Fastpass 2.0

"Fastpass, get your fastpass, fastpasses here only $5 each" I can see people trying to sell them on ebay.............:lmao:

Hey jar,

Believe what you want but you don't have to attack me. The reason I previously registered to "fool my wife" was I was considering a surprise side family trip to the Bahamas on a WDW vacation and I wanted to do a bit of research without her knowing since she knows my primary log-in. Also my primary log in that I've had for years contains my first name which I prefer to remain anonymous in this case for obvious reasons. The survey I took was not in Florida and it was done by a professional research company. They were testing the website interface where you could actually buy a base ticket as well as add-ons such as hopper, water parks and more or this new deluxe (I don't recall the exact name) package. They told me that these new options are set in stone I was just to evaluate how easy it was to use the site. Could they have told me this so I wouldn't ask about it? Possibly, all I'm telling you was this was my experience. Believe me, I have way better things to do than make up (really sucky) rumors. I don't want to be too specific because apparently I was one of several respondents who came in over a 2 day period and I figure the more vague I am the less likely they are to attribute this post to me.

I've thought this thru as described and here's what I've come up with.

*IF* this is actually true and it rolls out as described then one can only take one datapoint from this plan - Disney wants to kill the FP program and be done with it.

Because that's exactly what this would accomplish. Seriously, I can no sooner decide what I want for lunch in 90 days than I can choose what FP's I'll want in 90 days.

What's next? Bathroom FP's 90 days in advance?

"On Tuesday, September 7th - what time would you like to pee?"

;)

...and this is why it makes no sense...why would they want to kill FP? It has done a superb job of shortening wait times for many. Shorter wait lines mean less time spent in line, which means more time available to *SPEND MONEY*.

The OP follow-up post actually made what was originally posted make a little more sense. An on-line system for booking packages, that would include an OPTION where you can pre-book X number of FastPasses for a fee (or at the higher level hotels perhaps). This would make less FP available to the GP, because of people ordering FP. The current FP system would be unaffected, except Disney would now make money on FP. It's still pretty stupid, since the vast majority of people are not uberplanners - but if you know what park you are going to well in advance, you might want to spend the $$ to pre-order the FP.

I hope this doesnt come true....I dont like the sound of it at all......Its one thing to plan what park you are going to be in and where you will eat, but what time you are going to ride a specific attraction??? Thats just crazy!

Could it be a method of trying to figure how busy the individual parks are going to be in order to cut down on staffing? If most of the FP requests are for DH, beef up the staff & cut staff in other parks. I'm sure they are trying to find ways to cut expenses in staffing.

If they did this, it would have to be an all-day FP, much like the YoaMD park-wide FP. It would just have a single day date on it, and you would use it whenever you wanted.

Disney's sophisticated systems already projects this far, far more accurately than any FP data from 90-day advance pass requests would give them.

I took a survey about the new Disney website interface yesterday. One of the things that was discussed was Fastpass 2.0. I signed a confidentiality form that I wouldn't discuss it but let's just say that a lot of people are going to be super angry when the press release about this comes out. Apparently this new system is set in stone...

Not sure why Disney would be conducting surveys then if it were already set in stone. :confused3 Surveys typically suggest that concepts are still being evaluated.

I find it hard to believe that Disney would make the same mistake Universal made. When Universal ripped off Disney's FP idea and introduced Universal Express, it functioned much like FP. Now, though, it's either included with your room if you're staying at one of their properites, or available for a hefty additional cost. FP is perfectly fine and fair the way it is. Let's just hope these rumors are untrue.

This may be the way Disney decides to go. They will offer it to their resort guests first with an offering to the public with the leftovers. However Disney and DVC have a ton more hotel rooms than does Universal so it may be overload to give them to resort guests. That must be more than half of their park patrons, resort guests I mean.

I don't necessarily think this is true or set in stone either, but...

It would be interesting to have a 3 FP advance offering with your ticket in addition to the ones you get at the park (and if you want more, you can pay for them). Think of how frustrating it is to go to the FP machine and find out they are all gone for the day. If a *limited* amount were able to be reserved in advance - it could make a better guest experience and give those customers another value-add to the pass holder.

Since you have to put your ticket into the FP machine to validate you don't already have an active FP, it doesn't sound like a huge development effort to add this functionality.

As I see it Disney is really rocking the fast pass boat.
Just read on an other forum that Disney Land Paris is selling VIP passes for 100 Euro per day per person.

It's a test to see how it will work out.

The whole past pass system will be changed. Guests were complaining and it wasn't really a perk any more. The whole system was tired. But that's just my humble opinion.

I am pretty sure that those with money have always been able to "jump to the front of the line". To quote Jaffar, "Those with the gold, make the rules".

Another reason guests can be morons! They are complaining and what is it gonna do? It's gonna lead to Disney CHARGING for what the guests could have had for free!! So I guess this is how they justify "due to guest feedback":lmao:

My guess is that the lines in Paris are getting ridiculous.

Thanks to a loop hole in the system people can re-use old tickets from years ago to get fast passes. It's quit normal that a person can get twenty thirty fast pass a day.

You can figure out what happens yourself. The person that has normally one past pass is now perhaps using the fast pass lines five ore even more times than a "normal" quest.
The lines are getting longer and longer this way and complains are all over the Internet.

Old tickets are sold on Ebay for a few dollars. It's not a big secret, you can read all about it at the Paris part on this forum.
People are advocating this system all the time.
