Fastpass+ at Disneyland?

Does anyone know if the whole Fastpass+ nonsense will ever show up at Disneyland? I fear that it might and it would be awful if it did!

(Oh, and another FP question - we haven't been to DLR in a few years and I'm wondering if you have to return in the actual window on the FP now?)

Don't think there's anything definite planned yet, but I'm sure something like it will show up once they "perfect" it at WDW. Any way for Disney to sink it's hands into our pockets a little more. :)

And I haven't been to DLR in a while but other threads suggest that they are enforcing the return times on FPs now

FP's window times at DLR are being enforced. Plan accordingly.... We try to go during low crowd times. During these times we often find that some of the FP machines aren't even open through the week.

We aren't going until (maybe) April 2015. We don't really do much in the way of planning. Which is why I really don't like the idea of FP+. We'll just make sure we pay attention the times on the FPs we pull.

Definitely wondering about this. Since the parks are run separately does anyone think there is a *chance* of Disneyland not picking up FP+? From what I understand Disneyland has a higher amount of local annual pass-holders, (is this correct?) would it make a difference? Or is this just wishful thinking?

I think there is a chance it won't show up at DLR. But there is the possibility that it will. I don't think it's a sure thing yet. Besides the aspect of AP holders you mentioned, there is also the logistics of adding FP queue's at DL rides where there just isn't room. At WDW they have added a FP+ queue to virtually every ride and many attractions just flat out never needed FP.

I personally hope they keep all that monkey business out East.

We won't make it to WDW until maybe 2021 or 2022...and I really hope they have something different by then!

And I really, REALLY hope it doesn't show up at DLR!

Does anyone read EasyWDW? Josh makes it seem like the FP+ stuff is making longer lines for rides that used to have short lines (non-Etickets, basically.)

From what I've heard about it at WDW, it sounds like a train wreck. A very expensive train wreck. I hope I never see it here.

I went in Sept 2013 and was picked to test MagicBands and FP+
It wasnt horrible. There are pros and cons to everything

One of the problems DL has always had with FP is that the parks are so compact that the queue lines help by removing people from the congested walkways. I understand DL has even removed FP from several attractions for this reason, so I don't see how FP+ could work there (at least the way it is being implemented at WDW). If DL sees major overcrowding due to FP return lines the fire marshall could shut down the park.

I hate to say this, but I hope Disneyland implements fastpass+. I have never used the current fastpass system because it has been too inflexible for the way I go to the park. I don't like how I can't chose what my return time will be. If I was able to make a few fastpass reservations for a certain time the next day (or weeks from now, it doesn't matter since I go every Friday after work) I may actually use them.

It really is too early to say that. There are LOTS of problems being experienced, but many folks report everything working fine for them. It appears that Disney may have rushed this out before it was really ready. Some guests are paying the price.

I wonder if Disney will ever recover the money they spent on this.

A good friend just returned from WDW and could not have enjoyed it more. He had all his ADR's and FP plans ready long before his trip and when he needed to make adjustments was able to do so without any problems. We were there in September but our resort was not part of the testing group so I have not used it myself but am looking forward to trying it

So we were supposed to go to WDW this year but didn't. I was disappointed, but not nearly as much as I would have been before magic bands. (We made another trip to DLR instead, so that helped.) We will be going in January 2015, and I'm dreading with dealing with magic bands. I am a planner, but not to the extent FP+ requires.

I would hate if FP+ came to DLR, but what would be really upsetting is if they rolled it out like WDW and made it available for pre-trip planning only to resort guests. WDW has several tiers of hotels available, and we typically stay at the value hotels (sometimes moderate). We don't spend time at our hotel at Disney, so we don't want to pay a lot. DLR hotels are not comparable- while staying on site at WDW can be exactly the same and sometimes cheaper than off site, the same is definitely not true of DLR. If we have to pay DLR hotel prices, it will severely limit our trips. And irritate me a lot as I don't really want to spend that much on a hotel at DLR.

We are going to WDW for the first time in June. Haven't picked my FP+ yet, but also not sure which ones to FP and which ones to do at RP since I've never been there. I sure hope they get the glitches worked out and offer more than just 3 by the time we go!

People have been saying now that they've added FP to rides that didn't have it, the lines are longer. Because of the space issue at DLR for FP lines, I wonder if they did use FP+, maybe they would offer FP for more shows and characters rather than rides.
I certainly hope they wouldn't offer it at POTC, which moves rather quickly even when the line looks long.

They have now added (or will start in a few weeks) offsite guests to early picks of FP+ 30 days out as opposed to 60 for onsite guests. People have been saying up until now they can change FPs on the fly. Great if you can, but with more people picking early and crowded summer months, I wonder if that would still be possible in June.

For locals at DLR it would mean they could pick several rides to visit after work. Take the Cars ride, for example. They could reserve a FP+ for after work where as now the FPs are all gone by 10am. Or, on the other hand, would those FP+ times all be booked 60 days in advance by those staying onsite? :confused3

I hate that with FP+, from what I understand...you can only pick a certain amount of the 'popular' rides each day. Well, when you go during a slow time, with the old FP system, you could often get MANY 'popular' ride fast passes in one day. Now, that's basically impossible.

And I do NOT like planning every detail in advance. Talk about a pain in the rear! We like to just wander around and do what looks fun at that time.

Honestly, I did not mind the FP+ at WDW. We had no problems with it. It was annoying that you could only get one pass for an "A" attraction at the satellite parks (i.e. not MK), but they had so few rides anyways...well, lets say it was NOT my favorite setup parkwise anyways. I much prefer DLR. It was nice knowing where we were going to be when and being able to plan around that. With the FP window enforcement in place now at DLR, it makes it harder to plan a day because you have to pull a FP and come back - and there is no flexibility if the FP time is when you already have a TS reservation - you have to keep coming back until you can pull a time you want.

See, traditional fast passes are fine for us since we don't exactly plan our day. We pull a pass and then we'll just go "okay, we'll be back."

Though on our next trip, with a toddler, we won't be doing much of the 'big' rides anyway.

At least if FP+ came to Disneyland it wouldn't be as big of deal about being in the "right" park. For WDW, we typically have an idea of which park we'll start/end our day at. But it often changes. And sometimes we'll "plan" to be at one park longer but get bored and hop to another. So it's harder to 'book' what rides we might want when our parks often change. At DLR it wouldn't be a big deal since you can hop back and forth with such ease.

I have never been to WDW, only DL. The more I read about WDW, the less I want to go. I dont know what magic bands or ADR's are. From my understanding FP+ you have to do something online to get your FP's before you are even on your trip. That just seems crazy to me. I like having flexablity and being able to just walk around and do whatever I'm near at the time being, not having a schedule to tell me when I have to be where all day. If people want to plan their day out minute by minute thats great for them, but not everyone likes that. If that is how its going to be at WDW, I may never go there. If it comes to DL, although we dont go often, chances are we will go even less. I like to relax a little on my vacations and dont want to have to put so much planning into them.
