I agree. I'm not sure why Josh is being made out to be the bad guy...

seriously what a ridiculous analogy lolYes, I too associate violent acts from role models to requests on a message board. I know EXACTLY what you mean...

I love his site, his information is invaluable and it's extremely accurate. And he gives it out for free. He's also hilarious and fun to read. So- informative, accurate, funny and free. And he doesn't like his pictures being taken and he asks for people to stop when they do. I don't see a reason not to keep making use of the site.

Can we not steal my photos please?

I meant THAT is my point. My autocorrect is autoincorrect today...Thank is my point. I like him a great deal. The way he worded his request caught me off-guard and disappointed me. I guess I expected it to be worded more gently, or something.
There were way more polite ways to ask the picture be taken down. He could have just PMed the person and asked politely. Or even on the thread, just say, would you mind taking the picture down? But to go right to "stealing"?
JMO.
Yup.
This whole thread is actually making me like the Disboards less, and Josh/easyWDW more.
And now he is on twitter whining about the Disboards again LOL
I'm sure he'd love to have a bunch of us populating his forums.
Prophecy fulfilled. That's polite? I'd hate to see him rude, then.
I don't think the word "no" has ever popped into my head faster.
On the picture thing, downloading my picture and uploading it to another server or host is copyright infringement. It's theft. And one picture isn't necessarily a big deal, but if I let people steal one, the next person might think it's okay to steal two pictures and the next person three. And once you upload a picture that doesn't belong to you to a site like photobucket, the license for the photo changes and anybody can then download that picture and use it as they see fit or hotlink it. They would never see who the original owner is or that the picture included "credit: site" somewhere. Not that it matters if you "credit" it somewhere or not. It's not like you can hand out pirated DVDs of The Avengers 2 but it's okay because you wrote "credit Disney" on the back. It's a common misconception.
If the user had asked permission to use the photo, I absolutely would have let them. People ask me all the time. I would have even sent the original if I thought it would be helpful.
As far as pictures of other people go, it's sort of inevitable that it happens. I would love it if nobody was ever in my photos. People wait around hours after the parks close to get those. As far as the user here that requested the photos of his family be removed, I did it immediately after the request. I am under absolutely no legal obligation to, but I can respect someone's desire to not have their picture up on some guy's website.
As far as, "Why aren't you nicer, Josh?" The user stole from me. I'm not going to put on my white gloves and kissy face and give them a hug and say it's okay. Because it's not.
I think you'd be plenty surprised at who is participating on your site.I don't think the word "no" has ever popped into my head faster.
