Fastpass return or replacement?

I spend $15 a drink at Tambu Lounge. I'll just drink one less Lapu Lapu per day.

Also, the DPB article says "Attractions continue to offer a traditional standby queue, or a virtual queue at certain attractions like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance- to maximize flexibility." As long as I still have the option to stand in a real line for FREE then its fine.

But keep in mind, that at $15 per day, an awful lot of people are going to buy that. It's going to be like the old FP system where they're quickly sold out for the day on the most popular ones.
Right? I don’t see how this is going to help the lines. Most people are going to buy this so it just shifts demand and lines a bit.

Okay, I'm not quite following.

I get the Genie / Lightening / Max pass is $15 per person, per day. So, is this required? Like does everyone have to get this - so basically it is just a price increase for the tickets we already bought? Or do people elect to add this "perk" , so it has an advantage to access a faster line - while people who elect not to wait in the stand by line?
No, you don’t have to buy it.

They're picking your pocket at a rate of $75 a day for a family of five - don't you think you're already paying enough?

It’s turning a $109 ticket into a $124 ticket because this doesn’t really feel “optional.” I think that’s a lot. And then the compete and total wildcard that is the extra paid headliners. Then add on park hopper. It is excessive.

From what I’ve heard locals say, they don’t really need a FP type system because if a line is long they shrug their shoulders and go another day with less crowds.

I'm local and totally disagree. It's a PITA to drive all the way over there and not be able to get on a ride of your choice. (This being said by a local who has yet to experience Rise of the Resistance.)

Watching the livestream, they just pointed out now 7am is the same time for lightning pass and RotR boarding passes! Len also said that he heard the pay per ride attractions will only be 1-2 per park. And he’s heard prices for those rides will be 8-20 dollars per ride.

ETA to fix typos

BUT, when you can only book one at a time, does that possibly mean you'll actually be able to get on some? Rather than having all the "premium" rides completely sold out long in advance?

Trying to find positives here... sorry.

This is my current understanding.

I'm already paying a fortune, and will continue to spend a fortune. As a family of 3 it's not as bad and $45/day, while I would prefer to not pay that, is just going to make it into our budgeting. One TS meal less, that we eat in our room instead, buys us 3 days FP. I would much prefer to be able to refresh for free FP's but if there's going to be a cost, which we all knew there would be at some point, then this is at least manageable in the grand scheme of things. For those on a tight budget I understand that this may be a tipping point or that it means saving longer (or just use standby) but fortunately this is not the case for us.

No, you don’t have to buy it.

Thank you for clarifying.

So, whether it has value would depend on how many people buy it on the day you go?

Did anyone happen to see/read, etc. if there was any indication at all that there will be any kind of limit on them?

I took it to mean you had to purchase Genie+ to then have the ability to pay for the additional rides not that you could just buy those rides at dynamic pricing. Now I am second guessing this though...
It's all so poorly worded. But it does say: "Schedule a time to arrive at up to two highly demanded attractions each day using the Lightning Lane entrance – like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park and Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure park (subject to limited availability; attractions not included with Disney Genie+)."
It doesn't show Buzz as a ride that can be purchased separately, that part of the Lightning Pass button is clipped so it's unclear if that'll be included in Genie+.
I agree. That's why I said the screen shot "seems to show" Buzz in that category. Seems weird to me that the app would mix Genie+ rides and other rides like that. But it's hard to explain it otherwise. (And I still don't get how SDD is one of the rides included in Genie+.)

The more I read, the more excited I get!! But am I the only one that didn't realize this was coming to DLR as well?

“You can make one selection at a time, throughout the day”

Some of you didn’t mind refreshing in the old days to get additional FPs, but I hate it. I was fine with my 3 prebooked passes and left it at that. I hate being on my phone when trying to be present with my family. Now I need to pull out my phone after every ride?

Thumbs down.

Well the Park Blog write up seems to indicate Smugglers Run would be included in the $15 Genie+ which seems strange 🤷‍♀️

“For the price of $15 per ticket per day at Walt Disney World Resort and $20 per ticket per day at Disneyland Resort, choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance. You can make one selection at a time, throughout the day – from classics like Haunted Mansion to thrill rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and newer favorites like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (attractions subject to limited availability).”
