The ONLY exceptions..downtimes And dining conflicts AND EVERYTHING else... Wow, sounds like a mess.

It will be interesting to see how the "everything else" part shakes out. What will qualify and what won't, how will those scenarios be resolved, etc.

ok. we "collect" fast passes in the morning. as soon as we can get another, we do. to use later n the evening.

WHY? because hubby cannot see the dark rides. a few years ago, he used to see "somehting" . now. nothin he used to close his eyes, put his handsover his eyes, cause if he his eyes are adusted t dark, then.. maybe .. he can see something..

so, out best plan has been.. be there at rope drop...collect as many fast passes as possbile for night. esp. for dark rides.

then come back at night, and ride haunted mansion or pirates, when hubby can actually SEE SOMETHING!!!

oh and the people behind us in line.. OMG!! ok, another thread...

we go in the am, ride a bunch of things, and collect fast passes for the dark rides. .. so hubby can see them

And how quickly they're posted here for people to mimic -- and complain about when they don't get the same result.

OK, I'll start: I hear the guest assistance card will let you use FPs as late as you want.

;)

I can see how a condition that affects his sight might be problematic, but HM and PotC don't have FPs.

The enforcement of fastpass times will make for very unhappy people, even if they happily follow the rules they will have extra walking, which equals less leasure time to shop, less people leaving the park midday to rest (causing them and the kids to be cranky and more tired), longer hours in the park to complete things they couldnt do earlier due to waiting on a fastpass time. After all is said and done they will be too cranky to stand in line at a store at the end of an extremely long day with a child crying because they are too tired from being in the park all day!! So what does Disney see happening that will make them more $$$?? The fact that people paying for the fastpass times are getting everything done and able to take a nap mid day, or relax some and shop, because they chose the times they wanted. While you stand in a line and watch them walk on by. Makes you think. I know I will think long and hard about buying my fastpass time. at least then im not at the mercy of the fastpass machine, and having to walk to each ride 2 times (once for the fastpass and another to ride) Sounds like a win for Disney people will either buy the reserved times or waste time with extra walking and waiting for the time to come up on the machine! How many of you will buy the new reserved fastpass? Thats the real question.

You don't really believe what you just said here do you? Wow

I sense a new reality show coming: The Men and Women of FastPass Policy Enforcement

I know a guy who would be the perfect leader of that group:

As another poster pointed out, HM and PoTC do not employ FP. You can still come back at night and ride what you want. You may have to use the regular line, but nobody is stopping you from riding at night. You can also get FP's after dark as well. Sure they run out sometimes on the most popular things like TSMM. Perhaps you could look into a GAC card for your DH?

Your situation is definitely not the norm.

Ok, apologies for not reading though 48 pages to check if this has already been mentioned, but I hear from a reliable source (yes, even more reliable than Jim Hill ;)) that this is being done in preparation for the next step where guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts can reserve fast passes online in advance.

Disney are having trouble filling their Deluxe Resorts without the use of discounts so this is seen as another perk to encourage guests to stay there rather than Value or Moderate Resorts.

It is hoped that the move to enforce fast pass return times will help create the capacity in the system to allow for these reserved fast passes as some fast passes will end up not being used or people not getting them as the return time does not suit them. This will help mitigate the impact on those guests not staying at Deluxe Resorts.

There are also rumblings that Disney is trying to wean the public off of discounts in general, so we may see the end of pin codes and free dining in the not-to-distant future.

Not just rumblings...Iger or one of his minions came right out and said it - something like two years ago. Hasn't really worked...

Unfortunately for me, this doesn't sound like "deluxe" will include DVC resorts (which are usually in the same category) any time soon, since DVC occupancy is driven by different metrics.

I'm telling you....... they think the opening of the Fantasyland Expansion will generate crowds akin to that ariel shot we've all seen of the opening of WWoHP. They are tightening up all their policies in anticipation of that. Gonna be interesting to say the least.

I'd like to go back in December, but that's gonna depend on how this all plays out. No discount at all could definitely equal no trip for us. Between my daughter aging into adult status, and the ever increasing price of resorts and character meals, I'll have to sharpen my pencil and look at the whole thing withOUT my Mickey colored glasses on.

What I'm REALLY counting on is that the crowds and bookings won't be like they are anticipating, and that there will indeed be some last minute deals to fill those rooms.

I would not miss free dining.
