fastpass+ and park hopper?

We haven't been to Disney in three years. We are currently planning our next vacation for Sept. 2017 (we have only ever been to Disney in the Spring so we are excited to try a different time of year, however I just came across the new FP+. Which I still don't fully understand and really hope that I get a handle on it before our vacation. (which I am starting to doubt as it seems very complicated and NOT COOL at ALL)

So my question is: Should I even bother with the park hopper? It seems with the new FP+ that it is a waste of money to get the park hopper, right? or am I just not really understanding this new FP+ enough? HELP, please!

I don't follow. You can absolutely use FP with the park hoppers to get an advantage. For instance, if you rope drop a park and hit the attractions you want early, then you can hop and use your FP at the second park. Read the posts at the link posted above. FP is actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

And with the new FP system, you can book a FP or two in Park #1 and book a FP for Park #2 even before you complete your two FPs in Park #1.

thanks. I'll definitely have to try to get the hang of it. What I read to begin with is that you can only use three fast passes a day and you need to do so 60 days in advance or else they are all used and you won't get the fast passes. I am glad after reading a bit more there is a skill to using these new FP.
