Fastpass return or replacement?

I just mean if you pay the $15 for Genie+, if they’re saying 40 rides fall under that, it can’t be THAT many headliners that you have to pay the additional upcharge for!

and if it’s just one or two headliners, one can be rope dropped (plus resort guests get in 30 minutes early) and maybe the other can be at the end of the day right before park close.

Except people can’t make them 60 days in advance, so I feel like the constant refresh will be obsolete. There should be more availability.
Well ok, that's better. I meant more so that it'll be pick one, ride, pick the next, ride, and so on, but with less refreshing and hoping.

Resort people can book at 7 am from their room for their reserved park - off-site must wait until entering park.

That's a good perk. That and then being able to hop in a different line 30 minutes before park open...pretty good.
But you can only book one ride at a time - like paper FP was.

It’s still less for more. I get that it’s something folks can swallow price wise but I don’t believe it’s something that should be celebrated.
The idea of less for more is subjective. It seems like with this system I won’t have to struggle with tiering and I won’t have to hit refresh 1000 times a day. Those are major wins for me.

For sure. But it’s my hope that when you’re done with one ride, you will easily be able to get exactly what you want next, because there aren’t people out there already sitting on the best selections.

So here is the info on upcoming changes to DAS. I am a bit confused, when it says "you will not be able to make selections on the day of your visit".... are they just reiterating that the advance selections have to be made 2 days in advance (can't be made that day) or are they trying to say that if you choose those two advance selections, that's it - you won't be able to make any DAS return time selections the day of?

Coming Soon: 2 Exciting New Features
These options will be available in addition to our existing, in-person DAS program.
Pre-Arrival Registration and Planning via Live Video Chat
This fall, we’re introducing a new option to register virtually with a Cast Member via live video chat as early as 30 days in advance of a park visit.
During your chat with a Cast Member, you’ll also have the opportunity to select up to 2 experiences per day (subject to availability) using our new DAS Advance planning option. Please keep in mind that DAS Advance selections must be booked at least 2 days prior to the day you plan to redeem them, and you will not be able to make selections on the day of your visit.
If the experience you want is available, you’ll be given a one-hour return window to redeem during the day of your visit. Any selections you make will appear as plans on the My Disney Experience app or on this website.
Please note: at this time, live chat will be offered in English only.
Same-Day DAS Return Time Self-Selection Tool
A new way to request return times is also debuting this fall. In lieu of having to physically go to an experience or to a kiosk to obtain a return time from a Cast Member, Guests registered in the DAS program (and their party members) will be able to make return time selections right from the My Disney Experience app during the day of a park visit.

I'm confused. The announcement seems to suggest that the most popular rides -- the only one specifically mentioned is SDMT -- will not be available on Genie+. Instead, you can purchase up to two rides per day on those attractions, at dynamic pricing.

But one of the screen shots posted above (on page 89) shows SDD as an option that is included in Genie+. And the next screen shot seems to show Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin as one of the rides that can be purchased separately.

I took it to mean you had to purchase Genie+ to then have the ability to pay for the additional rides not that you could just buy those rides at dynamic pricing. Now I am second guessing this though...

For those of us doing WDW as a vacation I think it's much more bearable than for locals. Adding $15/person/day to is really a small cost (albeit annoying and harder for larger families) in the grand scheme of a Disney trip. Locals may not take so favourably to it.
They're picking your pocket at a rate of $75 a day for a family of five - don't you think you're already paying enough?

It doesn't show Buzz as a ride that can be purchased separately, that part of the Lightning Pass button is clipped so it's unclear if that'll be included in Genie+.

But keep in mind, that at $15 per day, an awful lot of people are going to buy that. It's going to be like the old FP system where they're quickly sold out for the day on the most popular ones.

I guess we’ll see! The plan as laid out sounds better the more I read!

Yeah. And we can enter 30 minutes early. So if you book your first ride early enough at park open, ride something in the first 30 minutes (remember, resort people spread across all 4 parks) - you have the potential to have gone on 2 rides and book another one before off-site gets a foot in the door!

Okay, I'm not quite following.

I get the Genie / Lightening / Max pass is $15 per person, per day. So, is this required? Like does everyone have to get this - so basically it is just a price increase for the tickets we already bought? Or do people elect to add this "perk" , so it has an advantage to access a faster line - while people who elect not to wait in the stand by line?
