FASTPASS Return Times to Be Enforced Beginning March 7

Beginning March 7, 2012, Cast Members will be enforcing the Return Time on FASTPASSES. Guests will only be allowed to return during the time frame indicated on their FASTPASSES, not any later. (For example, if your Return Time is 4:00 - 5:00 pm, you cannot return at 5:30 pm and expect the FASTPASS to be honored.)

Got this from another site, what the he$$ I am very upset !!! Please comment !!!
:headache::eek::guilty::sad1::mad::scared1::confused:

I prefer having a thread on here since it technically IS a rumor, plus everyone on this side of Dis usually has the best opinion and logic :thumbsup2

Now about this...

I just see a huge problem coming from all of this: You can't control what time your fastpass is for, and if its during a dining reservation tough luck and that's it? I know there have been times when we have had this happen, Soarin' fastpasses for 1 PM, ADR's at Chefs de France at 12:30, and theres no way we made it back at 2, it was usually around 2:30 or so.

Also, I personally absolutely hate the idea of scheduling every last thing, scheduling ride times is where I lose it, I actually enjoy having a little authority in being able to just go to a restaurant or a ride and eat there or ride it without being told they're full or that I don't have a reservation...what a mess.

You actually can control what time the fastpass is for. Somewhat. If the time that is posted is conflicting with an ADR, come back in in half an hour and get one.

Also, no one is forcing you to get a fastpass.

It is about time this is happening. Also I can confirm the fact that the times will be enforced, but not 100% sure on the grace periods. CM's will be getting trained on it starting this week or next.

They need to be trained? To do what?

How to deal with irate guests would be my guess.

Can you imagine being the poor college kid who takes the FP in the middle of the sweltering July heat at 2:45 in the afternoon for a family with kids in the midst of a meltdown who have to be turned away because they are 5 minutes past the grace period?! :scared1:

This is going to turn into the type of thing where if you complain and are loud enough you will get your way :sad2:

Maybe its just me, but I don't get the expectation that that you'd be able to use the fastpass outside of the terms listed on it...you know, where it says to return BETWEEN the two. A few minutes late, sure....stuff happens. Expecting that you can show up 8 hours later? Not so much.

Maybe we're in the minority, but the wife and I haven't and won't try to show up after the passes state they expire.

I think it is a good idea what good is a rule (return time) if you don't enforce it. Disney has been to lax in enforcing rules in the past, which causes problems for people that DO follow rules.

We always return during the posted return time anyway, so I guess this won't affect our family. I say good, and if the Fastpass time doesn't work for you, then don't get it. Just my two cents, not trying to offend anyone!

Lots of sanctimonious dis'ers on this one.:rotfl:

All this is is the shoring up, the prelude to the 'pay for' fast pass that will soon take more from our collective pockets. Proving you should always be careful what you wish for...Especially with Disney.

They won't be paid for. None of them will be.

I'll admit to one who not only uses FPs outside of the window, but actually plans on doing so. That's "working the system" the way it's being used, and I make no apologies for it.

Enforcing FP windows is also kind of pointless. Statistically, there is no difference between using a FP on time and using it late. Yes, there can be some short-term peaks and valleys as a result, but over the course of any reasonable length of time, it all evens out.

That said, if they want to start enforcing FP return times, I won't complain, as long as it's a known thing and not dumped onto guests as a surprise. Their house, their rules. However, I think it would be best if the return window was expanded (say, a 2-hour window instead of a 1-hour window) if they are going ahead with this.

"At this present time" needs to be added to your post.... With the NexGen tech being gradually implemented it would not surprise me if some form of Fast Pass that you paid for was released... perhaps a free version will continue to exist but with limitations that over time will ween us off of it.... just like the monorail going away for evening EMHs which makes me consider the possibility that evening EMHs may one day be history due to the NexGen stuff being offered as a potential on-property perk in its place.

I've always been one to get there at opening. Then ride the popular rides and collect fast passes through lunch time. Then use those while collecting more during the peak times at the park.

That optimizes the number of rides I can ride.

If this change is still in effect the next time I go (probably 2-4 years) I will be surprised an disappointed, but I do understand it.

I found a news arcle link on this web site that explained the rumor that if this rumor does get implimented it is prob in preperation to a new nexgen fastpass system that may include allowing you to make reservations. I have look around for that link but cant find it. :confused3

I agree with this. In fact, why couldn't the window even be expanded to three hours? With that wide of a return time, everyone ought to be able to make their window, even if their dinner runs long or a ride breaks down.

:thumbsup2 I agree a 3 hour window would be great !!! Off Property would raise sand :scared1: but i would like to see no time experation for On Property FassPass holders. :rolleyes1 I know i will get flamed for this one !!! :lmao:

I don't have a problem with Disney enforcing the return time since it is their system. They do the studies to find what works. I would like something in return as a guest. If I show up in the park at 10 or 11 AM on a busy day don't give me a fast pass for Soarin at 9:45 PM and then tell me I have to use it within 1 hour of the time posted.

If they expect to get better control of wait times and fast pass returns they should be able to tweek the times to allow more passes to be issued for earlier in the day so you don't get these crazy return times.

I would like for WDW to use their statistical data to improve the times while enforcing the return to make the system fair for all.
