Fastpass Enforcement coming?

I haven't read every post in this thread so maybe this has already been said.

This change in the fast pass system is not a good change for me and my family BUT I am pretty sure that I will adapt and change. And I am pretty sure someone smarter than me will figure out a way for us all to minimize wait times. New touring plans and strategies will be figured out for all of us crazy commando control freak tourists and we will all be okay.

I do not think this one change can keep me away from our favorite family vacation!

Now that the initial reactions are out, (obviously mixed reviews) I would love to see some new strategies start forming. Obviously rope drop becomes MUCH more important than it was before (if that is even possible)
More walking will mean good plans will be a must.

I agree, we are going in May and for those who use touringplans.com or easywdw.com I think that one might consider hitting the early EMH parks or the ones deemed as "not recommended" at opening then hopping to the lesser crowded parks later in the day. Even during the busy times you can get a lot done before noon if you are there at opening. Then hop to a lesser crowded park where you may still get some late FP's and the lines won't be that bad.

I love the fact that people love to sleep in and stay up late on vacation! It makes it so much nicer for those of us that don't mind getting up early and hustling to the parks. Even though some would consider out touring style as "commando", we still feel that we are not rushing around and we enjoy our time there, still way less stressful and easy going than our normal lives.

Haven't you heard? Disney heard the early morning park hours are under-utilized and have hired a bugler for each resort. Reveille will be blown at o-dark-thirty every morning and everyone will now be expected to tow the line and be ready for rope drop.

I've posted it a half-dozen times in the last 10 days or so. I found it a pretty good silver bullet until a couple of nights ago. ;)

Before that, I'd seen it only a half-dozen times in the last year or so. I just happened to bookmark it. :)

And Wadecool you're right--we're all out of bullets.

Not out of bullets yet, at least not until we work in:
heelys
parking
pool hopping
stayng late for hard ticket events
and
beach chair/parade spot/CS table squatting

Refillable mugs and monorail times have already been mentioned.

I AM the scorekeeper.

How could you leave valet parking at the Contemporary off the list???

It is included in the generic "parking" category.

There has even been an implication of bad parenting.

This thread ROX!!!

At least I won't be upset when they start enforcing!

If this was the case I might get used to the change. Unfortunately, I think that people on both sides WILL be upset when they start enforcing. I do not return during the window currently...and I am able to do everything and not wait in a line overy 20 - 30 minutes during my trip. If this changes and I need to start waiting more, well I'll have to adjust my expectations or change where I vacation. And that's OK - I'm willing to wait and see and adjust if necessary.

My main problem is that even though there is signage around and CM's explaining that 'It's now 11:46 and your ticket clearly says the end time for your FP is 11:45, so you are too late. Sorry.' - There is no way that people will not argue with the CM's - causing bottlenecks, etc. at the FP entrances and likely hearing a million excuses 'Well, I was stuck on Splash Mtn for 40 minutes, go ahead and call and they will tell you'.

And, my main fear is that the CM's might not be 100% consistent in enforcing the rule. And, believe me, the only way I will argue with a CM is if I see it is not being enforced universally. If a person is let in outside of the window - well then you better let me in outside my window too. Then, I WOULD argue too. Although I would not do so if it is consistently, across the board, enforced. I just don't see that happening.

A good analogy is the rule about everyone in the party needing to have a FP to use that line. But I have seen and I'm sure many people reading this have seen cases of people 'arguing' their case or pretending not to understand the CM or whatever else - and then the CM just gives in and lets them in line even if one person doesn't have it.

So, unfortunately, I anticipate if they really do try to enforce this, people on both sides being frustrated and upset. And generally making time in the park less enjoyable as we try to bypass bottlenecks and arguers to even get into the FP line. Hopefully I'm wrong here...But this is what I predict.

Maybe I'm not a big enough rule breaker...I always thought it was the bottom time you had to be back by :confused3 Dang it I never get it right! Here we would be hussling across MK shoving tour groups aside... pushing through hand holding newlyweds... walking in front of pictures.... gleefully yelling sorry trying to make our fast passssss as we went by... and we could have just taken our sweet time as long as we were after the start time:sad2:
I feel cheated! Well we will have to find a ruckus to raise this trip, suggestions!?!?! :rolleyes1

I'd just like to say that this thread is just a ray of sunshine!

:goodvibes

So glad everyone looks on the bright side of life! :thumbsup2

:headache:

And to both of you--I was going for comedic effect. ;) I am well aware of the urban legend.

Yeah, I got that and laughed when I read it. It's taking me days to get through this thread. I was only (jokingly) correcting the other poster.

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle! :rolleyes1
And this can make things turn out for the best...

And...
Always look on the bright side of life...:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1
Always look on the right side of life...:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps!
just purse your lips and whistle, that's the thing!

And...
Always look on the bright side of life...:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1 EVERYBODY SING!
Always look on the right side of life...:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

You know what I really wanted more of in my Disney vacation...

standing around, staring at numbers ticking by on a marquee!

I am SOOOOOO glad that Disney listened to my feedback.

What I'm envisioning is harrowing games of FP chicken.

You know that most people like to have lunch around noon, so the FPs that return between 12-1 pm are not going to be very popular.

In order to get a FP with a return time of 1:30, I'm going to have to stand around (with my fellow lunatics) and wait for some chump to come by, grab a fastpass and flip the board forward.

I'm going to have to stare down my fellow guests waiting for a reasonable FP time, going back and forth- "you first" "No, be my guest" "Well, I insist, you take the FP". :rotfl:

This is going to be awesome!

Or you can make your ADR from 1-2 and easily grab those unwanted FPs. :confused3

Kind hard to make the ADRs in advance based on what the FP return time happens to be at that time ... :)

She mentioned that 12-1 is a popular time to eat, so naturally more FPs will be available. Just like you can always find ADR during fireworks time, popular and not popular times. I think even touring plans(I use none, but I heard) point out times when there are less lines due to popular times to eat.
And yes, waiting for clock to turn is another way to solve it but instead of standing there just do something in area like filler ride or ice cream for your kids or even bathroom break if you absolutely cannot find what to do in Disney.:confused3

Have we confirmed that they are not making a similar change in the near future at DL? I'm always back and forth between the 2. This could send me west. Of course, fewer attractions HAVE FP there, but still......
Touringplans said Disneyland has no intension, at this time, to implement the enforcement of the Fastpass return/end time. I guess we will see, I guess it's all speculation until March 7. We are going back to Disneyland in June and WDW in November/December so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out . . . .

Disneyland has always had a different level of FP use...it seems the mentality over it seems to be different for some reason. And I remember one of the past heads of DLR despised it. Perhaps it just doesn't work as well there. So they are probably waiting to see how all the FP-related NextGen stuff works at WDW (more parks, attractions, on-site guests with longer stays) before considering how they'd implement at DLR.
