Your initial fp have to be in one park but once you tap into your last fp at the first park you can book another for your second park. You can book up to 3 at your first park.

We are going to extra magic hours at epcot so I was going to book frozen and then we have lunch at animal kingdom so I wanted to book the rest in animal kingdom

You'll have to wait until you use the one at Epcot

Yeah, you can't do that.

You could pre-book only one FP for the day... book Frozen... and then as soon as you scan in to Frozen that morning, you could book the other two in AK. The advantage to that is you could book two FP for AK and book them sooner, as opposed to doing all three at Epcot first and booking a 4th FP for AK. But, even that early, FoP and the Safari won't be available. (Unless you are really lucky.)

I think you're better off just booking all three FP at AK, and doing Epcot standby.

Now that would be a great FP+ work around. Those with Park Hoppers could make 3 FP+ selections at each park, so you would have 12 FP+ in one day. I love that idea.

Your first three Fastpasses have to be at the same park, even if you have the park hopper. After you use up your initial three at the same park, you can book one additional fastpass at a time at any park, for any FP that's available. Keep in mind that you have to scan in for these three FPs before you can book the next at any park, so these additional can't really be looked at and decided until after you scan your first FP. A nice little trick for the additional FP's is that it's not based on actually riding the ride nor the hour. For example: You can scan your final FP at (let's say) Haunted Mansion. The minute you scan your FP, you can look for another one while you wait in line to actually ride the ride. Technically, you don't even need to ride the ride if you don't want to. I've done this before where we were trying to use up our last FP of the day because we wanted to switch parks, so I booked a FP for Bugs Life, scanned our FP's and then walked away, and was able to book a FP at any park.
Hopefully that all makes sense!

And then how many of those FPs go unused because people don't make it to every park? This would be a disaster.

This is not true- you do not not to book all 3 FP in the same park. You only need to book 1 in the first park. Once you tap the Mickey band, you can then get online and book your other 2 in a different park. Now, you can only book 3 IN ADVANCE at one park.

AHHHH, I didn't know that! Still, though, it would definitely be cool if they allowed advance reservations for the first three in any variation of the park. Thanks for letting me know!
