I apologize if there has been some version of this question covered on here before, but I couldn't find an answer searching through the archives.

As I understand it, you are able to start booking FP+ reservations starting 60 days prior to your check-in day, for the duration of your stay--so for a 5 night stay, you can book 60 days prior to your first day and 64-65 days prior to your last day, right? And this maxes out at 10 days, right?

We're planning on an 8-night stay in early September. What if I also booked a stay at a value (or any) resort for the two nights prior to the start of our stay and then canceled those two nights AFTER I've made my FP+ selections at the 60+10 day mark? Would that count as a "10 day trip" or two separate 2 and 8 night stays? In other words, if it counts as one trip, would I then be able to book all my fastpasses for the original 8 days with a two day head start, and then a week or two later cancel the first two days while keeping my FP+ reservations?

I realize that a two day head start probably doesn't make much of a difference, but when we travel to Disney I make very meticulous touring plans, and have very specific times I want to select for each FP. Plus, I really want to snag an 8:00-8:05 (whichever is the earliest) breakfast reservation at BOG.

As far as I know following your post, my response is that FP+ is tied to your hotel reservation and length of tickets associated with the reservation.
If you cancel a reservation linked with tickets, your FP+ will be cancelled.

Maybe something changed....

Ethics aside, it won't work. They would be considered 2 separate reservations.

If you have two separate reservations, your first room will give you day 60 and 61. Then you'd have to wait the two days for the second room to do days 62 - 67.
Not sure why you want to jump through those hoops though. The only thing you may have trouble with is A&E or a parade or fireworks. And all those things can be had without FP by following advice found here.
ETA - I just read the part about BOG ... Check with the restaurant board to see how availabe those slots are ..... But if its an ADR ... Are you sure you can't book that now? Is that a 60 day or 180 day window?

Ummm / I just checked and there is an 8:05 slot open for June 15th .... Which is more than 60 days out (and I don't have a room booked until August) ... So you might want to take care of that right now...

BOG is only booking through June 18 for breakfast.

Ok - but if they open it up to a permanent thing, it won't be a 60 day window, so OP doesn't need to consider that when thinking about playing around with her reservations to get an early window ... Also, since there is still an 8:05 spot open on June 15, I don't think there's going to be a mad rush to grab them all up.
