Fastpass today in hollywood studios?????

Sounds like everything worked out okay. When a new system such as FP+/MDE is being introduced on such a LARGE scale, there are bound to be hiccups. Hopefully the cast and crew at DHS have learned from this experience and will be able to use it to make things flow easier during downtime/outages in the future.

I really hate when people panic over things like this, it just makes the situation worse for everyone involved. They were handing out paper FP... they were still honoring FP+ when pulled up on people's phones. Worst case scenario, just go ride Muppets or Great Movie Ride and come back to TSMM or ToT later when you have calmed down a bit.

I don't understand criticizing people for only having their MB with them and no other forms of payment, either- isn't that one of the benefits of the MB that Disney has touted all along, not having to take anything except your MB to the parks with you? It's not something I would do because I always carry my purse, but I can see why people would.

Not intended as a criticism, just an example of 'caveat emptor - buyer beware'.
Just because we gave money to someone for a product or service, doesn't mean it will always perform to our expectation. In fact, the small print often informs us of this, but we tend to panic when it happens. Better always to have a backup plan no matter how much we trust the seller.

I agree with this, it is common sense. However in the end it still falls back on Disney for saying you don't need anything except your MB. If they're going to do that, they still need some backup system in place to be able to honor purchases with the MB even if they can't scan them the normal way. Otherwise tell people when they check-in at their resort that even if they have a card linked to their MB, they need to be sure they carry back-up cash or credit cards with them in the parks. JMO.

Umm... if someone on facebook is posting their experience right now why do you need to come here? Seems like you're getting all the information you need from the facebook posts.

I'm assuming to see if anyone else on the dis knows anything and also to share the info. Why do you feel a need to post if you're obviously not interested? There's nothing wrong with the OP posting.

I may (& likely have) missed something official from Disney. But I'm not sure they've ever said "you don't need anything else" only "everything in one place." Which, to be honest, is no different than the old KTTW cards. Does anyone have a old screen capture or photo of mail from Disney telling us that MBs mean we don't need to carry anything else? Or have we only come to believe this from hearing it from each other?

Possible! I always assumed all the time notices were all networked together... But I may have that wrong.

Or they are networked together, but the posted time is inaccurate and the 210 minute wait was what someone physically timed their wait to be ...

They may have not released anything that says, word-for-word, "Don't take your money/credit card/purse to the parks, you only need your Magic Band." But I know that I have heard it from cast members more than once. When we checked into Pop last September I remember the CM saying, "Are you sure you don't want to link a credit card to your Magic Bands? Then you won't even have to carry your purse to the parks," etc, and me replying that wouldn't be a problem for me because I will always carry my purse and it was just a small crossbody. However at our last trip a couple of weeks ago when we checked in a POR, we didn't get the same spiel, maybe because we DID link a CC to the bands, so they didn't have to try and talk us into it.

Here is something from Disney's official site:
Q.

What is a MagicBand?
A.

Tap into the magic with your MagicBand on your wrist. This colorful wristband is actually an all-in-one device that effortlessly connects you to all the vacation choices you made with My Disney Experience.

Your MagicBand enables you to travel lighter throughout your vacation. Use it to enter the parks, unlock your Disney Resort hotel room and buy food and merchandise. Plus, your MagicBand gives you FastPass+ access to all the experiences you’ve selected online, so you can simply concentrate on enjoying the fun with the people you care about.

MagicBands are currently being tested by a limited number of pre-selected Guests. Due to the nature of the test, we are unable to accommodate requests to participate.

You must be FastPass+ eligible to use FastPass+ service. Valid theme park admission is required.
To me that terminology is referring to carrying a purse or wallet, because it's not like a KTTW would take up any more space if you WERE carrying a wallet (if that makes sense). At the very least there isn't any fine print saying, "Always be sure you have a back-up form of payment with you in the parks."

Fair enough. Seems Disney never said it, but a lot of people are interpreting it this way (guests and cast members).

Or they are networked together, but the posted time is inaccurate and the 210 minute wait was what someone physically timed their wait to be ...

Sadly, "timing the wait" can't be true in this case... The 210min wait was posted at 10:30am. That would mean someone timing the wait would had to have gotten in line at 7:00am on a non-EMH day.

Or I suppose if it was a true disney pro, who went all the time to the parks and had a lot of the logistics memorized.... and she wasn't turned away by the technical issues, but just wanted to see "what was going on"... Then perhaps she managed to get to TSMM at say 9:10 after fighting the mess at the gates... The waited in line until 10:25 (less than 90min) and recognized at that point she was standing exactly at a place in the line from which she's waited a minimum 2hours a few times in the past. As soon as she noticed this she texted/tweeted the info to her friend on DisBoards who posted it right away.... Seems like a stretch tho.

