Fastpass+, My Disney Experience, Tickets, Canceling

So here's my situation and question. We have a trip planned for November 2015. I have a room only reservation at POR, and am planning to buy my 5-day park tickets from Undercover Tourist and attach to My Disney Experience to make Fastpass+ reservations at the 60 day mark. Now, due to financial circumstances that won't become finalized until very close to the 60 day mark (or after), we may cancel this trip and go early next year. My question is this, I've been told park tickets don't activate until you walk through the gate of a park, at that point the clock starts ticking on, in my case, the 5 days (within 14 days), but what if I make Fastpass+ reservations with the tickets in MDE, but cancel the trip? Will the tickets still be good for a later trip in early 2016, or does making the Fastpass+ reservations for the November trip somehow "activate" them? We have plane tickets on Southwest (which we can change), we have a room only reservation at POR (which we can cancel/change), the only question is what happens to the tickets if I purchase and attach to MDE and make Fastpass+ reservations but then need to change plans? Thanks for any help!

Nothing activates the tickets other than entering a park.

Thanks! So I can attache the tickets to my family in MDE, make Fastpass+ reservations using those tickets, THEN cancel the trip and the tickets will still be good for one year and can make new Fastpass+ reservations for the new trip next year? MDE won't get confused or anything?

MDE will not be confused. The ONLY way tickets can be activated is by going through the gates at a park.

Tickets don't expire. The tickets can remain in your MDE account until you need to use them... they will always be valid.
