How do fast passes work with rider swap? We have a 3 &6 year old the 6 year old can go on most rides the 3 year old can't. We were at DW 3 years ago and I can't remember how we did it. Actually I know we didn't do fp with the child swap pass.... anyone know how it works???

So I think only one parent (and in your case the 6 year old) needs to get a FP (but this is the part I'm unsure of). Then when your FP return comes up, one parent and the older one goes through the FP line, but they should pick up a baby swap pass from the CM at the entrance to the ride. Then they ride and then the other parent and the older one can use the baby swap pass to ride that ride again, waiting in the FP line as well.

It works the same as the normal baby swap, but the first parent waits in the FP return line instead of the stand-by line.

By the way, Hydroguy, I don't know what that guy's problem is. Don't worry about it, and I hope you are having a great WDW trip!

I made the mistake of asking a CM at Buzzlightyear last week if the policy was the same as the prior year as far as being able to use them anytime after the window. He started telling me that they needed to be used during the printed time. I played a bit stupid as to his authority and said I would check with the CM who took the pass and just proceeded onto the ride. I felt a bit guilty the rest of my trip, not being sure if I was breaking the rules or not. Is it truly official policy, or do they just not care and thus look the other way?

Well just this past November we went to use our FP's during the time printed and the CM told us the line was short so we shouldn't waste our FP's and he went on to say "THEY ARE GOOD ALL DAY TO USE AFTER THE PRINTED TIME" he said they are only good for the day but can be used at any time after the return time on the FP. And this came from the CM standing at Space mountain and he was with another CM, so I think it is a standard through out the park and not just people getting away with it.

Edit: I just wanted to point out that I didn't ask him for this information he just volunteered it (I already knew about it) so I don't think he would have just volunteered it if it wasn't accurate. Hope that helps you feel more confident next time.

Hey Hydo! Hope your having a blast at WDW!!! Cant wait to read your trip report!

Who cares, we all know Hydro is our expert! LOL FWIW, you are my hero, being at DW and posting here!!! You seriously rock dude! LOL :)

Thanks dangermouse, but that thread didn't tell me how many fastpasses we could have. I do see hydroguy's tips sticky above and there are about 4-5 threads about fastpasses, so I'm assuming one of them answers the question.

There is no set number of how many fast passes you can have in one day. The thing is, once the time on your FP is up you can get another FP. They are good to use all day after the return time on the ticket so you can end up with quite a large pile of FP's.

Hmm. So sounds like you are waiting anyway? If I get a fp now and the ride is for 3 hours later, then I'm stuck for 3 hours and can't get anymore fast passes? What do I do for that 3 hours if all rides have long waits?

Here's a really good explanation in the tips compilation: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1186052

Briefly, there's the return window time shown. Yep, might be 3 hours later, might be as little as 35 minutes later (if you get it right at opening) or 6-7 hours later (if you get it late afternoon). But, you can get another FP either when the window opens up, or 2 hours after you obtained that first one-- whichever comes first.

So if you grabbed Space FP right at 8 a.m. opening, it'll probably have a return time of 8:45. You're running around riding your favorite non-FP stuff (yay, PotC!) because the lines aren't bad yet. At 8:45 you can grab an Indy FP (don't have to use the Space one before getting another). It'll probably have a return time of, say, 9:45. At 9:45 you can grab one for Splash. By this time things are getting busier and maybe the return time on that one says "12:30". But there's another time down at the bottom that says, "Next FP available at: 11:45". Because that's 2 hours after you got it.

The point is, you spend the morning (mostly) riding stuff that doesn't take FPs, before it gets busy, while collecting all the FP you can for later. Later on, like maybe after your afternoon break, you get back to the park, the place is mobbed, and all the FP rides have 60-90 minutes waits. But you're holding 5 or 6 (or more, if you parkhopped to DCA) sets of FP to all those rides, so you waltz onto them one after another, with line waits of less than 10-15 minutes. Yippee!

That's kind of a rough outline. The tips threads make it really a lot clearer. I'm a very visual person, so I found the one with pictures the most helpful! :thumbsup2

Hope that helps! :)

Yeah...that's why I said SOME CMs and SOME rides.

I don't claim to be an expert like hydroguy over there. I'm just repeating things I've read on the WDW section of this board.

I've read those threads too with interest. However, I agree with Hydroguy here. Most of the WDW CMs who declined late FP use were on Soarin'... and the others for the most part were all "heard it from my neighbor/friend" type of incidents. Not first person knowledge. And since I don't even plan to waste valuable Epcot time on Soarin', I don't worry about it.

That said, I intend to use late FP at WDW this fall. And if they get declined, I'll just wait awhile for there to be a new CM there. :confused3 I don't think it will be a problem.

Thanks! Your summary helped me out a lot. I will read the tips in more detail as I get time. Thanks again.

vossjemi, when I first started reading about all this fastpass stuff, I was really overwhelmed and a little confused...but once I got there and grabbed my first FP, it all made sense. Of course, we didn't even get to use one! They just were not needed...bummer! :rotfl2: (just kidding of course!)
