fastpass+ tips and advice please

So tomorrow I can select and book my fast passes, but I've never used fast pass+ and basically have no clue haha, so literally any info that anyone is able to give regarding the fast pass's will be very much appreciated.

we already have all of our meal choices booked, and itinerary is written aside from adding in the fastpasses, and considering I've never planned a single element of a Disney trip before, (we usually plan nothing and just go with the flow)I am quite proud that I've managed to write up an itinerary but I feel like I may fall flat on my face when booking up the fast passes.

if anyone has info on what I have written below or anything else I would really really appreciate it so so much.

do's & don'ts
what attractions should or shouldn't we get fast pass's for?
what times are best to book fast pass's for?
are the characters worth getting fast pass's for, my son will only be 22 months at the time, and we have a few character meals any way.

I do love a Fast pass - they are so handy and if you've already got an itinerary it will be easy to book round that.

Right off the bat I would say definitely get a FP+ for toy story midway Mania as the queues for that are consistently long.

The rest depends I would say on who you are traveling with As if it's just you, your significant other and your Son, I think your best bet would be to FP+ for rides/meet and greats you think the little one would want to go on, so you don't have to queue with a toddler. As on most of the big rides they do baby swap tickets which is a bit like a FP.

Although if it's a bigger party, do a mix of both few of the Kiddie rides with a couple of the thrill rides to keep everyone happy.

Last trip as we had my son who was 1 and my nephew who was 2 and a half having FP for the Pooh ride, meeting Mickey and Small Small world helped so much

I would say just book your families favourites. If you want 7DMT or A&E make sure you get them first and probably will need to be a few days in to get the times you want.

Epcot & DHS operate a tiered system which makes it tricker. As a family we prefer R'n'R to TSM so that is our tier one choice hence we hardly go on TSM anymore.

You can only book a FP+ for one of the rides in the short list of attraction (Tier A) So in Epcot because Soarin and Test Track are both in Tier A you have to choose which one you'd prefer a FP+ for. Your other 2 FP+ are booked from Tier B attractions. ( not sure if the call the tiers A & B or 1 & 2)

thanks for all of your advice I have officially booked all my fastpass and although it took some time to fit it around our already planned out itinerary, the app itself was very easy to use, I don't know why but I had this feeling that it was going to be a nightmare, but it really wasn't

it seems Anna and Elsa are a popular choice for fast pass, but we really are not to fussed about them, I love the movie but meeting them doesn't really appeal to me, my fiancé or my mum and my son will only be 22 months at the time, and although he loves the movie Frozen, I don't think he will be too bothered by meeting them, I felt the rides were more important although I am now sitting here thinking how cute the pictures would be of him with the princesses i.e Cinderella, belle, etc but equally I know he loves going on rides, and I am not sure how he will even react to the characters so don't really want to waste tooo many fastpasses on character meet and greets.

now I see on facebook that the new show at animal kingdom is set to open towards the end of April, but it was not showing on the app at all today, so my question is when would this show up on there and we would most certainly have a change around of fast passes to enable us to see that
