Hi everyone,

I have a question I'm trying to get some clarification on something in regard to FastPasses. My boyfriend is a Cast Member and is planning on using his Disney ID to get into the parks when we go in June. My question is am I able to book FastPasses for us in advance using My Disney Experience or would I have to wait until the day of/after he picks up his card? I hope what I wrote makes sense...and I hope even more that someone might have an answer...or at least be able to direct me to where I can get an answer. :)

CMs can link their "Main Gate" pass(es) to MDE and the CM can book FPs for the Main Gate and 3 Guest Passes.

Thank you for the information. Is this able to be done in advance? I currently have a reservation for a hotel in June and when the 60 day window comes up I'd like to start booking FastPasses for us but I wasn't sure if that would be possible until we go down there (we're currently in NYC) and get the main gate pass.

Up to 7 days in advance.
The Cast Member needs to link the passes, then the FP+ reservations can be made up to 7 days in advance.

As soon as the onsite reservation is linked up to the CM's MDE account, the 60-day booking window will open when you are exactly 60 days out from check-in.

The CM will be able to book FPs for his Main Gate and his Guest Passes and the FP booking can only be done from his MDE. He can just add on your name for the room reservation/MB linking.

CM's get the benefit of their "friends and family" longer booking window. So you need to create a MDE account and you need your friend to create an MDE account and link the accounts by becoming friends. That's step 1.

Step 2. Tickets need to be attached to the accounts in order to reserve FP. If you are using your friend's guest pass for admission, then only your friend will be able to make FPs. If you will be using some sort of normal ticket media, you can book yours and you will have the option to add his assuming he has a Maingate attached to his account. You will not see an option to reserve FPs for the guest passes in your MDE account, ever (this is annoying).

But he will have to have the Maingate in advance. In the old days, you would show your ID and get a temporary paper ticket, but once the MDE system rolled out they gave CM's a plastic, reusable Maingate card and guest passes. So like others I am confused about why he doesn't already have one. Is his employment starting sometime in the future?

Does your friend not have a Main Gate? Is he not employed by WDW or DLand?

He was newly hired, maybe about two weeks ago. He is hired for Disney working at one of the theatres here in NYC. I had a preexisting reservation with Disney Resorts prior to him being hired. I guess we're trying to find out how best to synchronize my hotel reservation and to see if we are able to use his ID for entry. He was told that his ID is entry. He did not receive a separate card during new hire orientation.

From what I can tell and based on what people are saying, it's seems that we need to set up how MDE first. Perhaps that can be linked with his Disney ID creating an ability to book FastPasses?

The CM should set up his MDE. He needs to add your name to his Family/Friends list. There should be a drop down for him to add in his ID as a CM.

Then, link the Resort Reservation to the CM's MDE.

The Main Gate, which he doesn't appear to have, needs to be linked to open up the Guest Pass access.

Example: My CM friend has a Main Gate and the 3 Guest Passes become available for booking FPs. Each Guest Pass has a specific ID #.

I think I know the answer, but just want clarification for peace of mind.... My Dh is a castmember at our local Disney store and he and I both have main gate passes. In March, I'm taking my first trip out without him. I've never even used my main gate pass because he's always with me, so I won't need to worry about tickets because of the pass unless I choose to go on blackout dates? And I can link my pass to MDE and do fast pass+? I may also take some colleagues. It works for them as well, correct?

Your Main Gate needs to be linked in the MDE where his is linked because he is the CM. After it is linked to your name, you can book FPs in advance: 7 days unless you have a resort room booked, then it is 60 days. If someone listed or linked to the MDE has a regular ticket that is linked, then you'll have an automatic 30 day booking window.

If you have hard, plastic Guest Passes, they can be used by others if they enter the parks with you.

In Florida we stayed on property and I don't think we did FP+ last time we were in CA because we were using paper tickets due to blackout times
Ok. His Main Gate needs to be linked to his MDE account. He as the CM has to manage the MDE account and you can be listed as a Family member there.

Or maybe it is already linked. When we go as a family, he generally takes care of all those details since they always have us all go in under his pass. This is the first time I've ever been without him. I don't remember scheduling FP early the last trip, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Friend is cast member. I will be staying on site and will purchase a multi-day hopper. I will only be hanging out with friend for one day of my stay. I don't care if he controls my fastpasses for that one day, but I want to control my fastpasses for the other days. Will that be possible (assuming we want to book fastpasses together for the one day)?

Have your own MDE account and link your reservation and ticket to your Profile.

Invite, through your MDE friend list, your CM friend's MDE account to link to yours. After both MDEs are linked, you can book FPs for the both of you for that one day and also book all of your own FPs. You won't have access to his Guest Passes for booking FPs. If FPs are needed for the Guest Passes, CM friend can do the one-day booking from his MDE.
