbsup2 After all we all know it's all about the food :goodvibes
