Fat Friendly Rides???

We just returned and I posted a thread simillar to this before we left... all the posters alleviated my fears... AND, they were RIGHT!!! I a pretty big... size 26/28 and I rode everything!!! The only trouble I had were turnstiles on PoC and Haunted Mansion... I let myself into the chain section in PoC and the HM I squeezed through...had a moment of worry though.

It was GREAT!

I am pooh sized and a tall lady too..so I share a lot of your same concerns but I do pretty much everything at both WDW and Universal. Have a good solution to the turnstiles though, and it saves a lot of embarrassment. If you go through sideways you normally fit rather than walking straight through it, and if you KEEP MOVING and do not stop it is easier to get through. As I approach a turnstile at say PoC I just step into it sideways and keep walking and I go right through, if I stop and do it, I tend to stick in it more and feel foolish. So moral of story is walk right up turn sideways and keep moving through those turnstiles..... :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Make sure if you go on the spinning rollercoaster at AK you get your own car. Two Pooh size people cannot fit into one car no matter what the CMs try to tell you.

As a "pooh sized"....excuse me fat, tall guy (48" waist, 6'4") I only had trouble with 2 rides. One was the oldest roller coaster in MK (don't remember the name) and Test Track. Unfortunately, I got the back seat on Test Track and still have the speaker indentations on my knee's. If you're tall, make sure to get the front seats an everything. The CM's were always very accomodating with this for me last year. :bounce:

I would just add that if you want to go on Kali Rapids in Animal Kingdom to request one-person seating. They are 2-person seating and if you're pooh (or ewe) sized the seat belt will only fit around you and not the other person. I am so glad that we're brave enough to inquire. I did so for my first trip in 2001 to alleviate worries and I'm so glad I did! The more word we get out - the better time all us pooh-sized people!! Ely :wizard:

TOO FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!

I did this once squating to get a ream of copy paper out of a cabinet at work.

I will NEVER forget the sound of ripping fabric!!

I laughed so hard I had all my coworker laughing at my laughing, not my pants.
;) I knew I should have worn Bridget Jones gramma panties that day! ;)

Anyways, I'm a 20 and the only thing I had a issue with is that d@# primival whirl ride. It was a little tight, I'm only 5'3" and the way the cars round your legs and the person's legs next to you share space. That ride knocked the pooh stuffing right out of me and I WILL NOT ride it again.

Give me Mission:Space any time, just don't make me do Primival Whirl!!!!

Sorry to hear about your splitting experience at MK

Word has it that the bar on BTMRR can be a bit snug, if ya know what I mean!

Are the rides at Sea World made for the whale sized? pirate: I asked and so did one other person on the Sea World board, but maybe all you Pooh's didn't see it. What are the seat belts like? Do they have seat belts on Wild Arctic and Journey Into Atlantis? TIA :flower:

Let me start by saying that I am close to 300 pounds and have a 48 waist. There is nothing at WDW that I haven't fit into quite comfortably. So I would say don't worry, hit them all.

Short story for us gravity impaired people. I was at Universal last week. I enjoy the place and think it is worth a day trip. I was going to go on the new "Mummy" ride and when I got there on the curb out front was a seat mockup. The sign read that if you didn't know for sure if you would fit in the seat try this before you get inside and have to exit.

I looked at the mockup and felt that I could fit in it but I wasn't about to make a fool of myself right out there in the street with hundreds of people watching. If I had gotten in and not been able to get out easily or just not fit it would have been way more embarrasing then the cost of admission warrented. Net result = I didn't ride it. If the purpose of the mockup was to save face when inside the line a little sensitivity training might be usable for whomever decided that right out in public with hundreds of people watching would be a suitable alternative.

I am going to be contacting Universal about this. For heavens sake all they have to do is put it in a little alcove and not make a side show out of it.

That's just wrong to do that at Universal, I'm curious if you get a response.

I guess my concern (being a size 26/28) is not being able to make Dumbo fly. So I always make DH take my daughter on most the rides (I get motion sick anyway). But there are a few I'd like to take her on, but am a little scared to.

Well Kraken (the big green rollercoaster you can see for miles!) has an over-the-shoulder chest restraint with a seat belt that comes up betwen your legs and snaps into it. They have a row of 50" chest restraints for the "Pooh" sized. Journey to Atlantis doesn't have any restraints :earseek: It's a log flume just like Splash Mountain so if you find you don't have any problems with SM then you'll have no probs with JtoA :bitelip: Hope this helps. Have fun! x x x

All this info has been SO helpful!!!! I have read the AT LARGE section on the other site, but hearing from more people just continues to put me more at ease. I guess my concern is because all my weight on on my thighs and butt. I have been worried about the bars being able to latch.

I am a size 24 and was able to ride Dumbo with my 4 year old dd the last time we went. I had no problem fitting. We also had no problem making it fly up and down.

I also just rode dumbo with my dd who is 3 and 28 pounds... I weigh close to 300 and it flew just fine!

I'm with you, I'm pear shaped all the way! Plus, I'm tall (5'9), so some rides can be really uncomfortable. I've heard some things about Space Mountain being on small, so I'm not going to ride (just to be on the safe side) :)

I'm a size 22 and I had very little probs at WDW. :) Of course I was VERY naive (and quite giddy about being in MK for the first time :)) about such stuff since I assumed that every ride I can fit in , I just flumped my big butt down in the rides and was oblivious to any problems if I had any. :goodvibes

My husband on the other hand was (and still is ) VERY self concious about getting into rides and stuff since he is pooh sized too , so I did my research b4 hand, and I am still doing research for our upcomming trip.

The rides were very accomidating, the only problems we had was at MK at Philharmagic, lets just say 2 pooh sized ppl should not sit close there, we felt like we were sitting in school desks chair made for preschoolers ! lol

I have read to just go through the chain entrances and not try the turnstiles, like especially for Pirates of the Car. Are those entrances right by the turnstiles? Is there a problem meeting back up with your party?

No problems for me on any ride... I'm 5'11, about 360 pounds with a 54 inch waist (but I am losing :) )

Look at my sig... I'm not "pooh-sized", I'm "bigger than Pooh"-sized. :)

Thank all of you for your honesty and your great stories. My DH a little on the pooh size is more built like a linebacker and has had trouble in our home town park with the rides that latch over the shoulders. He has not been refused but he has felt like there is no way it will latch and if it does he can't breath. Any other linebacker out there? How are the rides for the wide guys? :grouphug: Break!