We were at DHS yesterday morning, the last day of our trip. We were there about 8:30, RD was about 8:45. Lots of delays getting through as the bands were not working and even when they were, the CM couldn't get service on their Ipads or scanners to log people through the gates! We had originally planned MK for this day, but had done everything we wanted, so decided to repeat our favs over at DHS. FP for RnRC 9:35-10:35, TOT 11-12. So, we headed straight to Toy Story, figuring we had until 10:35 to make our FP at RnRC. Like I said, immediately to TSMM at RD, get there, wait time is already 45 min?! OK, it's only 9, we had barely waited in a line all week (thanks to all the great advice on here!) so we decided let's just wait and ride it one last time, still plenty of time to spare for our FP times (so we thought). Having only ridden it on FP, we were not really sure where the line goes, so hard to judge rest of the wait, however, once it hit 30 mins, we knew it would be longer than the posted 45. Long story short, we ended up in line over 90 mins. Wait time was posted at 115 when we got off and the FP line was hundreds deep down the alley way! We changed (or thought) we did our FP for RnRC and TOT accordingly as we were waiting, so no worries (again, bad assumption) Additionally booked lunch while in line at 50's prime time. So we finally get off and get over to TOT only to find out that the bands still aren't working and they are telling us "well, if you know your time, just go in if its your time slot"...it's beginning to click now why the wait at TSMM was so long, it was the "honor system" for FP. We rode quickly, no wait in FP line at TOT (everyone was still at TSMM lol!). We then go over to RnRC hoping our time/bands will work as the system crashed on me when we were trying to change times. They tell us bands are now working, but Blue Mickey appears, they tell us no worries, and fix it and let us through. After our ride, I check MDE and it turns out BOTH our original FP for RnRC AND the time we changed to (not occurring yet) are on there! So, we go to our lunch, (CM had to manually bill us as bands not working) and head back to RnRC hoping it still works...and it DOES! Bonus ride for us. Some will flame us I'm sure, but considering the fiasco of the morning, it seemed fair to me, plus it was legitimately on our MDE as FP. We were thrilled to end our Disney trip riding one of our favorites one last time. I do wish there was an easy answer for what they should/could do if the system crashes. Overall, we were very pleased with how FP+ worked for us. Using that, doing RD, EMH (am and pm) and planning wisely we had no waits until yesterdays glitch. Hope they got it fixed by now, though!

Like Davkata, Friday was our last day after a pretty magical vacation (thanks to the advice and planning on these boards and easywdw.

So, we arrive at HS prior to RD. We are in line early and getting in was a pain - due to the system not working properly. We had until noon, so our FP+ were: TOT 9-10, RNRC 10-11 and ST (throw away) 11-12.

We went straight to TSMM. Huge line and waits! WTH??? Oh yeah, it was the freakin' honor system for FP and guess what? Lots of people have no honor. We had ridden it 3 times on our previous DHS day, so we left the area and went to use our FP and not get more frustrated.

Get to TOT and it is closed! Go to the FP+ folks to reschedule - its down. I don't have a smart phone so I had used my computer at home and I expect the system to work. They said "go to Guest Services by the entrance and they will give you a card" Guest services was horribly backed up by a BUNCH of unhappy people. Forget this! We only have til noon.

At this time (915) RnRC showed a 30 minute wait. We asked a cast member if that was accurate. She said it was about 120 minutes and that the system was not updating times properly. We ended up doing single rider and it took about 25 minutes.

We got a lemonade and tried the FP kiosk again at 1000. We were directed to Guest Services to get our FP changed. Um......no!!! The FP only worked if you had a hard copy, a smart phone showing it, or a print out. People that had a card had to give it up when they used the FP. We personally observed people who had it on the phone or a print out with all their FP use the same FP over and over!

Thankfully, I did have a print out of my FP. We did RNRC, TOT when it opened, and ST.

As far as the wait times in the morning....they were way off!! TOT showed 5 minutes - it was actually 45 minutes at 1015. RNRC was way off too! So for those of you who say, "Oh it wasn't that bad" my response it YES IT WAS. Because if the system was down for FP and all, why the heck do you think it worked for wait times? DUH!

It sucked. We left unhappy and disillusioned at 11:45 am.

Sounds like everything worked out okay.
No it did not

When a new system such as FP+/MDE is being introduced on such a LARGE scale, there are bound to be hiccups.

Why should I, who paid good money, be a freaking guinea pig for this?

Hopefully the cast and crew at DHS have learned from this experience and will be able to use it to make things flow easier during downtime/outages in the future.

This doesn't fix my vacation does it????

I really hate when people panic over things like this, it just makes the situation worse for everyone involved.

I call BS on this. I am a vet and didn't panic. I went to plan B and it still sucked like a vacuum.

They were handing out paper FP... they were still honoring FP+ when pulled up on people's phones.

They were ONLY handing out paper FP if you stood in the horrendous line at the Guest Services at the entrance and not everyone has a smart phone

Worst case scenario, just go ride Muppets or Great Movie Ride and come back to TSMM or ToT later when you have calmed down a bit.

Are you a troll or a disney apologist? For the real people who were there with real families, it was a huge bummer.

I love Disney, but this shizz is a deal breaker. I would like a refund on my one day and have emailed them to let them know. They can get the data from my "magic band" and see I truly did not get my money worth.

The worst thing? It put a cruddy ending to an almost wonderful trip and this is what my kiddo is focusing on. Augh!

We went to universal 3 years back and had a miserable experience. Complained and we were sent 2 free passes that don't expire. Worth a try letting disney know. You might not get a refund, but you could get a future perk.
